Arda Turan

Can he play in Iniesta's position?
Yes, which is why this makes no sense from Arda's perspective. He could've been a key player for a number of great clubs but decides to be a part time player instead.

And that clause

Is it essentially a "if we can still get Pogba we'll return you" clause?:lol::lol:

I really want them to sell him back just for the shits and giggles

This might sound daft but I really do question the motivation and dare I say professionalism of a player who signs a deal that means he can't play for 6 months.

Ofcourse he'l play. They'l just loan him out to a club not in Europe.

It's essentially 4 months between the beginning of September and the end of December. It's not that bad, Suarez was suspended for not much less last season and he survived.

Don't see the big deal of missing 6 months. Suárez missed 4 months and Arda will be able to do preseason, train and play all friendlies.

I'm not sure the player can be loaned out since he can't be transfered to Barcelona. The loan would have to come from atlético and supposedly he has already been signed by Barcelona.

Actully Iniesta will probably spend more time on the bench starting next season. he's not getting younger and already wasn't that good for us in the league.

Another reason for the buy back is that if another board gets elected, who didn't want him in the first place, can just sell him. The whole thing is stupid and unnecessary. Bartomeu is a massive cnut.

Suarez didn't chose to miss that time.

It's just weird to me.

Great clause with the buy-back etc.
Not sure what the complaining is about, elections soon and gives flexibility.

Chelsea should have bought him . They would have sold him back for 70 million .

But why the hell would the player agree to sign with a clause like that?

He'll be so excited to be a Barca player but in a couple weeks time they can just say "nah, we don't want you," and then poof, he's not.

What if Athletico don't want to buy him back but Barca do?

£30m for a player that's not needed and is quite possibly on the decline? Hmmm.

I'm just glad we're nowhere near this.

Never seen a clause like that before. Between Turan and Alderweireld, Atletico have some weird shit going on with their contracts.

I doubt it. He's a £29m signing, they won't be risking possible injury.

It's 6 months, not a week or so. They wouldn't even think of depriving him of actual match practice for this long. I'd be shocked if he isn't loaned out. Training sessions can never substitute for match practice.

He really doesn't seem like a player that would suit them.

Terrible signing for Barcelona in my view. Not good enough to start but too expensive and old to be a good rotation signing.

He isn't going to play there if he joins. What's the point? Pedro is barely playing now they are going to be sharing sub appearances between two of them

Hasn't the other candidate promised Pogba if he wins? There's no fecking way they can for iniesta, Rakitic and these 2 in the same team. I hope the other guy wins just to see how things develop.

I thought Barca was under a transfer ban this season...
Lets be honest. The only thing UEFA can really do is stop them from playing the players. Which is working. They will always be able to sign players if not on paper then a verbal agreement.

And as others have said, he'll have a tough time getting into that Barca side. Will probably be loaned to some PL side in a few seasons.

Good business from Atlético. Selling him for top dollar to a club that can't play him for 4 months.

So if the new Barca board decide to sell him back, can Athletico refuse?

That would honestly be amazing.

I doubt he cares what you think

Why would he go to Barca ? He's barely going to get a game, another Alex Song kind of signing for Barca.

I was sure Arda was one of the players city would sign this summer

I think UEFA/FIFA if it actually wanted to could actually do much more , they just don't want to.

It's an odd signing. He's not worth 30 million. I can also see this being cancelled given the current president is set to be voted out from what I heard due to all the corruption.

Like what? If you prevent them from announcing on their website they will just have an agreement with Turan that he will sit out until Jan before presenting him officially and he will be happy to oblige. Important thing is they don't get to play him. UEFA can't be a fly on Barca office walls and listen to every one of their conversations with other players.

Exactly.
