I think we should hold our horses and not get too down about this just yet. Once United are back from their tour, LvG will start clearing out the deadwood and bring in his OWN targerts. Lets not forget; he was handed a list of already confirmed targets when he came to United and gave the OK for 2 of them. They weren't his targets but he liked Shaw and Herrera so he gave the go ahead. Now he has had time to assess the squad, he can get rid of who he feels isn't settling in to his philosophy and bring in players for the areas he feels need strengthened. In which case, I'm not giving up on getting Vidal. There is still plenty time to get him. August 31st is the deadline no matter when anyone else says. If United come up with the cash and Vidal expresses his desire to leave for a new challenge then this deal is well and truly on.
