It's not hard to see where the main problem lies.

Even before the penalty shootout, it was a bad day for them with missing chances, being frustrated by 10 men for an hour and more players getting injured.
Arteta will be under pressure to turn around that Newcastle tie.
It’s unlikely but you never know. That game’s on February 5th. They sign a striker, get into bit of form, Newcastle get out of it or 1-2 key players get injured… They’re not out yet as difficult as it’ll be.Pressure? Most of their fans think they are out of it. 2 years in a row, they haven't scored a goal at Newcastle away, and now they have to score 3? With this attack? I don't see it happening, unless they get an early red card, and 2 penalties.

I think signing a couple of forwards is more about staving off the competition for top 4 than it is about competing for the title. Liverpool are 6 clear, have a game in hand, a superior goal difference and much better forwards than Arsenal. No way Arsenal claw that back when Salah's in the form he's in and Saka is out for either the majority or entirety of the rest of this season.Jesus' injury could be a blessing for Arsenal. Currently no Saka, no Jesus, no Nwaneri. They need a ST and a winger, ideally someone who can play both on left and right flank. They get one or both of these positions and it improves their attack and the whole atmosphere around the team. Then title can be on and they may even have a chance in 2nd leg at Newcastle.

Of course. This year it has nothing to do with not caring about the cup. We have injuries and are playing shit.So are arsenal fans still happy to get sent packing out the cups because it’s all about the league?
The time wasting before each set piece is really tedious. I've seen and heard it mentioned in articles and podcasts a few times since yesterday, so it looks like it's a widespread feeling. Obviously Jover has done great work with their set pieces (even though a lot of it amounts to impeding opposition players and especially the goalkeeper and hoping it doesn't get sanctioned), but the fact they've made this the crux of their gameplan, the pauses, just make it really tedious.Arteta is ruining the Arsenal legacy. A team known for playing great entertaining football has now become a team of cheats.
A team that plays for set pieces, take 2/3 minutes preparing for the set piece with a board meeting everytime they get a set piece.
They had a 6 player meeting for a direct freekick that Odegard fired over.
To be fair we need them to buck up their ideas in the league. So are arsenal fans still happy to get sent packing out the cups because it’s all about the league?

Its a shame that a team going for the title is resorting to such tactics. Normally, you would assume that having great set pieces is just another trick to the armory, but for Arsenal it is their main weapon. Its almost the crowd get excited when they get a set piece, the players all huddle around having a COBRA meeting, then the taker delays taking it.
As a Liverpool fan. I hate them more than United and Everton. I dislike United and Everton cos Im meant to but I still respect them. Arsenal I absolutely loathe. Despicable Club.I think I dislike them more than Liverpool
My mate said yesterday that they have a mural of their set piece coach and I assumed he was taking the piss. It gave me a good laugh in an otherwise tense 2 hours.
Weird bunch.Yep, apparently I can only go by what I have heard, they have one with Havertz and his dog?
The "you know what you are" chant was audibly loud when he was lining up the penalty.Good that an unnamed player in his 30's got a run around at least
I agree that Liverpool are big favourites even if Arsenal strengthen. However, Liverpool while being better than others don't look unbeatable. Imagine if Salah gets injured for them like Saka did for Arsenal and suddenly they aren't that good. Most probably won't happen but Arsenal have to go in the market and get at least a striker to have a chance. They're down mentally atm and Arteta has to lift the atmosphere for them to beat Spurs and stay in the race. Yes they lost last 2 games but with better finishing could've been different outcome so can't let their season fall apart this early. Last season they lost couple of games towards New Year and got knocked out of the Fa Cup. After that they went on a great run and basically title wasn't decided until last day of the season. I know they looked better then than now but still...I think signing a couple of forwards is more about staving off the competition for top 4 than it is about competing for the title. It's possible that Liverpool maybe have a little bit of a wobble but I think they've built up enough of a barrier that they'd be able to survive that. I also think they've got a bit more to them in attack than just Salah. While he's obviously their best attacker, they don't feel quite as reliant on him to function as Arsenal do with Saka.I agree that Liverpool are big favourites even if Arsenal strengthen. All clear but my point is while it doesn't look likely, it's not done yet if they sign a striker. Signing Bruno in January 2020 changed whole season for us. If they get someone, they may fail to win a title. If they don't get anyone, they'll fail surely. It's possible that Liverpool maybe have a little bit of a wobble but I think they've built up enough of a barrier that they'd be able to survive that. I'm not convinced Arsenal will be able to sign the players they need to turn their fortunes around in January. It's almost halfway through the window and there's barely even been a link of substance yet. They look almost incapable of scoring at the moment and their goalscoring output in general has regressed this season outside of set pieces.
They drew to Brighton, were beaten comprehensively at home by Newcastle and couldn't put us away despite having a man advantage for an hour of that game (and a penalty in normal time). Maybe you're hoping Liverpool don't win the league, which is fair enough, but there's not much evidence to suggest they won't right now.
