Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

2nd season of Old Man is out. Hope it’s as good as the first, which I’ll have to rewatch.

Has anyone started watching "Say Nothing" on FX/Disney plus yet? The book is supposed to be amazing so it's next on my watch list after slogging through the last series of House!
Just finished it this evening. It's an excellent and moving piece of work.

You sometimes forget how completely messed up Northern Ireland was during that period. This will give you a stark reminder.

Watched the first episode. The accents were alright (that's usually the worst thing about something from Norn Iron), but I still found it too cringe. There's a riot going on and they're just standing having a casual chat in the middle of it? Aye, right. And the whole 'the IRA were talent spotting for people who were strategists' angle is a bit far-fetched, imo. The people in my area who joined the RA were the head-the-balls and tearaways. They wanted cnuts who were mad enough to shoot at people and plant bombs.

And my Ma lived a few doors away from Gerry Adams and said he was "a strange being".

It's obviously a dramatisation of events with artistic licence, but it follows their story quite closely. Definitely worth watching through. Some links for anyone interested:

The Penguin so far is excellent, very good acting and production.

Also just finished bingeing Supernatural (15 seasons) I enjoyed that far more than I should have!!!

out of interest how long did 15 seasons take you? I'd be on that for a decade!

Are you not triggered by Do-lours, instead of Do-loris? That did my head in as well.

Utterly brilliant drama that gives an insight into the madness that was NI during the troubles.

Some have said the moral ambiguity was an issue but my better half, who suffered through her father and uncle being murdered as innocent victims of the troubles, was really impressed (and not a bit distressed).

You can't tell every story of every conflict in one 9 episode show. But this is a story well worth watching.

There are many great performances but Maxine Peake and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor deserve particular praise.

Finished tonight. A must watch although not always an easy watch.

The standard Taylor Sheridan show?
And the downhill is very quick in his shows, haven't watched that one. Doubt I give him a chance anymore. Basically he has enough for a pilot and then gives them to writers to finish, mainly by quickly escalating violence.

I thought Mayor of Kingstown and Yellowstone were consistent across several seasons so I do feel they give you a good 3 seasons at least.

Yellowstone I can agree on. And partially the historic ones, less so with MoK and TK. But depends on preferences obviously. They are an easy watch but not for me otherwise.

I can’t comment on the historical accuracy of it all (I’m aware that some people feel it’s too sympathetic towards Dolours Price) but as a human drama and character study it’s excellent. The acting is fantastic throughout, especially Lola Petticrew as young Dolours (, and it’s always visually interesting. But the Gerry Adams disclaimers at the end of every episode did make me laugh.

I'm on the second episode of Say Nothing, and like the poster above, I cannot comment on the historical accuracy but I'm really enjoying the acting in the show. FX can usually be trusted to churn out quality TV.

Incredible 7th episode of Day of the Jackal. It's been ages since I've watched such an edge of the seat thrilling episode of television.

Man on the Inside - Danson is brilliant as you’d expect and I love all of Schur’s other shows so unsurprisingly I really enjoyed it. I’m sure Netflix will cancel it though as per.
Schur has a great hit rate. This a comedy?

Enjoying Landman so far though the portrayal of women in the show is a bit, umm, interesting.

Only on the 2nd episode but finding the soundtrack annoying as feck. You don't need dramatic buildup music for every scene ffs.

Cheapens the whole show.

Huh? I haven't noticed the soundtrack specifically at all.

A Man on the Inside Superb. Ted Danson nails this and the rest of the cast is nearly as good. Rare for old age, and aging/Alzheimers specifically, to be dealt with in so unpatronising a way. Not often laugh out loud funny but charming to the Nth degree and tugs on the feels more than a little. Anyone who has experienced an elder with Alzheimer will struggle to get through this without tears of laughter and sadness. 9/10

The 8th episode of Day of the Jackal was another solid episode. This is up there with Say Nothing and The Penguin among the best shows of the year for me.

The story about the M16 lady is really boring and unconvinsing. Otherwise The day of the Jackal is great.
