Australian Open 2015

Didn't watch it, opted for sleep but disappointed Rafa went out. Not really a surprise though, after watching him in that 5 set match earlier on in the tournament where he looked absolutely knackered, I think he did well to make it this far. Hopefully he'll be fully fit for the rest of the year.

I'd like Andy to do it, but I can see past Novak.

I wonder what other Australians on here think of Kyrgios. I think he's an immense talent but has serious attitude problems and that haircut makes me irrationally angry.

Not watching the match but looks like Andy is winning decent % of points on 2nd serve. Anybody watching...has his 2nd serve been better today or Kyrgios's has been erratic and not taken advantage?

Literally just put it on and Kyrgios just smashed a return winner on Andy's second serve

Should be all over now, nice play from Murray to break

Promises to be a couple of interesting matches today. Wawrinka vs. Nishikori should be delicious while Raonic is the first serious opponent for Djokovic.

Great player, is still a teenager so maturity will take time.

Tends to get some white line fever but thats normal

Good comfortable win for Murray. Berdych should provide bigger challenge than Kyrgios though.

Yes I suppose Djokovic had a similar temperament at that age. Tomic seems to have matured a bit too but it's hard to change first impressions.

What's up with Rafa? I reckon he has lost the majority of his matches lately..

Wrist injury and then appendicitis. Hasn't really played much since Wimbledon because of that. Hopefully he'll be back to his best for Roland Garros.

Murray was too experienced, expected him to win in 3 or 4. Do think Krygios is a big talent though. Only 19... I would hope if he plays his best he beats berdych best in 4 or 5. Djokovic to pummel Raonic in 3.

He'll win his yearly French, but he is 28. Only downhill for him from year. Sad, I don't like him, but his will to win is amazing.

Doping. That panic room debacle strengthened it.
I wouldn't say it strengthen the argument. The Panic Room incident is hardly convincing as Serena had a sister who was murdered in 03(Gang Murder)so the idea she got spooked by a visiting doping officer is pretty legitimate(The doping officers turn up randomly and unannounced for obvious reasons).

Also last season was one of the poorest Serena's had(If she's doping then it's not really working) and then the last years we've seen other players go toe to toe with Serena and at times hit her off the court(If Serena's doping then we should question anyone who beats her as well, although this is never ). And then any actual evidence is at best minimal(I can't find any creditable source carrying these claims, it appears to be mostly internet blogs.)

So although I'm in no way a fan a Serena(After watching her documentary I ended up disliking her even more, which was odd) It's clear her and her sister get so much more shit than any other tennis player just for been very very good.

Ya you're probably right. Just a question with regards to testing are the players not asked to give a one hour during the day where they know for sure where they will be? I know that they once were but whether that is still the case I'm not sure. The fact the testers didn't return that day to test her amazes me. ITF data also stated that Serena for example didn't take a test in 2010 or 2011, for a player of her stature I just find that astounding.

Yeah a quick goggle shows that the players have tell the doping officials were they are 'required to give their whereabouts so they can be found for testing'. So I guess that leaves the Panic Room incident up for debate.Still could be a million reason why she got spooked( In one article it states the doping officers have a tendency to ring the door lots of times, again it's a bit of a weak link but she does have a panic room so it's hardly normal living conditions).

Not getting tested before 2010 or 2011 shocked me as well. Although another article I read (http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2014/04/drug-testing-tennis-increases-not-evenly-all-players/51081/#.VMkkV2isUYM)shows that it could be simply down to incompetence more than anything eles ('Juan Martin del Potro and Jelena Jankovic were not tested out of competition last year, despite finishing in the Top 10').

So it's odd for sure but it seems certain players have had the same experiences.

Murray vs Berdych in a few hours (or according to press/media it's more Murray vs Vallverdu -> http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/tennis/31018077)

Berdych should be the favourite because he hasn't dropped a set at the tournament, will be full of confidence after beating Nadal in the last round and Vallverdu will give him some good insider information (It's an advantage but i don't think a massive advantage).

Murray will only win with a very good serving day because i don't think Berdych will make the same mistakes like Dimitrov.

Murray wins in 5 for me.....Come On Andy!!!!!

I'm so suspicious of Serena, always have been.
But she's sometimes very funny

Can't believe that set went to tie break, Berdych was cruising early on, thought it was over when he broke Andy's serve.

bagel for Berdych in 2nd set I see. Andy in better control overall?

Jeez who just woke Murray up! Berdych bound to come out fighting now...

Definitely supporting Sharapova in the womens final, the hard work she puts in and desire to win that she has are brilliant when you think how many people just think of her as 'the pretty one'!!

Has Berdych's movement always been this bad? He looks shattered. No way he's turning this around imo.

1) This
2) To lose 13 times in a row against Serena is crazy/unacceptable for a top top player like Sharapova
3) It's a bit wierd they've just played 13 times against eachother in the last 11 years

*15 straight defeats :D

Murray looks to be cruising. Berdych's levels have dropped massively though
