Athletics World Championship 2015

Can anyone tell me why Bolt is never trying to beat his own records? He stops up before he is across the line because he always have a huge distance to the other contenders, but shouldn't he give it all to the finish line?

Perhaps he's aware he's not going to beat them anyway? I suppose at that level he can distinguish a possible world-record leg far before the finish line.

Merely speculating, I have no idea, just seems plausible.

The Jamaican anti doping agency is notoriously lax on its testing so the Jamaican athletes are more than likely using more gear than their competitors are able to safely use. Bolt is probably scared of blitzing his record and drawing unwanted critical thinking to his performance - not that there is much danger of that, as everyone seems to have forgotten his highly suspicious sudden improvements in his times in the run up to 2008. He could probably knock a 0.5 second off his 200m record and nobody would dare question it.

Bolt has been as often as any athlete in the last 5 years.

The fact is these athletes know their bodies and are wary of picking up injuries particularly when their are other races to run
 
Why is Schippers such a favourite today? She was very good, but Asher-Smith looked more impressive to me.
