The interview doesn't shine Ajax in good light as a development team for agents and starlets. Antony claims Ajax are aware that the project was for him to play with Ajax for 2 years, and that they were already informed in February and June that he wants to move on. No excuses for them in impeding his transfer.

Overmars getting me too'd really hurt them. Huntelaar and Hamstra are out of their depth

Haha wow, we literally said go public and he has!

just fecking let him leave

Then why are you having a go at Antony? He has every right to be fecked off. Why the feck does he want another year playing in Holland? He’s Brazilian, they signed him under the pretext of development then a ladder to a bigger club - it’s time they stop acting like shit houses and let him go for a record fee and huge profit.

Baffles me why people are saying this reflects badly on Antony. It’s the total opposite.

He’s speaking out because they have tried to bullshit him in the meeting today that they don’t have time to replace him (despite him advising them in February he wanted to leave having fulfilled his part of the two year project they agreed on).

Ajax are looking very shady in all of this.

Yeah I doubt this would be happening. These guys want to appear strong, just making themselves look like clowns and will damage the clubs image for talent.

Well he could have thought about his 2 year project when signing a 5 or something years contract?
It secures a line of income in the short to medium term. A 2-3 year deal would be highly risky in a high contact sport where injury affected careers are not uncommon.

Not sure how they can keep him now given this public statement, he obviously has his heart set on United and are they going to keep a player who has no interest playing for them anymore?

Those who think Romano is a fraud in the mud…
Anyone who expects journalists to be 100% correct all the time doesn't really understand how the industry works. The so called "reliable" journos are those who have direct lines to certain clubs and agents and will give out info they are being fed. Obviously these people use the journos to force a certain narrative, doesn't make the journalist less reliable.

Romano is quite clearly someone who has a direct line to most top agents and they use him( and he them) to release info they want.

Why would Ajax want Amad for one or two seasons?

What suggests he's good enough for them? These suggestions are baffling.

Exactly.

They are trying to make out they don’t have enough time to replace him but they have known since February he wanted to go and he’s told them repeatedly since.
They can get Amad as part of the deal?

Amad will get plenty game time and develop it'd suit him well there I think. We get Antony. Ajax get the cash and a nice replacement. Amad gets game time. Everyone happy.

Interesting take. TBH they should have better planned for his departure if this is true. There's no reason Ajax shouldn't take this deal if they knew since February and June. I'm pretty sure transfer fees are going to crash next year.

Hope the club does good by him and puts in another offer for all his troubles honestly. He's done literally everything in his power to manifest the move into existence.

The likes of him and Casemiro willingly giving up better situations and CL footy has been a timely reminder of the magnitude of the club and its remaining pull even with our downturn in recent years

Bet you weren't so forgiving when Pogba wanted to leave us or towards Ronaldo right now (or the first time he left)

Ronaldo right now I couldn’t give a shit about I actively want him to go. Pogba I was slightly annoyed about and Ronaldo back in 09 I was devastated but this isn’t Utd we’re talking about it’s another club so I couldn’t care less. Hypocritical but aren’t we all.

On a side note, this interview with Antony is quite a coup for Romano
Just further confirms that where Romano has his inside scoop is normally with agents of a player rather than inside club links like other bigger name journalists have

I know Ajax don't want to do loan deals, but Amad for two years is surely a better short term replacement than heavily overpaying for Ziyech?

Ah come on, it doesn't bother me but it's a, player under contract trying to force a move. We all laughed at Kane in the same situation.

Ajax are under no obligation to sell. Why are they shady. If they decide they have no time to replace a player under contract that's their perogative.

I love Ajax as a club, and I get not wanting to be held hostage by a player, but I don't think they're painting themselves in much glory. That offer was a ridiculous amount.
