if he's only doing well because he inherited a good side that doesn't actually need coaching, how does that translate to Amorim turning things around for you guys?

The only thing Amorim can do to be remotely successful is turn a lot of players towards the door and push them out of it.

Surely the winner getting 80 points is a signifier that the league is tough? Especially when second only manage 71. When teams are getting 95-100 points it suggests the league isn’t competitive.

You’re right. I remember the interview on the pitch with Giggs after the 10/11 title win - the journalist more or less suggested it was a ‘poor side’, to which Giggs issued a swift correction.

It means there is a lot of margin for error. Lose 4 out of the first 8 games? Not the end of the world. Your rivals will probably be beaten by quite a few other teams in the top half of the table while you get a chance to put together a run.
The high 90 point races between City and Liverpool had such little room for error that trailing by 6 points going into Feb basically meant the title was gone, so almost every game was high stakes. It's that kind of trauma that's got the caf crapping its pants and crowning Liverpool league winners in November this time. Previously, we wouldn't even think about the league table until the new year.
But the title race only really comes down to head to head between 1-2. Most teams in that season rolled over for City and Liverpool and the games were lost before they begun with teams focusing their energy and resources on games they could win.
How did Liverpool get the better Dutch manager. Slot is basically doing what we hoped ten hag was going to do both on a tactical and technical front.

My point is that in these relatively low points total seasons, that doesn't necessarily happen. We've even had our title rivals do the double over us and we still went on to win the league. Like that 2009 season.
Putting all that aside, I felt many of our title winning points totals under Fergie were low because we took our foot off the gas when the title was won or almost certain to be won. He was a master at doing just what was necessary to complete the job. I'm sure if he knew from the outset that he had to get 95+ to win the league, he'd have done it a few times.
Quite easy. They’ve been set up for success for a few years now. Klopps tactics cost them a few title as he likes to play much more attacking football. Slots brought them a lot of discipline which is the reason they don’t concede many. We’ve been a mess for years with wrong signings/wrong managers etc. so we failed most of our managers.
Yeah I feel like they don't have it in them, but were they to win then the picture changes completely.
I believe that if Klopp had left in 2023 with the squad as it was then, we'd be struggling more under Slot than we are now. Klopp adding a whole new midfield and giving them a year together has given Slot a great foundation to build upon.
I'm sure everyone on the Arsenal/Chelsea/City/Liverpool forums discredited it vigorously.
Everyone does this. Feyenoord has only ever won titles because Ajax and PSV had off years according to Ajax and PSV fans.
Definitely but one has to acknowledge the fantastic job Slot has done so far. He made you tougher to score against whilst maintaining the floodgates open going open.
Given Man City's mini-implosion and Arsenal being Arsenal, the league is honestly yours to lose.

You can argue this in all kinds of directions. Even one team ending on full points doesn't necessarily indicate a weak league, the team might just be that good. It's pointless to try and argue either way purely on the basis of points outcomes.

Yeah, I read a lot about that around here which is normal given is a Manchester United forum but now people are trying to take credit away from Slot saying the team was always good, etc.
Klopp deserves some credit in the sense that he made Liverpool challenge for major titles and was able to step aside when he felt he couldn't improve the team anymore. Had he wanted he could have stayed more time and just wait to get sacked like most managers do, so I respect managers like him. As from Slot I really didn't know who this guy was before Liverpool apointed him but he has been doing very good, better than what most people would had expected.
It's still quite early to do any definitive judgments but it seems Liverpool found a manager who was able to play to their players strenghts and what Klopp had already built upon.
Agreed with this. Klopp had to rebuild the full midfield last season, and as you will likely agree, that was a season or 2 overdue.
What it did leave is a very good, competitive squad, with a good age profile, experienced players like Van Dijk, Salah, Allison, Robertson, and players in their prime like Trent, Jota, Diaz, Mac Allister, Jones.
So Klopp and Liverpool deserve a lot of credit leaving a squad that didn't need a total rebuild.
However, you've also got to credit Slot with recognising this, and not insisting on going out and buying players 'just to make his mark'. He also deserves a lot of credit for trusting in Gravenberch especially to do that physical midfield role for him which was the 1 area everyone accepted needed an upgrade on from the previous season, and giving him the confidence to allow him to perform as well as he has.
There's obviously other tweaks he's made tactically and the like, but what's impressed me most is he has the self awareness and the self confidence to not change too much for changing sake, whereas a lot of managers ego wouldn't allow them to do that.
Yeah I agree. It's always tempting for a manager to walk in the door and make his own signings, but we weren't a side that needed major surgery and Slot did well to recognize that. I think it's why the club picked him vs going for someone else. We were linked with Amorim but didn't believe we had the squad for 3-4-3. Slot's style of play was considered closer to Klopp's and he probably felt like he could work wit the squad we had.
What happens as the season goes on will be interesting. I'm sure we'll drop points somewhere down the line, but he's done incredibly well so far.
If he'd arrived in 2023, he'd have to replace Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago etc. We signed four midfielders that summer (Endo, Gravenberch, Mac Allister & Szobozslai) with Klopp at the helm. That was crucial going into this season for Slot because three of those have been regular starters for him.
Jones is starting to flourish as well. Excellent last night.
Very impressive so far. 
I still can't bring myself to take him seriously. Extra long managerial bounce.

Well done to him for doing so well so far. Obviously Liverpool are in a better shape as a team and club but still frustrating how we had 2 Dutch coaches who both failed while Liverpool got the right one straight away it seems. Solid foundations left by Klopp and having a new manager probably refreshing to some of their players.

20 games in so far. 17 wins. 2 draws and the only loss coming to Forest at home.
The trick is getting one who hasn't worked at Ajax. As Ajax will indoctrinate you with the fact that the only way to play football is their way.

Not seen much of them this season but I thought he was meant to be more measured and less aggressive than Klopp- this has been a very Klopp like performance with the intensity and transitions.

Conte in 16/17 is also a contender definitely. Also Ranieri obviously in 15/16 which is different level of great achievement.
I havent really watched them until this season, but these first 20 minutes were the first time they played a bit like we did under him.
I don't expect City to get anything because Anfield is a fortress.
Yet he played at times at Feyenoord more Ajax style than the Ajax themselves.. what is impressive so far at Liverpool is his ability to adapt because he is basically playing the Klopp football with added balance and defensive organisation now..
