Anyway, it's time we got back ot the important stuff...

I've been told that the Sneijder thread in the newbs had around 29,000 posts - anybody know the exact number?

With only 5 days left, we really need to push on if we're going to claim that undisputed all-time record!

How much more can we spend without running into FFP implications?

Could have payed £150 million for Di Maria and still signed Vidal and would've been fine. As for next year we can spend about £150-200 million depending on top 4.

This is happening isn't it?, i'm VERY pessimistic regarding transfers involving us (can you blame me after recent years?) but i just get the feeling that we are getting Vidal, i even feel it could already be done.

How are you working that out?
He's right to be fair, FFP is based on revenue and ours is about £800mil with this year and last year. Also don't forget that a lot of transfer deals are paid over a set number of years rather than being paid all in one go.

Anyone know what wages Vidal is on at Juve? Heard that it's quite low.

If we get this done, this will be a benchmark for how a transfer is nailed by a club. From monitoring to considering to readying to preparing to bidding and finally getting a deal done.

We'll do a Spurs next season and not spend anything 'if' we get Vidal and rightfully so as we wouldn't need to strengthen anywhere else other than defense.

I think any purchases we make in January transfer window or next summer would have to come from player sales.

I think we'd go for Strootman and a CB.

I disagree, maybe we wouldn't buy any top class expensive players next year but i'm sure we would buy a fair amount of squad players and younger players to slowly replace the absolute shite we have in the squad.

I think what we do next summer may be dictated by if we finish in a cl spot or not at the end of the year... our precious commercial revenues / sponsorship would have to come under threat if we went two years out of the cl and not spending money to fight to ensure (or at least try to ensure) we get in there at the third time of asking

Anything that is going to happen has to happen now. We need some strong smoke to be fogging up the caf actually.

Yeah that would come from shipping those shite out mate, we could get around £40m for selling Cleverley/Felliani/Nani/Anderson/Fletcher/Young and possibly Kagawa.

I think there as to be a limit, if we sign Vidal, we would have spent £200m on players 2014, i think that's a record for any club in a calendar year, Real Madrid/PSG and Barcelona included.

And £40m we get from player sales would be more than enough to bring in say 2 quality defenders and a further squad signing.

Right, I gave up on this about a month or so ago. But I'm back and reporting for duty. This is definitely happening.

isnt cleverly in the last year of his contract also Anderson, Fletcher so they could all sign for free at xmas for a european club or for an english club next summer

Kagawa and Young expire 2016 so unless we sell them now their value next summer is unlikley to be much more than 10 million combined

and getting fellaini / nani to move with the wages they are on is going to be very tough - we even had to pay nanis wages to get him out on loan!

How are you working that out?

Because we're miles ahead of FFP, we've had revenue of around £400+ million for 13/14, and next year its expected to break the £500 mark with out new sponsors.

Im surprised nobody has thought of the possibility that there is a certain club out there, very attractive that have just found themselves 60m to spend and at least 1 midfielder to replace...

The reason they sold Di Maria was because they'd signed two classy midfielders, why would they replicate the problem by signing Vidal?
