Rooney’s last goal for us is another one that comes to mind. After that, I’ve got nothing.

Mata has scored a beauty vs Watford in the 1-0 win vs Watford in 2016 under LvG

Young's free kick is clearly better than both IMO. At first i thought the same, because the camera angle was really poor on tv. But when they showed the shot from a camera facing the goal it was exactly like one of Beckham's goals from the 2000s.

Yeah, the trajectory was outrageous. Especially the dip he got on the ball. Reminded me of the way Payet was scoring them for West Ham.

Young or Valencia.

If we could only keep one next season, who would you keep?

Valencia. Young's become a very reliable jack of all trades, and is currently in a purple patch where he's doing a lot more than that too. But Valencia's been a pillar of this side ever since Mourinho arrived (and for a while before that too). 7+ performances every week without fail for two seasons.

Amazing how Fergie could spot certain players with mental attributes to just perform consistently and adapt to whatever circumstance. Even after all these years, after all the manager changes, we still pretty much use Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Young, De Gea whenever they are fit, and Carrick before his age really started having an impact on him was in the same boat. Despite all the position changes and big players coming in, they'd still force their way in somehow. Darmian/Blind/Shaw/ whoever else, our best performing fullbacks are still the wingers Fergie bought years ago.

Jose spots them too. That’s why he is so hard on the likes of Shaw

Some fans would do well to remember that because mental toughness is arguably more important than talent.

Compare his contribution going forward with Valencia, then just imagine how two WC fullbacks would improve us.

there are few better sights in the game than a freekick struck so sweetly that the player is peeling away in celebration before it hits the net.
very similar to the payet one against us a couple of seasons back

his first was a belter too, caught it perfectly.

he's been excellent the past few games, fair play to him

The curve on that freekick. Wow.

Love it how he begins his run to celebrate when the ball is still in the air. He just knew it's going in the moment his foot touched the ball.

He did the same thing when he scored those belters against Arsenal in the 8-2 as far as I remember. :)

The fact he played wingback made a big difference for us especially his first goal that wouldn't be done if he played at fullback. Beauty of the 352 definitely is how much space the wing backs get.

Aye, that deserves more love. There's something so aesthetically pleasing about a long range shot that rips along so close to the ground, without quite touching it. In fact, it was ever so slightly rising when it hit the net. You really need to lambast a football to make it do that. Truly a thing of beauty.

Seems in great physical shape considering he is getting on a bit. I can see him playing for a fair few years yet. He has lost a bit of pace, but not so much that it hinders his play.

I still think the fact he runs around like quasimodo on coke is hilarious.

Surely Young should be getting into the England World Cup squad? Having a great season with one of the top clubs in Europe and can cover several roles. One of the poorest ever England squads anyway.

His first touch (if 100% intended) is truly sick. Honestly if this had been another player, you'd hear it on the bloody news

Noticed it too. Sometimes you just know when you hit it sweetly.

He is good, but it's not a coincidence that every team is targeting his side whenever he is playing.

Think he did his defensive job alright today.

Marcello is the best LB in the world but for years he was always labelled as a liability in defense. Modern fullbacks are about attacking more than defending IMO. I'll take an offensive back with some problems defensively over someone like Darmian any day and Mourinho is doing the same.

The comeback king.

Be honest you forgot he even existed for the last 3 years.

Now he's making highlights reels that Roberto Carlos couldn't match

Been a valuable squad player for years, left back, right back, left wing, right wing, left wing back, right wing back, striker(thanks LVG)

Still think LVG chucked out too many decent players to replace with pap.

He has been criminally wasted the past few years.

Hes always been a decent player.

For me that was his best performance of the season, consistently good throughout the game, especially defensively.

His amazing read on Ozil's free kick has gone under the radar. Only just reminded of it on twitter myself.

He was actually my MOTM

He was very good, but let's not lose our minds eh?

Lingard would have had a hat trick bar for the post and De Gea saved 3 certain goals. As good as Young was, he didn't have near that much impact on the game.
