 Evra saying turn your head you won't want to see this.

He overthinks his shots, Rooney went through the same phase early on in his career, they're both better off when they react to a cross instead of having time to think of what they're trying to do, give him some time and his finishing will improve.

Maybe you're right and maybe just maybe the solution is loaning him up. However I can't blame the club for playing him on the flanks and you can't blame me for not feeling perfectly comfortable as seeing him as the main striker. Stats clearly show whose at the right side of the argument here.

Could've been that Clarke or whoever it was that attacked Evra went with a hell of a force into him, or he could've kicked him there, stood on his hand, whatever.

Looked to me like the Villa player kicked backwards at Paddy as he got up.

 looks like everyone is just going WTF are those two doing

Looks like even Rafa is going "WTF is Jones doing.."..
but its Phil Jones.. he can do what he wants.. No one can tell him otherwise.

Excellent half.

Thought we started scratchy as always, but once we scored we were awesome. Amazing what a goal can do.

Great first half, we could have scored even more. Let's hope we continue playing like this.

Welbeck has been excellent, happy for him scoring a brace. Rafael, Valencia, Rooney and Adnan have been amazing too.

Few things:
Welbeck makes mockery of tabloid mentions that he's one of the bunch that need to be shipped out
Rafael makes all the difference
Moyes finally realises that Rooney can and should play in the middle when no one else can

Hope we continue to get early goals in games, settles the team so nicely

Very good half today. We made plenty of chances for once, which was great to see. Plenty of urgency and getting forward quickly meaning we don't have a wall of players we have to break down every time. Shame we couldn't get a few more goals. Hopefully more of the same in the second half.

Well that was fun. Strong start by Villa but by the end of the half we could have had 3 or 4.
62% possession? Not bad at all.

Hope we can keep this up in the 2nd half. We've seen the game at Fulham this season where we were brilliant in the first half and almost the complete opposite in the 2nd, so lets hope we come out and look to finish the game off.

Welbeck best game for us do far? Pretty unplayable today.

Just a shout to Mason first then reffing of the game, every flash point has been well managed. More sensible reffing and yellow cards in the pocket is to be welcomed.

Not important, but I can't remember the last time Evra saw so little of the ball in a half.

It happens in football that players are moved in different positions to exploit their talent better and limit their weaknesses to the minimum. I remember a big club moving a striker to AM because they believed he was too short. Another club moved a striker in CM because he wasn't scoring enough goals. Turned out they ended up two of the best midfielders of their generation (Scholes and Pirlo)

Not saying it doesn't happen, just saying I don't agree that in this case, that is the reason. Welbeck has a diverse skill set. Given the current state of our wingers, I feel he does a sufficient job on occasions (relative to who we currently have there, not relative to what we should have there). This means he plays there sometimes. The reason he doesn't play more as a striker is because, as you said, we have an array of players already at striker.

As I said, different ways of looking at the same story. You're saying he's been moved because of his skillset (which I disagree with). I'm saying he has been moved there as a) we have better striking options right now, and b) he has adequate ability to play out wide.

I disagree with you because I believe his best position is still striker. He has proved he can play there when he has been given the chance to.
