Antony was much better tonight. Really tried to run his man and showed a lot of quality. That's what I expected from him when he signed.

The data shows it: So far this season his number of attempted dribbles is down on what it was for Ajax last season. With his talent there's no reason for that to be the case.

He's got the Old Trafford stage. Now its time for him to strut his stuff. Pity he slipped as he was about to shoot in the six yard box, cos he probably deserved a goal.

Certainly our most dangerous attacker tonight, unlocked the game and himself and Wan B starting to show proper signs of connection. All good.

Well played today, clearly he is working hard and is very talented. Has that magic in him to change a game at any moment so hopefully keeps developing

Felt like he had a point to prove tonight. He took his man on a few times, shot with his right foot and got an assist :)

Good lad! I really like him.

He's getting better performance wise. But imo he must work a bit on his strength and power. He's such a baller a bit of explosiveness and shooting power would do wonders here.

Outside of his erratic finishing that was comfortably his best performance for sometime.
Taking, or at least showing the willingness, on his fullback and making decisive creative passing is what we've been wanting.

Doing similar things he was doing in Ajax, just with bit different frequency. Few more calibrations and his skillset could be greatly needed on clash with Barca.

Some good, some bad. He at last showed some creativity so I’ll look at the positive. That’s what he needs to be doing more.

The assist was nice and the effort is there, but dear me, his shooting is off target 8 times out of 10, frustrating. He quite clearly got a sweet left foot.
The potential to grow into a superstar for us is there.

I listened to the game on radio and it seemed he was heavily involved but his shooting was woeful.
There was shock and laughter when he was awarded MOTM and they thought that Casemiro just doesn't like doing interviews after the game.

People who don’t see his ability would be as well as watching a different sport.

Second game in a row where positives outweigh the negatives a lot. Tonight he was better than against Nottingham so I hope he keeps on improving.

There is no question that we need what he actual can do, we just need him to do a lot more. The items I feel are missing on the menu are

- the vision to see players making runs when he's running with the ball in midfield (which even our centre backs can do) and finding them with lobbed balls
- competency using his right foot
- being more direct once he's got a defender turned, rather than trying more tricks and slowing our tempo

He's the most useful player we've got in terms of positional discipline on the right, he's a great outlet and protects the ball really well, and he does carry some goal threat.

Today was a great example of how good for us be could be when we're playing the way EtH wants us to get to - dominating possession and on the front foot rather than relying on transition and counters.

Looking better but ne needs to start putting a bit of venom on these shots.

If you keep going for these floaty finishes they will keep going over the bar.

His lack of pace is the only issue I have with him, he'd be a beast if he was just a bit quicker.

He got himself involved.Showed he wanted the ball. (Which shows he's not loosing his confidence). Some nice touches. Beautiful pass to Casemiro. Should have scored though.

Theres a good player in there, hopefully he can adjust to English football

Pretty much. In time, just like Ajax supporters we will probably notice he offers different style to remaining side attackers (In this case: Sancho, Rashford and Garnacho) which will make the team more undpredictable and in result, harder to find out.

His tempo of holding the ball and releasing it will definitely be needed vs particular opponents. Even teams defending with 10 men already are aware he can send a curler into the net and that will drag them out from their defending zones and gaps will be exploited.

ETH getting him in his first season here gives more time to calibrate things you pinpointed.

That assist was top class.
That's the exact same ball he played when he did his spin thing that time everyone slated him. He was buying time until the runner was in the right position. He'll seem much more effective when everyone is on the same wavelength.

Been very good the last couple of games. Been playing against weaker teams so he has had plenty of the ball but also not been as tied to wide areas which has allowed a lot more variation to come into his game.

Wouldn't be against starting him as a 10 with Sancho/Garnacho and Rash either side when that is an option.

Worst idea in the world. His is 99% left footed and wants to cut in almost every time.

He's developing on the right here, leave it there.

He's much better and more dangerous when he gets involved in the combination play around the edge of the box, than when he is out wide. He has that good burst of pace and close control to play the one-two's, and the vision to slip people in, but out wide he never really beats a man.

Great assist, more of that.
Giving away free goals, less of that.

Bit worried he's going down the route of ridiculous shot attempts alike some of our previous players that's nowhere near target.

MotM is a bit silly, but I'd say he was among the positive ones tonight.

I'd have to point out it was Reading though, but maybe one positive outing can fuel another.

He doesn’t have enough pace to beat his man but with sufficient runners (as we had tonight) he can pick a really good pass.
Stil not sure he is what we need on the right but he did well today, wasteful shooting aside

Interesting what ETH says about needing to challenge him and having that history managing him as a player.

I think he was much improved today, still did some of the annoying bad stuff but I think he showed plenty of promise in this game. Much more than he has done in anything previously. Do kind of wish he wouldn’t just spam that come inside and try and bend it to the back post all the time.

We’re now starting to see his passing ability come to the fore now. Some of his passes in field across the back line (must be a term for this) were excellent.

Funny the lectures he’s getting on here when it’s just a poor patch he’s going through.. not like he doesn’t know how to finish.

Glad that I read this thread. I only watched the highlights and to me it looked like a patchy game from him after trying out a few shots from distance and then missing that chance towards the end when he received the ball in the box with only the gk in front of him and couldn't control it.

Yeah it's like when Rooney scored 1 curler and then for ages kept trying to do that finish instead of just putting his foot through it. Stop the floaty finesse shots, usually easy to save.

Excellent until he started playing at #10. Which he’s a bit shit at. With each game it gets more and more obvious what ETH sees in him.
Couldn't tell if he was just shit as a 10 or if he stopped taking the game seriously and became complacent tbh. Could be either. Don't see why he'd be that shit as a 10 as he was, he just became sloppy as hell though.

Thought he's played with a lot more attacking intent last couple of games, clearly the message has been to be more progressive. He looks a lot older to me and I have to remind myself that he's 22 and not 28. Positive signs, at a time where we need everyone to be firing.
