@Edgar Allan Pillow I will be sending Mr Phillip Lahm back to the bank please unless there are any takers for him at 90m.

@Oaencha @idmanager @Enigma_87 @P-Nut0712 @Isotope @Moby @Pat_Mustard

You could still get rid of him at 80 mn if someone is willing to do an exchange.

Example You sell Lahm for 80+10. In return you buy a player from them for their price+10. Example, Neuer , 30+10.
Neither party losses a penny and you free up some funds.

Unless of course EAP suddenly calls it an unfair business

I think it is. You have to trade players at a profit, otherwise I’d send him back to the bank for 60m as I bought him for 80.

Yes, you are right, just read it. You can still sell him at a loss. No one willing to pay 70m?

No way would Edgar let that IMO

This wouldn’t work for me anyway. I need to raise minimum 100m

Technically, he can't stop it as its still in the rules, which are a bit difficult to make sense off.
Selling at a loss with a shoe string budget almost kills all chance of a transfer happening unless you are in a Arbitrium-esque situation and might run into bankruptcy

Been watching Kurt Hamrin today after I stumbled across some literature on his Milan stint.
Instantly reminded me of Mo Salah in his current form and position.
Wish @Edgar Allan Pillow had thought of some discount coupon's with a bonus round or something

Hopefully can get him in one of the next drafts.
The man was hard done by Edgar, no one would pay 100 millions for him with the likes of Finney available for half the price; while on talent he definitely deserves to be picked (and maybe to star in the draft like this, where the unusual suspects will be brought to light)

BTW, think no one has thought of that yet, but just putting it out there - what happens if onenil for example sells Figueroa to the bank for 120 or 110, can he buy him again then at a base price if he has spare funds?

Surprised there were no upbids on lahm at the time actually, arguably one of the most consistent and versatile players in the entire draft. World class in 3 positions, won everything he can and captained a WC winning team.

Yea, 100 mn was too steep.
I think @mazhar13 made a brilliant attack with him in it in one of the past drafts.

Czibor-Kocsis-Hamrin  (If I remember correctly)
Was my favorite attack of that draft.

No way would Edgar let that IMO

Why not? I don't see anything untoward there, plus highly unlikely that the same guy who wants to buy off you wants to lose their player also.

If both guys are losing a player for a profit, so be it I say.

Ed rule doesn't allow for straight cash deals though right? So I think that basically rules out that way of trading anyway

I really like Lahm but need to be very careful with my funds after NBM. I can’t stretch to that amount of money I’m afraid.

You can sell or trade players for straight cash deals - just the player needs to be sold at a higher value than bought:

T.1 - Players can only be sold or traded for profit. i.e. value higher than they were bought.

For example we can sell De Gea at 40,50, 200m to Real, but we can't sell him at a base price or the price we bought him for.

T. 2 - One for two only. i.e. Player A = Player B + Player C (or) Player A = Player B + Cash. Value of Player B + Player C or value of Player B + Cash must be higher than value of Player A.

There isn't money on each of side of the trade - say Player A + cash = Player B + cash.

So if you want to trade players you have to do by Lahm = De Gea + 60m or Lahm = De Gea + Muller, etc...

Think the point is, both can be separate deals.
Lahm = 80 + 10
De Gea = 30 + 10

Everyone okay with me putting another nomination on? I’ll be squared up by the time this one goes through (if successful)

As good as he is, he doesn't guarantee you a complete shut down of, say, Cristiano or Ronaldinho, nor is he able to single-handedly man the flank like Cafu — and he costs a lot for a right back. I'm a fan, but it's not the best piece of business

Yeah, but that includes 2 players going the other way. The rule is (I think) obviously for different players. In other words you can't separate the deals like that when trying to swap two players, otherwise it's a straight swap and not profit - the balance of each manager will be the same at the end of the trade.

you can go around that with a third manager of course.

If Bremner and the new nomination go through however you'd be crossing the budget, so essentially you'll have 12 hours to fix the negative balance sheets. Otherwise I think you can freely do so as the list isn't that big...

More importantly, why would anyone go for Lahm at 90 when you could get Cafu for 80 most likely uncontested at this stage

Lahm is more versatile and could play DM as well, although I already tried that one in one of the recent drafts and it wasn't a raging success by any means...

Bizarre rule, I guess it is done to avoid two people colluding to create a super team. Imagine buying Messi and selling him for 30m.

Keep list at under 40 lads.

Why would you say we can nominate 3 each (3x16 =48) and then say to keep list under 40. That honestly doesn't make sense and 42-48 is not any harder to manage than 40.

Seriously just let everyone have 3 nominations. 40 or 48 list makes no difference. It's a far bigger pain in the ass to count the nominations anyway than to just deal with however many nominations

Dare I say it but whilst he was definitely much better than Alaba's so called ability to play midfield, he has nowhere near enough experience there to warrant being used there especially in the draft context, where he is usually going to come up against the greatest of all time, in their respective positions.

PS: if anyone wants Pele off us, we're looking to sell.

Naw I'd never risk that because then you or moby or someone saving money could just outbid me and I wouldn't have the funds to outbid. Too risky a tactic for just 10m or 20m potential.

Plus I valued Don Elias at 160 so for me it was a Wenger like bargain ;)
