Arjen Robben

Looked class on Friday night against us, still has his pace and two deadly finishes, we did have James Collins in defence but thats not the point, i'd have him at OT for a cut price.

To be honest it would be a waste of money to buy him and pay him his wages because to land him he'd be looking for one last pay day and at least a 3 year contract. During those three years if he didn't decline too badly, fine but how many games will he miss the injury? No worth it in my opinion.

In every season with Bayern - even if he was injured half of it - he had atleast 26 scorerpoints (goals + assists) in all competitions. He cannot be as expansive as some other of your recent "bargains" have been...:D

Never mind Robben, we should be trying to buy Coman - he's the future
true - but Bayern have the option to buy built into the loan so I cant see him being available to us - the fact that they have the option on him is probably one of the reasons we are being linked with Robben - because as you say Coman is the future (Coman---Martial---Griezman will be quite an attack for the French in the years to come)

Are you so sure Pep wants Müller?

And you can have t-mobile when we can keep Paulaner and Audi. And yes, dress in Armani.

And I guess Pep prefers Armani and Audi to a Chevrolet... - maybe you can win with a wine partner?
Gotze, Muller Neuer and Lewandowski are wearing ankle biters.

The reason is that there is some English journalist sitting in his office not having a story. And then Arjen Robben does not start in the match against Arsenal... (Robben just came back from injury!)

No for me. Ideally I want LVG leaving a great young team and I think I can almost see that coming to fruition if we find a replacement for Carrick next summer. Robben was and is class when fit but I'd much rather find the next Robben whilst we have a manager who picked out Martial and may just find pick out another gem.

Nothing has changed in the Robben situation at Munich. I just want to add something to that what your wrote. Arjen is a big example for somebody that really works hard for his success. It is often even at or above the limit and you have to slow him down. But I think that is the reason why others in the Bayern squad have made such a big development over the years as they knew that they had too work so hard, too, to be successful. The problem is not finding young talented players - but to find that young talented player that has both the mentality and the will to not think that now that he is a pro he can slow down working but that it is just the start of it. That it is talent, hard work, mentality and to have a professional lifestyle.

Surely we won't pay nearly 50 mill for him as he a) isn't getting a game and b) is pretty old.

I think it all depends. If the price is reasonable, considering their age, then why not but if they want like 50-70M for players entering the twilight of their career, then no thanks, I think we can spend our money more wisely than that.

Exactly, especially with Robben injuries. No one wouldn't take Ronaldo or Robben for free or a reasonable fee. But why should Bayern or Real do us that favor?

Bayern were reasonable enough with regard to Schweinsteiger's fee in the summer. If Robben wants to leave I doubt they will be that fussed given his age and how good Costa and Coman look.

Guardiola wasn't really counting on Schweinsteiger anymore though. I think the situation is different for Robben and certainly for Ronaldo, so I don't think that they any of those will be available for a bargain price that Schweinsteiger was.

I agree, they wouldn't really want to do ourselves or any other potential rival any favors. However, it seems petty to make it unnecessarily difficult for players -who have served them so well- from enjoying one final top level swansong. Refer to our own situation regarding Evra and Juventus. If clubs no longer want the player, or is at least prepared to sell them, then i think a reasonable fee is more likely in that instance.

You would expect clubs to tend to be far less reasonable when it's players (or agents) who attempt to engineer a move against the wishes of the club in question. I wouldn't expect that to be the case with either Ronaldo or Robben.

Ronaldo would cost a stupid amount but I think Bayern would let us have Robben pretty cheap. Like Schweinsteiger he is old and has had a lot of injury problems. Costa and Coman are close to making him surplus. Plus his poor relationship with arguably their best player.

If Bayenr decided to sell Robben, there's no way they would ask for a lot of money. £12m tops.

What poor relationsship? And unlike Schweinsteiger, he's always coming back as good as ever. We won't sell, no way, there have never been any indications.

bringing in players like robben will help all young attackers at mufc. I'd gladly take him on an 18 month contract, if that's even possible.

No, yes, but still no, and no.

Coman isn't close to making him surplus ffs. Coman's a 19 year old who barely played at the top level until this season. He did surprisingly well, but if everyone is fit in the 2nd half of the season, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets significantly less playing time.

There's not the slightest chance that Robben will leave in January, if that's what's still discussed. He's clearly still one of the best matchwinners in the world and can easily make the difference in the CL. It's a different story in the summer though, if Robben really wants to leave. His contract runs until 2017 if I'm not mistaken, so yeah, with his injury record and his age, if he asked to leave next summer, I doubt it'll be an expensive signing with only one year left on his contract. Still, it's not really comparable to Schweinsteiger, who always had the desire to play abroad, while Robben often talked about the desire to retire in Munich, because he already played in 4 different countries.

Generally I am not the biggest fan of buying a (then) 32 old Player with injury Problems.

On the other Hand he should be quite cheap and looking at our unexciting attacking Displays he would immediately improve us. We have enough Young Players with "potential".

I you think Bayern would let Robben go on the cheap you're dreaming. Key player. Would, however, solve most of our attacking worries in a flash. I would actually have him over Ronaldo.
