So Redcafeteers...

Another Open around the corner, who's going to win it this time?

I can't remember the last Open where I was as undecided as I am with this one. Anyone out Nadal, Federer, Del Potro can absolutely win it. Then you have your Djokovics, Murrays, Soderlings and frenchies.

Going to be a great tournament I think.

Though hard to tell I'll still be placing my bet on Federer.

It depends. If Nadal's had a good pre-season, and his knees are in okay shape, he's a good bet. Then again, any time I've seen him post-injury, his movement looks more laboured than it did. Hopefully that's just something he's working through.

Del Potro can be devastating on his day, but whether he can produce tennis that good so soon after the US isn't clear yet. I think that if he isn't playing well, he doesn't grind out wins like the other top players, so he needs to play like he did for the last couple of sets in the US to beat the top players.

Federer is always in with a shout, but I get the feeling watching him at the moment that it's becoming a bit tougher for him, and Wimbledon and the US might be more realistic this year. You'd still fancy him to get to the final though.

I genuinely think that the fact that the limelight has come off Murray somewhat of late will help him. He's the sort of player that likes being the underdog, and if he hits a bit of form, he'll be difficult to stop.

Also there's Djokovic, but I think he'll make the semis and no more.

Gun to head I'd say it will be a Nadal v Federer final, with Nadal winning in four.

Did you just mention Soderling? I'd say the French Open was a one-off for him.

Nadal just lost to Davydenko so not sure if he's back to his best yet. It could be an easy one for Federer. But as I did all of 2009, I'll be rooting for Roddick.

It's not gonna be Murray, that's for sure. He's hyping himself again for the inevitable failure.

He's a top ten player who has been making good progress.

I don't think the French was a fluke, but we'll have to wait and see.

Does Murray hype himself though? Or is it only the Brits doing it for him?

Anyway he's an unlucky fellow, being in the same age group as Nadal, Del Potro and Djokovic - who IMO are all better players.

Well, Sharapova's gone first round. Guess we'll just have to follow the other Maria who beat her then.

Do you guys feel up for picks later on?

I'll gladly help organise things and I'm sure others will as well.

I think Federer will win it as well, I'd like to see Murray attack more, it's not enough to just try and soak up pressure...as he will always be at risk from someone playing out of their skin

i.e Verdasco (Aus Open 4th Rd) and Cilic (US Open 4th Rd)

Needs to be so much aggressive with his forehand

Oh and his 1st serve % is so far below what is required

My bets are on Federer and the winner of the Clijsters/Henin quarter final (if it comes to that)

Only people who impressed me first round were Monfils & Federer and to some extent Murray...

Negative for Verdasco, Nadal & Djorkovic

An Irish man won a grand slam match for the first time in 25 years, beating the Asian Number One. Haven't a clue what his name is though.

Yeah, I'd rate it better than the Fed-Nadal match.

Every point in the Verdasco Nadal match was of the highest quality. Just when you thought a player had done just about enough to nip a point the other would come up with a higher piece of magic.

Thankfully, Nadal won the finals. It'd have been a shame of epic proportions for either had either Verdasco or Nadal gone through to the finals and lost.

I went today, and I have to preface this by saying I pretty much hate tennis.

But feck me there's a great day out to be had at the Open.

PS: I fecking hate Roddick that smug feck.

Fair play Cesc - You going back - Would like to ask you to look out for something next time....

Only Open I have never been to is the Australian open - Maybe some day.

Be prepared for the heat.

Andy Murray might struggle over the weekend. Its going to be scorching hot down there. Heat rule will be in effect I imagine. I cant see a Scot lasting in those conditions.

Murray won in Indian Wells - Practices in Miami and is generally regarded not to be effected by heat

Honestly I'd love to go again next week, I'm trying to get one of my mates I work with and his missus - Italian's on a working holiday - to come just for the experience, but it seems work's going to get in the way.

Out of interest what would you want me to look out for? Aside from the copious amounts of young tanned extremely fit birds, that is.

Murray went down to Australia early for the Hopman cup so has had plenty time to adjust to the heat prior to the tournament unlike last year where he didn't go down as early prior to the start.

I want you to look out for guys on Laptops or Ipods on the courtside....

If you go to any sports events you'll find a few professional gamblers betting on course with the likes of Betfair. With a 2-3 second delay with pictures you'll find these guys are quick and make a killing if they know what they do.

I ask this as the Australian open last year was rift with them. 5-6 second delay of pics into europe meant they cleaned up. This year the organisers were going to clamp down on them.
