Don't remember what he did but he must've been good as we scored 2 since he came on

Barely noticed him do anything. If anything the only time he stood out was when he was being useless defensively

Your hate for Antony

Fair do's. Disappointing game from him to be fair.
I actually defended him a bit lately, but he's been cack. The difference in impact between him and Garnacho this match was huge.

Not that I dont still think he's a cnut, I do :wenger:

Certainly shouldn't play as a no. 9 again, he did not understand that position at all. He's hugely underwhelming at the moment. Maybe worth trying out Garnacho on the right.

The counterattack where he got the ball to Rashford too late was just disappointing.

A better passer gets the ball to either of our forwards with a much cleaner pass.

He was supposed to be good defensively. I am not going to judge him by performance vs City, but Antony looks like he just tracks back more than other wingers. Maybe this is also because he's not that useful on the counter.

Strange one as he showed some lovely skill to get away from being pressed challenged my multiple players, which he did a few times, but there was nobody for him to play the ball on to and he doesn't have the kick and rush pace that Rashford and Garnacho have (that's not an insult, it's a great attribute to have).

He pressed well and defended well, I think he'll be a real asset when we're able to play more on the front foot and he's got someone to get the ball to after holding onto it.

Didn’t really notice him, good or bad. Maybe that is an issue in itself. He’s fortunate we don’t have the same competition wide right as we do wide left.

He needs a bit more composure and maturity in his play and general decision making. Time will tell but given he is an ETH signing I feel confident he will perform eventually

Indeed. Hopefully this was the last time he played up front with Wout joining. He was not useful in that position, but can hardly be blamed for that.

He isn't doing bad tbh, it just looks much worse because of Garnacho.

Really? He seems to be quite composed, if anything he needs to do things quicker.

Season is great, ETH is great, optimism is high and everything is great but feck me, he is waste of money. 100 bloody million.

I don't want to get at Antony because he actually did some good stuff today. However, when you compare it to what Garnacho gave on the other side...

Antony needs to do more. If he doesn't then he risks getting bumped down the pecking order like Sancho.

He’s a bit of nothing player, neat and tidy but lacking that x factor, which United winger should poses.

I agree, ETH should really be pushing him to get out of his comfort zone to try and have a go at the fullbacks much more.

Antony is weird on counter attacks, he either slows it down too much or picks out the wrong pass / gives it away.

He defo does track back a lot which helps us out especially towards the end of the game

He will learn our game a bit more not to mention he had two to three players every time he got the ball. When we play in transition he needs to release it earlier.

Our play is a lot more balanced when he plays though and he takes care of the ball well, its obvious we paid about £30 million too much for him given where he currently
is but I think we new that we were just desperate.

I am not sure anymore that he has that in himself.
That play vs Ake. He was in front of Ake but then decided to hold the ball. Garnavho would just run straight to goal.

If he works on his passing as I'm sure he is then he's going to be a nightmare to defend against. Very difficult to dispossess except for when he gives it away with an overhit pass which he has done too often this season. Yong and lernin'.

He's a 30m player at most. Just not seeing it with him. Tidy but no cutting edge.

He's just indecisive right now.

There was a moment where he was away from Silva but he's slowing down, looking over his shoulder, just wanting to stop and come inside.

When he gets away from a man he just needs to go for it.

He gets a huge amount of playing time relative to Pellistri, yet I'm not sure he's actually a better player. He's certainly different, in that he scores goals from time to time but in terms of creating chances for team-mates, he's been a disaster; even simple passes go wrong when he has an opportunity to create a chance. Today wasn't the worst example of this by any means but it's another to add to the list.

Think people are expecting a different player here probably due to the youtube videos or actually seeing him from Ajax days. I haven't seen him but my thoughts on him is that he is hardworking and always available to receive a pass . He can't be easily disposed (key trait for a team like us ) and can easily hold off couple of defenders. He isn't that explosive in the final third but that may be due to lack of confidence. He isn't your Messi type where he will dribble past couple of players and score. He has a good cross and a good shot.

100m is way too expensive for sure but then we didn't had a choice.
I will put this again here. He isn't your Mahrez. He needs someone to play off. His best games has come with Martial as Forward. Watch him doing better with Wout !

I am very disappointed in him today, he had an excellent opportunity to tee up Rashford or Garnacho on the counter and he fumbled it !!!

Did his pressing job as usual and tracked back, but he was nothing on the ball.

He lacks pace which is biggest downfall.

doesn’t seem worth it yet.
He'll never be worth it, but that's not his fault.

Too limited for me and his passes are almost always off either by direction or weight, so un-Brazilian and I do still have question marks around his football IQ.

Maybe it's oversimplified, but when he runs fast on the right he seems unable to pass inside. That is because he's one footed but also because he doesn't seem very good with outside of his foot. So far I don't see any use for Antony on counter attacking game.

I thought when I watched the clips of him he'd be a poor signing and I stand by that. He's got great skill and clearly has ability but he's just not a Manchester Utd winger for my liking. Not direct, not ruthless enough. Doesn't make up for those weaknesses in other areas except perhaps his long range shooting. I'm not impressed really, think we have wasted a good chunk of money on him.

Completely get what you're saying. He can't even outside the boot it, it seems

I rate Antony but I don't think he'll ever be a 100M player, now or in 5 years when in his peak. Just believe he doesn't have that potential but if he can prove to be worthy player and not a waste of money, won't care about the fee anymore.

Absolutely mental take and find it very hard to believe United fans labelled Martinez a "midget flop" after one game.

Well look at the forum of his performances for a few pages after his debut then, I remember thinking he was ok and reading it

Rashford played 328 appearances delivering 171 G + A
Martial made 281 appearances delivering 136 G + A

their contribution is pretty decent and longer than 6/8 months

Goalds and assists to beef up the stats *rolls eyes*
