It's obviously a yellow card. However, that chest bump against Dunk was hilarious.
It's a clear red, man. He kicks a player purposefully with no intention of getting the ball as an act of revenge.
The amount of bias is unreal. He's lucky he doesn't hit him cleaner because he's never learned how to kick with his right leg but that takes nothing away from the intention. Look up the definition of violent conduct, it's a clear red by the book of the law.
"Attempts to use". No, he doesn't hit him with great force due to his right leg not working. But he tries to.Here it is, from the FA website:
VIOLENT CONDUCT
Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.
In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.
Hardly excessive force or brutality. And even ignoring that, those types of fouls are almost always punished with yellow cards.

Not to mention his antics against Dunk and the linesman could have easily gotten him another yellow.
You’ve deliberately ignored the bit where it says attempts to use excessive force. Did Antony need to go and kick him like he did? Could easily have seen a straight red with no complaints. Here it is, from the FA website:

Because that's all in your head.Martinez kicks him like that and everyone is in the match thread saying how brilliant he is and it's great to have a South American warrior in the team.
Antony does is and it's a straight red card and he's got nothing between his ears.
Can't imagine why.
This is an interesting approach. Personally I am fairly confident he won't be a success here. At the same time, I think he's doing OK but that is because I have very low expectations of Antony. I basically see him as a midfielder who sometimes goes a bit more forward. So you predict his time in the prem will be a failure (relatively)? Or are you just criticising his current level?
I don't mean to focus this on you specifically, but it's frustrating to see new players judged so harshly after less than a season. Then if/when they turn it around, the person justifies it by saying "I was right, they were shit at the time but they got better, my criticism was just being constructive..." when in reality they were just impatient and a bad judge of potential. Not saying this will happen one way or another, but given your criticism, I think you should state how confident you are that Antony won't succeed here.
You're the one telling people they're biased for telling you it's not a red card pal.Because that's all in your head.
After you called me fecking mental for saying it was a red. Don't really think you have the high ground here. You're the one telling people they're biased for telling you it's not a red card pal.
I'm not going for any form of moral high ground, if you genuinely believe that was a red you are fecking mental. It's a strong yellow card all day. After you called me fecking mental for saying it was a red. Don't really think you have the high ground here.
A few goals and a single assist isn't decent in the slightestI thinks he's had a decent first season and has gotten much more adventurous as it's worn on, I'm very much looking forward to watching him next season.
He's not particularly fast,
The league numbers appear far worse when you consider that he had 3 goals in his first 3 games, the other goal and assist came in the same game.Premier League - 1540 Mins - 4 Goals and 1 Assist = 308 Per goal cont
League Cup - 310 mins - 1 Goal and 0 Assists= 310 Per goal cont
Europa League - 639 Mins - 2 Goals and 0 Assists = 320 Per goal cont
FA Cup - 354 Mins - 1 Goal and 1 Assist = 177 Per goal cont
Total = 2,843 Mins - 8 Goals and 2 Assists = 284 Per goal cont which means a goal contribution just under every 5 games, now I know he has to balance out Rashford and be more of a defensive outlet but those aren't good stats even for a first season, really needs to pick up the productivity big time but Ten Hag seems to trust him and I trust Ten Hag so here's hoping!
He's incredibly hard-working, never gives up, is a great ball carrier, press resistant, and gets into plenty of good positions despite not getting much support from his full back or a proper striker. I definitely see a player there. I don't think he'll be world class, but if he can improve his finishing and decision making and we get a striker and a good right back to support him I think he can be a very, very good player for us.
He's 23 in his first season in the Premier League. At 23 Salah had just signed for Roma after a loan spell at Fiorentina, while Mahrez had his first (somewhat underwhelming, 4 goals and 3 assists) season in the Premier League at Leicester. There are plenty of examples of players who only start to come into their own in their mid-20's.
Right before he kicked out, I said to the wife, watch him lose his head now.
she replied with “i don’t really care”
But I was right.
I like him and I think he's got a lot of good qualities but just two assists is very disappointing from a winger who also isn't a prolific goalscorer. He still might reach double figures in goals for us this season but his chance creation has to get better.
This. It wasn't late or hard enough to warrant a red. 'A strong yellow' is probably the best way of putting it. It was bad enough that it would be kept in mind and a second yellow might come a bit quicker than normal, but not enough to be a red itself.I'm not going for any form of moral high ground, if you genuinely believe that was a red you are fecking mental. Username quite fits the context.I'm usually one for giving players time and I'm often more optimistic about players than the caf generally.
Not on this one though. We've bought shitty Quaresma for 100m.
When we all know Casemiro got sent off for feck all, it's being purposely blind or stupid to say Antony had no chance of getting sent off. The mere fact that he could give the ref a decision to make is as risky as it is pointless. Here it is, from the FA website:

We need to stop thinking about what we think could be a red card and focus more on what the ref can deem to be one and we've seen too many instances of them being incoherent and inconsistent.This. Petulant kicks like Antony's one should be red cards. I am sure ETH knows this and will be telling Antony accordingly. We need to stop thinking about what we think could be a red card and focus more on what the ref can deem to be one and we've seen too many instances of them being incoherent and inconsistent.
What Antony did was beyond idiotic, you never give a PL ref a chance to book you when there's absolutely no necessity.

Anyone who thinks this is a red card is either an idiot or has PTSD from the Casemiro reds

What the feck was there to gain from kicking a player completely unrelated to what happened to him ?
I've seen reds given to them, kicking a player while the ball is away out of pure frustration, I can guarantee if they did that to us, we'd all want that player sent off. That had no business on a football pitchI’ll agree that it’s unnecessary to give the ref a decision to make, and I’d prefer he didn’t, even if I appreciate his passion. But I maintain that players usually end up yellows in these types of situasjons, not reds.
Who are the left footed RWs comfortably better than Antony?
Dembele
Mahrez
Bernardo Silva
Phil Foden
Saka
Salah
Gnarby (is he played there?)
