Ashes I - 2013 - In England

given out on the field and it was hitting the stumps according to hawk eye. That's unlucky sure, but it's by no means a howler which is what the system is there to get rid of.

But does it really get rid of the howler?

Ah we're fecked now boys.

No edge.

Great review. Another shit umpiring decision. Are these the best they have?

bwoaaaah nobesss so close

not out.
See it's this crazy shit about reviewing that fecks it all over. The umps should make a decision and then a 3rdy come in and say no as the guys walking off or just go for a fecking review all the time if they're to puss to give it straight up.

It does if you don't waste it on optimistic marginal calls.

I think in both instances it's worked very well.

But if you use it when you genuinely think you're not out then I don't see why it is that which should be dictating the umpires decision. It takes around 15 seconds to review something. The time the lads walking off that's out is plenty of time to deliberate whether it's out or not.

I agree that it's ultimately there to give the batsman the benefit of the doubt of being on the wrong end of the decision. I just think the way it's being implemented with reviews and what not is not the way to go about it.
Any doubt the ump has he should have options available. Then I guess if he stone cold thinks it's out the Batsman is fecked iether way I guess.

It certainly needs looking at but I doubt they will. This highlights a bit of the up and down nature of it all.

Going back to that Watson dismissal. Interestingly enough when the ball had made an impression on the pad (more than where his pad is) was where the ball was track from as hitting. Which for me made it look 'straighter' than it really was. On the side view the ball looks like it depressed in a good inch maybe inch and a bit which exceeds the capture points for the Hawkeye tracking system.

Something to think about for sure.

I think the problem is if you give it to umpires is that they will review everything and there's just not enough time for that. I already think you see that now when umpires will review 90% of stumpings and run outs.

I think the only option I will be happy with apart from the current system is dropping down the reviews to 1. That MIGHT encourage players to only review if they know 100% that it's the wrong decision, and if they do still waste that review there is absolutely no one to blame but yourself.

feckS SAKE, why did he bring Finn on when you've got Cowan on nought?

'Here Edward, I know you're struggling so here's some filth to help settle those nerves'

He's talented but I think Finn is brain dead.

@Ninja :lol:

That was a horrible over from Finn, he does bowl some tripe.

I thought Watson played well, got his team off to a great start and now if Rogers can make 80 odd they will be over half way there. Aussies favourites at the moment.

FFS.

So he gets dicked on by a number 11 because he's trying to bowl at his own feet and has now decided that with the pitch even slower than the last time he bowled on it he should still bowl bouncers.

Root! Important wicket, poor from Cowan, stupid shot right before tea.

I dont understand why Cowan is still even in the team. He's never looked inspiring, he has a first class average of 40 and a test average barely above 30.

Deary me!! Such a soft dismissal.

This is going to be a 9 wicket down 10 or so runs to go jobby.

And there you go Clarke, that's how not to waste your reviews on marginals.

Aussies can do this if they want, pitch not doing as much as I anticipated for Swann.

Big wicket if they've got him!!

Edit: clearly out. The umpires are having a shocker.

Edit 2: reviewing... Sounded an edge to me.

Small edge on hot spot.

Huge wicket, England will win this now IMO.

Big wicket. Broad has really taken my criticism of him to heart in the 2nd innings.

You can thank me later Stuart.

Aussies will crumble now.

Good decision there.

Aussies have deth in their batting, need to do so if the bottom order outscores the top like in India. Main thing keeping this match alive so far.

Agar next in I presume.
