Yes but not quite as consistently quick as a Salah. He's like a Sancho style skills dribbler who can turn on the pace when he wants rather than an absolute speed merchant. Not as bad as Sancho in that respect who has a very playmaker languid style.

Cool thanks. I think what we lack is intensity rather than pure pace. When you're playing against a packed backline you need the ability to react rapidly.

That's problem with Sancho, he's too languid.

If we can pull this signing off then I think we’ve had a great window even though we’ve left it late. We do ideally need another midfielder and a RB but we ain’t getting everyone in one window.

We also need a new/backup GK

Sancho and Rashford have been equally useless but I believe Rashford does a better job pressing statistically, so it could be Sancho that finds himself on the bench. Now maybe Antony coming sees Ronaldo leave and they move Rashford to a central position but he didnt even get that chance in the opening game when ETH tried a false 9.

Rashford misses sitters and he’s been dire for the two seasons and has maintained that form this season.

A huge amount for Antony, yes. But if we do go ahead and shovel Rashford to PSG, though I have no idea if that’s still on, the net spend can’t be all that problematic.

Why would anyone pay more than 25m for rashford and even then…he’s a nothing player these days

And you think that they told Antony to not train based on that hypothetical?
Could be. Would you want to take a gamble on an €80-100m player pulling a hamstring days before signing?

I certainly wouldn't. Ajax might be working on loaning/buying another player, getting that deal done before Antony moves. Or the deal might need to be restructured if the 80 in 8 bit is true. 80 in 4 would be far more acceptable.

Hoping it's Ziyech

Agreed. In EPL, high speed sprint frequency and sprint endurance is really important to be a success as a wide player. If you're playing for a Pep, you might be able to get away with it but only just. Generally speaking, high energy wingers of quality are a must... so players like Vinicius I could see do well in EPL.

Just to be clear, the Ajax fans don’t think Antony wants to play for United?
Just to be clear, you can't see that there is a difference between wanting to play for United and wanting to play for United so bad that they want to make a fuss?

PSG were allegedly looking into Rashford. If they offered 25m I’d take it. Antony then comes in at a net of 50m or so, which is reasonable enough.

Which insinuate that the player is days away from signing? It's not something done if the transfer isn't close.

Come to me with proof that he's making a fuss to leave? You can't because there is absolutely no evidence about it.

It makes perfect sense though with the multiple reports that he hasn't shown up for training/has trained alone. Weird timing given the reportedly rejected bid made yesterday. Also just the simple fact that he plays for a Man Utd feeder club should suggest its likely he'd kick up a fuss to make the move happen.

You would at least equalise with Pool in have a massive cnut up top.
Sure it's nonsense, your family clearly aren't big football fans(or have a big bias) if that's the response about Antony. Ask @KirkDuyt he hates Antony with a passion(due to being a Feyenoord fan) but still acknowledges that he's good
He's definitely talented and already good. Not worth 80 million though, but 50 would be reasonable.

Ajax just dont want to sell him though.

You're forgetting that it's quite common for players that might make a transfer to skip training or a match? Doesn't have to be kicking up a fuss, that's just wishful thinking

Why is that wishful thinking? Either way he is making the move he wants?

So he didn’t avoid training today, and Ajax aren’t currently having a discussion about whether he will play at the weekend?

Not his biggest fan, wasn't a fan of signing Sancho and can see this one panning out a similar way for similar reasons (namely doesn't have quick acceleration for dribbling against tight defences and has largely only played against poor defences).

That said hopefully he proves me wrong.

Like Sancho if it was a lower fee it'd be a lot more palpable.

Because people here posted that they want him to kick up a fuss. So yes people wish that it's happening despite there being no credible source of it actually happening.

Again, how daft are you people. Not training doesn't equal kicking a fuss. It's a quite common practice around transfers, like i've posted a few times before here.

According to this video, he's the best winger in the world. Sign him up!

United have a hell of a lot to learn about the transfer dark arts, that’s for sure. Seems we haven’t tapped him up or put any cat amongst the pigeons within his camp. Noble in heart, but not how big clubs operate.

If we are serious about him, we’ll do what needs to be done, but you can’t help but wonder how much we could’ve shaved off whatever the final price ends up being.
Bayern are the experts at it. I don’t think they’ve ever been seriously linked to a player who they hadn’t spent the past 3 weeks privately whatsapping or having their directors talk up in the media beforehand.

Sign the fecker. Couldn't care less about the money.

£70 million out of the Glazers coffers in fine by me.

Everythings fine

Hopefully Ten Hag knows how to get the very best out of him. Huge price tag and Sancho has proven the PL can be a total killer. Still unsure it'll happen, but I am wary of the deal. BUT excited all the same.

I mean, isn’t this the definition of ‘kicking up a fuss’?
Kicking up a fuss is refusing to train or even show up. Not having to train because a transfer might happen soon isn't. Happens all the time

Weird that he would come when ‘United aren’t able to sign players, unlike Ajax’ :smirk:

Seems like he is kicking up a fuss from all the reports though, doesn't it?

I'm not saying he's not going to Utd? I'm only saying there is no confirmed report of him actually kicking up a fuss. But reading comprehension is quite hard for some people here

£70 million out of the Man Utd coffers after Glazer's take their pound of flesh and the interest payments on their massive loan in fine by me.
Fixed it for you.

No need to be so hostile mate. Let people have their opinion.

The fact he's not trained probably just means he's being protected. Don't want an €80m asset injured right now. Just my opinion by the way.

If the club have refused the bid, why would he not train? The club expect him to train, he has refused to do so. I don’t understand this hill you’re dying on

The Ajax fans were having a good laugh at United earlier in the thread, happily mocking our ineptitude. They don’t seem quite as chipper now for some reason.

I know this won’t happen but we could offer them Sancho on loan as a replacement. He could boost his confidence playing against weaker rivals and recoup some value even if we were to sell him next year. Win-win for all sides as Ajax would sell Antony next year anyway and they get a year of replacement + a lot of money.

Not credible ones though. The absolute Tier 1s for Ajax only reported that he wasn't training today.

Actually, The Irish Mirror is reporting it and they have unparalleled insight into the situation with Antony/Ajax thus far.

I completely agree with your assessment, but i have posted that many times here and people here keep repeating that nonsense about him kicking up a fuss
