Assuming Mou signs what would happen to Ryan Giggs?

Whilst he is a legend at this club as a player, I really hope he has absolutely nothing to do without coaching or back room staff. Forget this apprentice nonsense now, it's time he tried to put it into practice somewhere.

Hope the club insist that he stays on. Couldn't care less about his private life ,even pretending to be outraged .

There're rumours around January that he'll become U21s manager, with Joyce moves down to manage the U18s.

If cnut becomes our new manager and they force him to keep Giggs, that might be a sign that board will put him in charge the moment there are no better options.

Zidane stayed at Madrid for several years and then got the job. If Giggs stays and we have a great team in 2-3 years then I wouldn't mind him much. But right now we are not in that position, otherwise I think Mourinho wouldn't be coming and Woodward would give Giggs the job.

Zidane was a director/consultant he was studying to become a DOF, he didn't planned to be a manager, he only decided to become a manager after spending a year as Ancelotti's assistant, after that year he took the Castilla because he wanted to manage.

It's a campaign that devilish has been working on for what seems like eternity. After years you are bound to find a few supporters.

Such a shame. The man is a living legend. We'll probably never, ever see anyone with his stats, trophies and longevity in united again.

Some people on here need to take a long, hard look in the mirror. This is not how we treat our legends. Sure, he might not be manager-material. Sure, some don't want him in our coaching staff. But at least show the man some respect. We owe him that. Every single one of us.

Can't agree more. Bringing in his personal life into discussions is pathetic, imo.

Yeah so a relatively inexperienced manager for such a huge club.
I am not Giggs ' biggest fan but if we are again looking for a manager in 2 years Woodward might feel that there is hardly such a thing as "success guarantee" even if you hire a very experienced manager so why not try Giggs. But again for this to happen we will need a better team.

Zidane 's current team are experienced, have taken part in international tournaments and some of them have won them or at least gone far again and again, they have played at Madrid alone under so many managers so are more capable of adapting and they don't need much coaching. They are tactically already very good. For now at least they are fine and the worst which could happen is they end up 3rd and trophyless.
Whereas Giggs wouldn't find that at all here. We have a young and rather inexperienced squad. But win a few titles , make a couple of good signings, establish yourself again at the top as a club and then I would feel more comfortable with Giggs than if we hired him now.

Zidane was behind the 2006 French team he has always been a huge leader and always been tactically proficient, Giggs has never been a leader in the locker room. I like Giggs but he will have to really prove himself.
SAF said that he would talk tactic with Scholes that's the type of relationship that Zidane always had with his managers and that's something that Giggs didn't had.

PS: I'm not trying to bash Giggs but from the outside his profile, his personality isn't a great fit for management, obviously it doesn't mean much but in my eyes he needs to manage a team first whether it is the U21 or Aston Villa isn't my concern but he needs to manage.

Well ideally he needs to manager much better teams than U21 or Villa in order to get the United job. But then there are several managers around who have done that and I would never consider hiring them, even ex United Greats.
I think that's what Giggs and maybe even Woodward are thinking that he stays rather and learns from different managers and when the timing is right he gets the job.
You say Scholes was the one with who tactics were discussed more and it makes sense that CMs are more tactically astute than wingers, etc. but I wouldn't want to hire Scholes either. Plus for the last few years Giggs played CM too.

One thing bothers me in your post, it sounds like you want to force Giggs onto the team. To me it doesn't matter what he does next, he will have to be judged fairly.

Well not me but I do think Woodward does want it but is smart enough to realize that the timing must be right for that. And if the timing is right then I will be more comfortable with it than I would be now.

Personally I think Giggs needs to earn his stripes as a manager elsewhere. Get some proper managerial experience under his belt, just like everyone else has had to. Too much sentiment with Giggsy, although obviously understandable, but he needs to learn how to manage a team before we let him anywhere near the United post.

Gone hopefully.

Let's stop this nonsense of keeping people based on names. He's been a part of two failed regimes now.

Although I was strongly opposed to Giggs taking over LVG, if Mourinho can bring us success with Giggs as his right hand man I might be less opposed in three years. Especially as he will have worked closely with three managerial heavyweights (Fergie - not Moyes)

I also reckon the players will see him as a friendly face and approachable so he might be beneficial as a constant factor between regimes.

My fear is that if the style or the results aren't instantly great we will get Giggsy's media chums ripping into Mourinho as per LVG.

He'll open a bar in Spain.

I think that if he goes to manage somewhere else, he'll be underwhelming. He might only want the United job and nothing else.

gosh there's a lot of cnuts on here these days.

The man is a legend so go feck off with your disrespect ... you're worse than Livepool scum.

Jeeez this place really has gone down the crapper ... sad, sad days
So true mate, been slowly get worse and worse over the years...
