Ashes I - 2013 - In England

Nooooooooooooo!!!!

fecks sake, brilliant effort from the lad. Well played.

His mum's reaction  :(

Australia have a great chance but if England bat sensibly, they should at least ensure they don't lose this.

How many batsmen have scored a century on their début batting at number 11 then?

He passed the previous high score for a number 11 on debut at about 40 runs and then passed the previous high score in total from a number 11 when he got to 96.

I just realized that Broad is a part of this test match.

I've long been advocating to have him dropped. He does feck all for 4 tests before taking a 5 fer. His batting is getting worse too. I just don't think he's consistent enough.

Tbf to him he's clearly not fit right now.

He got hit on the shoulder whilst batting and was in clear pain.

What on earth are you on about?

I'm not specifically talking about this test match. His form has been up and down for 18 months or so and people have always made the excuse that he's not 100% fit.

I'm Australian and I had literally no idea who he was, or that he even existed before I heard the side being read out over the radio an hour before the first session. This kid has come from nowhere.

England have to see off the first 15, there's run's in this pitch but the batsmen need to be focused.

Is anyone making excuses for him?

Everyone will tell you that he's been pretty poor apart from one innings against New Zealand for about 18 months, but it's not an excuse to say that he's not been 100% fit. He's had a string of injuries, from the bizarre to the mundane. Those are the facts.

I believe his lacerated fat pad might not be completely healed either.

great discovery. good luck to him. that was magical

I swear Trott got a nick on that, they didn't show the side hotspot though, from that you have to give him.

I didn't think the stumping decision would have swayed the test this much , Aussies got all the momentum, big partnership needed for 3rd wicket.

Fairly certain England are going to loose this. England always need a kick up their arse at the start of a series.

Need a patented Cook century here, a bit of form from Bell or Pieterson would be nice as well although its been a long while since either showed much form in an England shirt, Pieterson usually gets by on one huge score a test series that inflates his average, whilst Bell will no doubt do his decent starts followed by a stupid shot.

Nothing like snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Does any team have as much trouble as removing tailenders as England as well, it happens with shocking regularity? I mean two world record last wicket stands in the space of a year.... It's got to be complacency on some level. You're pretty much assured one of those last 3 wickets will carry at least a 50 run stand against England.
