Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Season 3 of Under the Dome just might be the worst season in the history of television everywhere. Well, probably not, but can't really now think of something worse. Not that I think very hard about it though, and this is really fresh in mind.

The Last Ship wasn't too bad. Almost an annoying level of patriotism though, with navy as portrayed there being a beacon of absolute goodness. Still, not that bad.

Just a little surprised you didn't enjoy any of those shows you mentioned. The Wire is not in my personal top 20 of greatest tv shows ever. Not saying its bad at all. Im also surprised you've never watched the Sopranos. Have you seen Dexter, Boardwalk Empire and Six Feet Under? Better still, Oz?
yeah, this is why nobody listens to you in here.

I might have to agree with you , just started it and the opening 2 eps are just madness, 3rd is not much better, but I have to watch them, I know season 4 is not going to happen, I hope they finish off the story.

How does one get as far as season 3 of Under The Dome, though? That is the question.

I'm rewatching Mad Men. Just finished Season 3. There is no show like this one. All these little subtle moments, phrases, exchanges of dialogue carrying so much meaning and power. Sometimes there would be seemingly nothing interesting happening for 50 minutes and one sentence in the end can give meaning to all of it and turn it into an amazing episode. Oh, it's painfully good.

I've just download season one of this onto the sky planner and watched the first episode.

I did watch that episode once before and didn't really get into it at all, but from the praise I've seen it get I've decided to watch season one in full and take it from there. I'm not sure I was paying full attention last time either which didn't help.

The dialogue does seem very good and I can already kind of see what you mean with the bit in bold. Will watch some more in the week.

It takes a while to get going. A real while. I was struggling to continue watching until maybe the 10th or 11th episode.

All I can say about the show is that it's the only one out there I'd put close to The Wire.

But what about Dexter?

I agree. Mad Men is my second favorite show after The Wire. I rate Mad Men higher than Breaking Bad and House of Cards which I've also watched.

You did the right thing. Stick with it for a while even if it doesn't get you hooked at first. It might not be for you, it happens, but I'd advise you to go through the entire season before making any conclusions. It does get better the more you watch it.

You research ancient history

Is 'Orange Is The New Black' a comedy? I only watched one episode but it didn't feel like a comedy to me.

Is that list everything you've seen? If so you're missing a few obvious big ones in The Sopranos, The Wire & Breaking Bad.

Off the top of my head seeing your list - The Wire, Rome, Sherlock, Narcos, House of Cards, Battlestar Galactica, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Breaking Bad, Band of Brothers, Firefly.

Scandal Season 5 and How to get away with Murder Season 3 both just started. Scandal opening episode was fantastic and gets straight into a heavy storyline, no messing about.

I also watched pilot episode for Limitless: a TV drama version of the movie. It started very well and includes Bradley Cooper. Am looking forward to seeing it develop.

I also watched the pilot episode Quantico: storyline about new FBI recruits going through initial FBI training. Fantastic opening episode. Feels like a mix between 24 and Criminal Minds. It features ex Miss India and ex Miss Universe Prianka Chopra who is simply gorgeous to look at and some other new but very promising actors.

+1 for Limitless, pilot looked pretty good, might be watching the film first before you start on the tv series.

Going to watch Narcos this week.

I tought it was pretty good too, but they're going to have a new case each week, and that kinda ruins it for me. It just gets repetitive too soon.

I watched the first season of Scream. It's pretty similar to the movies with a lot more teenage drama shit, so if you liked the movies you probably will like the show too.

Just finished David Simon's Show Me a Hero, don't think it has a thread?

Was a bit disjointed for my tastes, I didn't really care for some of the subplots but it was decent viewing. Oscar Isaac was brilliant as usual though, spoiler below.

I don't usually really get emotional watching anything but that scene in the final episode when he's alone in his bedroom and he's too vulnerable to even call his brother, who's downstairs, for help, just slayed me. Then Springsteen's "Lift Me Up" starts playing......I'm done.

I liked Narcos. Similar in quality and feel to Romanzo Criminale, and to a lesser extent, the recent 1992.

Others I rate are Spiral, Borgen, The Bridge, The Killing (Danish version), Arne Dahl - all the better BBC4 sat night foreign drama offerings. Also Isabel on Sky Arts.

Then all the obvious ones that already have tons of mentions on here: The Wire, The West Wing, Sopranoes, Game Of Thrones. Breaking Bad not quite as good as those four. The Newsroom was pretty good. First season of True Detective until the dire last episode. 2nd season was poorly constructed but still ok. Boardwalk Empire started well then progressively lost momentum. Rome was superb and Tudors reasonably good.

Three oldies that stand out are the original Traffik channel 4 series, Between the Lines and A Very Peculiar Practice.

I just recently started watching Friday night lights. I thought it was going to be shit, but I'm actually really enjoying it.

I'm in the middle of season 3 but find a few of the characters (Smash and Jason Street) so annoying that I skip most of their scenes. Most of the others are good. Saracen's grand mother is ace, especially when she accosted the coach in the supermarket.

Before that I was watching The Good Wife up until end of season 5 which is all Netflix have. The Affair was patchy.

You, Me and the Apocalypse was fun, as well as The Grinder. Both featuring Rob Lowe, who's great in both. YMA seems to be ensemble cast show dealing with the days before the apocalypse that comes in the shape of comet hitting the Earth. The Grinder is a shorter comedy show with Lowe playing the actor who used to play for years a lawyer character, and after his TV show ended, comes to home town and messes with his brothers real 'lawyering'. Fred Savage is there! Yes, of the Wizard fame!

Is Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls any good?

Just watching Pushing Daisies again so wondered if his other stuff was good.

For some reason the DVDs for The Wire are not available in Japan. I wanted to watch it with the wife and she needs Japanese subtitles. We've recently finished Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad and need something else to watch.
Any ideas? I don't want a comedy because Americans are not very funny. Something a bit dark would be good.

Daredevil?

Anyone else watched Scream on Netflix? Okay if your wanting something stupid to watch. Nothing brilliant but a decent watch.
