I'd pass.
When we missed out on him that was the moment to have signed him. He seemed to be the exact player our midfield was lacking. Since then, his injury record hasn't been the best and he's now 31. That's not old, but given his injury record, questions about his lifestyle and style of play, he might be washing up early. It's a shame we didnt' get him then, but that's life.
Vidal at his best would do wonders for the midfield, but I don't know if he can offer that. I'd rather look elsewhere for that third midfielder now...
He didn't suffer from any major injury since upon joining us. I have no idea why people still keep bringing this up. He definitely still has 2 more seasons of top-flight football in him. Not a long term solution, sure, but definitely worth a look if you value short term success.
He won't cost more than 30-40m € tops, for a player of his calibre that's pretty cheap nowadays.
As for the tweets, lol @ Kicker for keep trying to throw Thiago's name in for no reason. The club won't consider selling his only DLP because of a possible B2B overage.
What about his out of control drink problem and often going missing for days on a bender?
I'd take him. He'd be an upgrade on Herrera and Fellaini and would complement Pogba and Matic very well. At least for a season or two. Buddies with Sanchez as well so why not.
Yes, because they already bought 2 young players than Vidal. All I know is that if Bayern are happy to let him leave, we should be suspicious.
I think he’d be a great signing. Yes he’s not the player he was at Juve a few seasons ago but he’d still add that steel and bite we clearly miss in midfield - especially in the big games.
Would be cheap in today’s market and would free up Pogba, whether that be in a midfield three or playing as the 10 in a 4-2-3-1.
“Sometimes, when we have a choice between players for the same position, I have an important role to play in choosing the one we should go for. At Real Madrid, when it was between Toni Kroos and another player, I told the general director, ‘I know this other player. He drinks a lot and he is not very professional. You have to go for Kroos.’ I got Kroos.” - Carlo Ancelotti. “Quiet Leadership: Winning Hearts, Minds and Matches”.
Sanchez was a Barcelona cast off.No thanks, I don't want other club's cast-offs at United.
And we know he is talking about Vidal because... ?No, thank you.
Because we can connect the dots. It is not that difficult to be honest. Their relationship in Bayern is completely irrelevant however. Ancelotti didn't buy him. Being already there Ancelotti made a sensible decision to make the most of it (meaning play him if there is nobody better). And we know he is talking about Vidal because... ?
As a side note, Vidal of course was a sure starter under Ancelotti at Bayern.
All I know is that if Bayern are happy to let him leave, we should be suspicious.
Huge red flag. We already have enough immaturity on and off the pitch. We don't want to sell him just because he isn't good enough anymore.
Ancelotti wanted Tolisso and we bought him, now we had the chance to get Goretzka for free while Vidal will only have one year left on his contract in the summer.
Without Tolisso and Goretzka i'm pretty sure that our board would have wanted to extend Vidals contract.
Vidal is not as good anymore as in his prime but for me that is mainly due to the fact that he doesn't seem to bother anymore in games against smaller teams. In big games he is still among our best players most of the time. Since Heynckes is back he is also much better again in "normal" games.
The PL would suit him perfectly and i think that he would be more motivated than in our "one horse race" league.
I don't think that we will demand (much) more than 40mio € and as others have said...he might not be a long term solution, but i could very well see him strengthen your squad for at least two seasons.
Fair point. Looking at his injury record, it's been pretty normal the last few seasons. He didn't suffer from any major injury since upon joining us. I have no idea why people still keep bringing this up. He definitely still has 2 more seasons of top-flight football in him. Not a long term solution, sure, but definitely worth a look if you value short term success.

Were we to play a 4-2-3-1 with Vidal in the side, I would expect the Chilean to play as the no.10 and Pogba to continue in the deeper pair. Unless Vidal is playing deeper now that he’s getting older?
This makes absolutely no sense.I would never buy from Bayern again. Hargreaves (ok he had a few decent games) and Schweinsteiger were overall not good overall value for money.
What? Those are his suspensions due to yellow cards, not his yellow cards. And only two of those suspensions concern Bayern, the rest are from Chile NT in Copa America/WC qualiSUSPENSIONS & ABSENCES: At Bayern just 6 yellow cards. I would have expected him to have more.

I don’t see his style of play aging well either.------------Matic
-------Vidal-----Pogba
Sanchez---Lukaku--Martial
I'd steer clear though. Not the player he was and his dynamic style means he won't have longevity ala Pirlo or Scholes.
Why would we be obsessed with something close to Roy Keane?IF Utd sign Vidal then he is the nearest thing to Roy Keane we have signed since he hung up his boots! He is proven quality, experienced at the highest level, box to box, and would comfortably be an upgrade on any midfielder we currently have bar Pogba!
Why would we be obsessed with something close to Roy Keane?
Since Roy Keane, we've had our most successful spell ever. 3 titles and 3 CL finals in 4 years without a Keane type.
Get me the closest thing to Sir Alex and I'll be happy.
