Ashes I - 2013 - In England

Australia are going nowhere. They can't just defend, have to play some shots without being stupid.

Agar has nice technique. Looks very comfortable batting considering it's his debut.

Very good day of cricket. Swung back and forth again, but England are firm favourites to win this from here.

The Clarke wicket was key, I felt he had to bat through if the Aussies were to win.

I hope these 2 put up a fight tomorrow, hopefully will be similar to the Edgbaston game from 2005.

England definitely now favourites, did look like the game was going away from them at 111-1, and even 161-3 with their best batsman at the crease. Can still see this being a tight finish.

Very disciplined bowling from England in that final session, excellent stuff.

Agar and Haddin did well to hang on in the end, need to do more of the same for the first hour, not lose any wickets to stand a chance. If the tail come in with less than 60 odd to chase then there's big chance still.

Why am I watching this Clarke interview? It's making me really like him, fecks sake.

This will make me sound really old even though I'm not, but I reckon it's poor the way the Aussie players are booed now. It never used to happen. Plus is anyone else disappointed with the standard of play in this match? At times it's been good but lots of poor stuff as well. Both sides look a long way off SA.

Very good interview from Clarke. Came across really well, and it's nice to hear from the captain during the test match. That doesn't happen too often.

I thought the same when I heard him speak, especially with Ian ward trying to wind him up about Anderson.

Where is the application? Where's the technique? Great Test match, but I fail to see how Australia are going to get anything from this series with the batsmen they have. Such a removal from merely 6-7 years ago.

They're where we were 10-15 years ago.

How did Strauss get a job with Sky? Boring, lacks character, and adds nothing.

Swann bowled a couple of beauties. Cowan and Rogers would be disappointed. Clarke got the very faintest of edges where another day he'd have missed it and made a hundred.

They've certainly shown more grit and determination to play real test cricket than I have seen in a long time. When I woke up I thought to myself... 6/150. I wasn't far wrong. Can't see Aus getting favorable result here but we will definitely see. Rogers batted really well though.

Surprised, I think Strauss generally makes insightful and interesting comments about the game and its nice to have someone who's played in recent Ashes series' on board, naturally as he's just started he's not going to be perfect but so far I think he fits the commentary team well.

Yep, completely agree.

He knows his stuff 100% and gives a very good insight into modern Test cricket that none of the others can.

He's far more Gary Neville than Alan Shearer.

That voice though.... There is no denying that.

The entire Sky commentary team gets on my nerves - Gower, Atherton, Botham, Hussain, Bumble. Even Michael Holding grates after a while. I turn down the volume and listen to TMS.

I'm surprised this test match has gone to the fifth day. Anyway, England will win and they're the better team out there. Aus are going to struggle throughout this series, I don't see them winning a match.

What do you have against Bumble? He's brilliant.

My only criticism of Sky this year is they haven't got an Aussie in. What happened to Shane Warne like they usually get?

I just looked at Starc's and Pattinson's averages.

Why did I do that to myself?

He's playing poker in Las Vegas. He will be back for the next test.
