Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

The expanse was a good show but i wouldn't want to overhype it personally.
Its great if you love sci fi but i'm not sure someone who doesn't would get much from it. I'd say 8/10 occasionally hitting a 9.

Agreed. Im not hugely into sci fi and in some ways i prefer the ridiculousness of a Star Trek more than something like the Expanse. I watch sci fi as an escape - something seemingly so far removed from reality that it is exactly that. Once it takes itself too serious and too close to the depressing parts of society today I tend to lose interest.

The expanse is fine. It has some good highs but also pretty hammy acting at times. I think people go crazy for it because the book on is meant to be quite scientifically accurate but the show itself is very silly at moments.

How is expanse compared to something like Battlestar galactica, that's still the best sci fi show imo at least until the last 2 or 3 seasons. Its not necessarily about the sci fi for me though, the space battles and stuff are cool but its kind of like a darker mass effect, more character driven dealing with a lot of political and ethical crisises that showcase how fecked up humanity is, especially when fighting for survival.

Justified, Generation kill, Banshee, The Shield, Black sails, Rectify, Rome, Deadwood, Sons of anarchy, Oz, Six feet under etc. If you haven't seen any of these definitely have a look expect some of them are quite underrated now because they are old, other than the obvious in the wire, sopranos, breaking bad etc some of the best TV shows you will see.

The Expanse is basically Game of Thrones in Space.. on the contrary to what someone said earlier exactly the realistic factor of the show is what makes it so different and unique..

Is Lord of the Rings worth a watch? Tapped out after 4 or 5 episodes of the first season. Did it get better with the second season?

If you mean Rings of Power? First season is ok. Second season is an improvement all around.

I actually think it compares quite well to BSG. Both very good quality (particularly for sci-fi TV) and both have interesting political and social storylines that develop over the course of the series

BSG fans should like it and vice versa

It’s still quite shite; background noise level at best.

As for The Expanse, so far as I can tell its seasons 1-3 from before Amazon took over that are getting pulled…but those are the seasons you really need.

American Primeval is so so good.

I can't believe it's a 6 episode limited series. So many characters are instantly interesting and layered and could have rich back stories and the dynamics between the groups involved is fascinating. This had so much potential to be a 6-season show and I can't quite believe it's just a limited series.

Started watching The North Water with...Colin Farrell as well. Even though he is not as unrecognizable physically in this - he once again shows how much of a chameleon he is playing entirely different characters. Well and truly one of the greatest actors of his generation.

If you're a fan of moody previous century shows or those with naval settings like The Terror S1, Master and Commander, In the Heart of the Sea etc - you ll probably like this. I honestly can't quite get enough of those types of shows and movies. Not sure how I missed this when it first came out. Hopefully it is not one of those shows that results in an unsatisfactory conclusion because so far they are doing a very good job building up the characters and atmosphere.
Just finished this, one of the best things I've seen in years.

I love one tree hill. Dont know how i feel about the reboot though

Apparently, it's going to have Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush but no Bethany, Chad or James.

Can't believe they actually think there's a show without Nathan and Lucas.

Watched the first couple of episodes of Sugar, starring Colin Farrell as a private detective investigating the disappearance of a girl who is part of Hollywood royalty. A modern homage to the Humphrey Bogart movies. A friend recommended it and I'm enjoying it so far.

First season of BSG is exceptional, second very good, 3rd and 4th not very good at all.

Fell off badly.

Second season of the night agent is very good. But my god the main guy Peter has the goofiest run I've ever seen

Thats why im really unsure about it.

I wouldnt expect Chad to come back as he didnt want to return in the later seasons but it won't be the same without James and Bethany.

Anyway, what about the show itself ?

Seasons three and four are a hell of a ride. It gets really dark. Seasons 1 and 2 are really fun but it gets big the next one and absolutely peaks in the fourth.

If one person reading this gives the show a try, it's worh mentioning it.

The issue I had with the Expanse is that unlike Game of Thrones, it does not have a clear plotline; it just seems to go in semi-random directions every season.

Still an enjoyable show though.

Thank you to whoever recommended The North Water. Watched two episodes and it has been very very good.

Yeah well put, the protomolecule was a pretty interesting storyline but they just let it dispell somewhere between all the eight other plots.

Wow you got way ahead of me. Still only on E3. Does the ending wrap things up nicely so I know I'm not in for a disappointment at the end?
I got completely drawn in and binged it. The ending was fine but the series was so good that he could've woken up and found it was all a dream and I would've been fine with that. I can't thank you enough for the recommendation.

Watching the opening episode of season 2 now and I genuinely cant stop laughing at that stupid way he runs

Agreed. Decent show but certainly not the best sci-fi ever, that's over reaching by some distance given how hammy the acting is, how forgettable the story is and how mediocre the characters end up being (other than Amos, he's my boi).

Its definitely worth a watch.
The character growth and following each of their stories through dark times and coming out the other side.
I loved it that much that my daughter is named Brooke

Is the original Roots miniseries worth going with? Has it aged well?
