Arturo Vidal

I have a newb by the name of @LoSpritz PM'ing me with his take on the translation. He's an English teacher living in Italy apparently, who speaks fluent Italian. Here's his take on it, in the context of me asking how accurate this translation is - https://www.redcafe.net/threads/arturo-vidal-a-non-story-so-far.373770/page-280#post-16124802

That translation is pretty accurate and covers the important parts!

There are some on the thread confused about the "hands" (mani)
He doesn't say mani, he says "rimani", (I stay, I stay).
But honestly, everyone needs to relax and consider the fact he's just been jumped on by sky at the airport.
It was not the time and the place to say anything. He just gave the typical response, and here in Italy you are not expected to tell the truth, believe me.
Imo it's still on, and I'm a pessimist!

And also says:
Well I can tell you that the original Italian wording in context was that he was going to be in Italy next week rather than flying to Manchester, so yes it's good news!

Btw the muppet who said that he said he was going to be "cheerful" next week translated the name of the coach "Allegri" (cheerful in Italian). Awesome.

Indeed. Definitely worth pointing out that we had De Gea signed up and a fee agreed and still us, Atletico, De Gea and his agent all denied anything was happening to the point that papers were still linking us to loads of other keepers and were absolutely oblivious to it.
That's why I was looking for you, soon you will make us believe again that we are going to sign hime... We need your positive input in this thread when chips are down.

Btw, I am here as well, in case if you are not aware of my existence in this forum.

This interview means nothing anyway, he clearly just wanted to get home after a long flight and was just trying to get rid of the reporter

"Interview"

It was a pesky, unauthorised reporter shoving a mic in his face asking Vidal to give him to biggest football exclusive of the summer. It means feck all.

Well it's nice to meet you Sherzad, apologies for my bluntness, I was knee deep in guano in the kitchen at the time but now it's all good.

I got a felling he is going to Real Madrid.

Can't see it happening. All of Bale, Ronaldo and James will surely start when fit and Kroos is a new toy as well. I can't see them splashing out another £50m to replace Modric, who'd stroll into basically any team on the planet.

And also says:
Lastly:
Interesting at the end, the interviewer pushes him again
"Are you staying?"
After the fourth time he says
"I don't know"

Oh, and it's his voice all the way

And also says:

The rimani part has already been cleared up. See a few posts above. It wasn't Vidal who said 'Rimani, rimani'. It was someone else.

Is anyone good at hacking? Get hacking into MUTV and check if theres any saved videos of Vidal and secret meetings with Woody. Someone done it to Man City and released it about Mangala completing his transfer why cant someone have a look for us??

Real

Are you going to manchester? NO.

How can that not change your opinion, he literally said NO.
Well, duh. Why would he be going to Manchester? The team is in the US.

Clearly he's going to soon be meeting up with the team in Denver or Washington.

As I understand it, he disagrees and thinks it was his voice all the way through.

Both Mockney and Vialli92 agree with me now that it's not Vidal's voice. You don't have to speak Italian to hear it. Clear difference in voice.

After listening a few times through myself, I agree that it's not Vidal's voice. I was just passing on @LoSpritz translation and opinion.

Yep it does not sound like Vidal at all when u really listen to it. I made a mistake about the translation of him saying he was staying it was the fan all along.

A lot of clutching at straws tonight. It's well and truly off Im afraid. I am absolutely gutted. My biggest muppet transfer to date.

On to the next target........who the feck is that then?

He has already PM'd you, but for anyone else interested, this is enough to help my inner muppet sleep easy tonight:
He's right, sorry I was referring to the end of the video.
I've just PM'd him an explanation :

It's true at that point, in fact "rimano" is "I'm staying", "rimani" is "are you staying?"
It happened really fast, but at the end they ask him again and he says
"Non lo so" "I don't know"

The more I watch the video, the happier my inner muppet is :)

@LoSpritz has now confirmed via PM as well.

Just one thing, check the video again. At the point 'rimani rimani' is mentioned, it was someone else's voice, not Vidal's. I don't speak Italian but another Italian named Vialli_92 has confirmed now that it wasn't Vidal saying that even though that's what he thought initially.

Hope that helps, and I'd be happy to help in the future if needed

:D It's ON lads!!!

Suit yourself. Our resident Italian speaking caftards along with me listening carefully have decoded that video. It's still very much ArturON.

I love redcafe sometimes. What a debate about video in which Vidal just answer no everytime. He is nice enough to give an autographs to the kids and jurnalist just attack him with the mic. It is obvious that he don't want to say anything and we shall wait and see what happens next week.

Hilarious that several papers and Sky are running with the original, completely false translation.
He does say no to Man United in the interview, we made an error on an earlier part of the interview. It still seems like it's all up in the air tbh.

It's not off until he sorts out his future with Juve. Nothing's over just yet, he won't come out and say I'm joining United. Even if he said "I'm definitely staying" he could still sign for us, these are all meaningless words. The fact that he doesn't know if he will stay at Juve or not is telling, something is going on behind the scenes and i doubt anyone but us would be in for Vidal. We won't have a better chance to sign a world-class player so easily.

I'm starting to question whether alot of this speculation has to do with his agent creating a buzz to get Vidal a new contract Rooney style. According to some research, his contract expires in 2017 which by then he'd be 30 and not the best age to negotiate a huge deal. At his age and with his standing as one of the best right now, this is the best and maybe last chance for him to land one last huge multi year deal at a top European club. All the media speculation is coming from Chile and Italy, places where Vidal's team will have the most ties. The agent feeds the press stories about Real Madrid and Manchester United, whether true or not (I highly doubt Real Madrid's interest), but it makes other clubs take notice and causes a bidding war where the money offered to player and agent increase.

I can guarantee that if he comes back on Monday and pledges his future to Juventus, a new deal for Vidal will be announced shortly thereafter.

He negotiated his new deal in November. 3 years on a deal that leaves him at 30 give Juve all the leverage in contract talks.

That would be quite embarrassing wouldn't it.

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/85219.html

"I haven't signed anything," the 20-year-old said. "I'm happy here and have a contract until 2013, so now the essential target is to get the team into Europe and when the league finishes, we'll see. Until the end of the season, nothing will be decided.

"I've been with Atletico for many years and have real affection for the club. If Atletico want to fight for me then it would be very difficult to leave. It is my club forever."

Even for Real's standards, Rodriguez, Kroos and Vidal in one window would be fecking ridiculous.

The other reason I don't think Real are in for Vidal is because the hasn't been much talk of it. Considering how the media seemed to know everything about the transfer of Kroos and Rodriguez from start to finish, I think we'd have heard more by now. Real haven't been linked with Vidal any more than Liverpool have, and surely we can all agree that'll never happen.

I'm talking about them having the quote as him actually saying "I'm not going to Manchester" rather than being asked and giving a rushed answer as he is being pursued through a busy airport.

 This thread has gone off the deep end.

Oh right, well the media always likes to twist the words of people to make it out to be something completely different. Nothing surprising really.

Fair point, but James satisfies the Real Madrid ridiculous transfers criteria more than Vidal does. I doubt they'd ever splash out huge money on a 27 year old all-round midfielder like Vidal. James is a young attacking player who's hugely hyped and off the back of a very impressive World Cup, which basically made him a dead cert to become the next player caught up in the Barca-Real transfer pissing contest.
