Arturo Vidal

As per usual, bossing it today again. Goretska who?

Arturo played as the deepest midfielder today, and made 14 fecking tackles, what a beast.

according to chilean media, Alexis and Vidal don't get along, always competing to be the main star of the team.
Who cares how their personal relationship really is?

In fact, they are not precisely buddies and most probable is that outside of the pitch, they hate each other. The one thing important though, and the one that really matters, is that when both have played for the same team (basicly for the Chilean National Team and for Colo-Colo 2007, club which won both chilean championships that year), they complement each other perfectly, where both have the enough maturity as players, to put aside their personal feelings towards each other, and do what is best for the team (even playing the ball, with each other, if it is for the best for the game).

Btw, not as if it is so important (as it really isn't), Sanchez may seem to be a very nice type of person (smiles and jokes a lot), where many people believe that he has a strong social behaviour, but truth is, that he is a very self-centered person, where most of the times doesn't share much of his time with those who surround him and restricts it, to the pitch. Vidal, in this aspect, is the completely opposite.

He publically tried to lure him to Bayern. Can't be that bad.
Still doesn't mean they are friends.

Both know pretty well what the other is capable of doing in the pitch, and as both always have in mind that their main goal as players for whichever team they play in, is to win at the end, it's not improbable that they will use all their influence to try to have the other signed in their teams. At this point for them, friendship is the least of their concerns (usually, hard working people get atracted to other hard working guys), and both are hard workers. As posted before, they probably aren't friends, but together as team mates (which they also know), they can make things happen.

If by any chance they happen to develop "certain" friendship while they are at it together, would be a bonus. But in history record books, no one will remember them for being good friends, but for the amount of championship titles or succesful runs, they achieve to get together, which would add up numbers, to each of their respectful footballing careers on their own.

After all, when it gets to their professionalism, a good work ratio, is lots more important and comes before friendship.

Well said. Nobody cares if they are "bff" outside the pitch. Reminds a bit of the Zamorano-Salas issue. What matters is that whenever they've played together, they absolutely kill it; plus they get to laugh at their own buddies:

Vidal said today that he doesn't want to leave Bayern. He and his family are happy in Munich.
He would like to extend his contract. He said he never felt better and is one of the best ZM in the world.

So he isn't afraid of Goretzka and would like to stay. I still think we should go for him because he won't like the bench.

Would love Vidal and another CM. Wouldn’t want to have to replace Matic and Vidal in 2 years.

Just completely put off signing box-to-box players that are 30+. Part of what makes these players so fantastic is their energy and workrate in their combative nature, once they start to lose that stamina and their legs start to go they really become pointless and actually hinder a team. Maybe not all decline the way Schweinsteiger did for us but it's put a bad taste in my mouth.
