Really is laughable seeing how quickly the other big clubs in the world rebuild their teams - Barca are arguably already better than us and Madrid already are yet are adding the best young midfielder itw to their team.
Easier to rebuild when you don't feck up pretty much everything for a decade.

That said, yeah, a club with that kind of money shouldn't take more than a couple years to rebuild

I'm fully confident that we start next season with one of Mctominay/Fred in midfield. They'd get comparable treatment to what we gave Donny if they ever found themselves at another big club.

Is Camavinga even playing much? Haven't kept tabs on Real much this season.

Adding Tchouameni to a midfield that already has him, Casemiro, Valverde and Kroos as midfield options is insane. Add Modric in the mix too - not sure if they are planning on keeping him next season but he still looks like he's more than capable of playing at the top level.

Real hyberbole that.

Tchouameni has been impressive over the last year and a change but there are tons of very good young midfield players out there. Lets see him do it in a bigger league or the CL before we crown him the best young midfielder in the world.

Modric and Kroos could drop off massively in the next 1-2 years. Modric is 36 and kroos 32.
Real Madrid actually thinks ahead. Something we should have done when SAF retired.

Clubs can rebuild easily when they play in leagues that are weak enough where even their period of ‘crisis’ will almost certainly not see them drop out of the CL. If Bayern fell off for a bit, they’d still be a CL club in Germany, and soon enough be first again. In the PL, United drop 10% they come 6th. Same as Arsenal. Same at Spurs. Same at Leicester.

You say Barca are already better than us but they couldn’t even make it out of their group in the CL. I’m convinced that if that team had been here, they’d have spent years not qualifying for the CL, and the Real team would have missed out at least once too. Instead, they probably win their league even when not great.

It's my opinion. Who's your pick?

It's not really that hard. It's just that we are the worst run rich club around. There's no other team that can manage to spend 100-150 million per year for a decade and still look a mess , struggle to score goals and go 5 years without any trophies. We're a case study in incompetence

It's my opinion. Who's your pick?

There are many talented young midfielders (Tchouameni, Rice, Pedri, Barella, Wirtz, Camavinga, Musiala, Odegaard, Locatelli, etc) and none of the them clearly stand out from the others to the extent that they deserve to be crowned best in the world.

Honestly it is really hard to make strong rankings among very good players at this stage in their development because so much depends on system, league competition, etc and some of them really haven't been tested in adverse circumstances or against the highest competition. Three or four years ago many people would tell you that N'Dombele and Aouar were the midfield jewels of French football and destined to be among the best the world, look where they are now (still at Lyon or back at Lyon, and yesterday's news).

Gone nowhere this summer if that's the case

I hope that's not the case, as surely Ragnick been brought in too shift the bad eggs, and brief the incoming guy who's good enough and who isn't, as well as what's needed

Otherwise what was the point, 6 months wasted in planning for next season

Apparently Madrid have reached an agreement with Monaco for him for 50m + 15m in bonuses

It annoys me we’re never in for these type of players despite it being blatantly obvious to everyone he’s top quality. We’d rather spunk our entire summer budget on someone like Declan Rice.
Probably because Rice is a DM while Tchouameni is box to box. I thought the fans want us to sign players that we need not player that we don’t need?

Never mind Tchoauméni being able to do both, do we not need both types of players? Or do you want to see Fred continue to start?

If we're spending that kind of money, the board wants him to be British.

What you don’t think we need a top quality box to box with Pogba going? Also Rice this season has shown himself to be much more than someone who purely sits and screens the back 4. I’m a fan of Rice it’s mainly the price tag that puts me off.

Camavinga and Tchouameni for a total of £80m. We paid more than that for fecking Pogba.

How can fans want Ten Hag then go for Tchouameni

It really doesn't fit the tactics that well.

If we go for Tchouameni as our CDM then our manager is more likely Pochettino Than Ten Hag.

Ten Hag uses CB/CDM's that fall in to back 3's.

Tchouameni playing like that would ruin his potential.

Ten Hag uses the players at his disposal in a way that suit them.

We need a DM first before box to box. A DM could improve other players around him for example Casemiro did it to Fred in Brazil. We have enough box to box like Fred, VDB, McTominay or even Garner who has been playing in that no 8 this season. If we are going to sign a box to box to upgrade, we can do it later after we sort out the DM first because what we only have is ageing Matic who can’t play every games. Pogba‘s replacement should be someone creative.

Other way around. It's non-British players who will almost always pick Real/Barca over United.

The board is full of Americans who have sanctioned massive money moves for non-Brits loads of times. Even Maguire was only third choice after we had bids for De Ligt and Koulibaly rejected.

Not seen a gret deal of him, but the lack of manager and action from us regards midfield.......we failed on Camavinga last summer if we were in at all and already some good targets like Gravenbuch and Tchouanemi and decent frees like Kessie are already heavily linked or already going to other clubs.

There are a number of good midfielders of course still out there, Rice and Bellingham are too costly but Kamara free, Caqueret pretty cheap and a few under the radar midfielders in France look very promising. Intrigued to see who we do sign, I dont know why but Im expecting two and Im also expecting to be underwhelmed considering what is out there

With SPanish football not being on SKy, not seen a huge deal, but it appears since Christmas he is getting more games, mainly from the bench. No rush, lets not forget he is still a teenager settlign into a new country and culture.

Its scary how many quality young players are comig through in France again. I still think he will be a big player for them, he has everything for the dm role

Real Madrid going for Mbappe, Haaland and Tchouameni while we are linked with Richarlison and seem hellbent on buying the latest slice of overrated and overpriced English hype in Rice, tells you everything about where both clubs are at in terms of drawing power, ambition and nous.
