He was a beast today. I love it when he has the "Feck you" attitude where he just bulldozes his way through everything.

By far our best overall player tonight, hopefully he'll kick on now, it's probably the first really good performance we've had from one of our wingers this season, even though he played right back for most of it.

Played really well tonight...If he playes near his best he will be a real plus for us in the weeks to come.

Thought he was great and showed a willingness to run at people we've not really seen this season, hope he keeps it up, showed he can still be very useful at right back as well.

Was good defensivly too, couple of good clearances.

He's obviously been told that this Stevens fellow is lightening quick and a ferocious tackler so best not to bother running at him.

so, who do you reckon is making their 2nd professional start today, Stevens or Valencia??

he has turned into Nani of last season. too slow when in control of the ball in a good position, poor final ball. he really should be testing Stevens more down that flank.

Frustrates the shit out of me, 2 fecking Manchester United wingers that can't beat a man if they are at a standing start, one who doesn't even then have the fecking balls to cut back on his left and put a ball into the box.

He is taking an age to do absolutely everything. What's the point of creating a bit of space for yourself if you're going to stop and let their defence get in position?

Can't cross the ball today.

But it happens sometimes. What's annoying is that we're always passing the ball to the wing. Even if it's not working. I hate it.

Considering the shit Nani gets. Been woeful today, and for the past month or two. Where the feck have his balls went? Doesn't look like he wants to run at a lad who's making his second start for Villa.

It's not that he can't cross, he looks hesitant to charge at a man like he usually does.

I wouldnt give Valencia any grief.

He's just out of form. When he's in form he's one of the most consistent wingers in the league. Much less frustrating than Young or Nani.

It's not even like he tried to run at him a few times and couldn't get past. I don't think he's attempted to run at his man even once today.

Been off-form all season except for 30 mins the the night.

Not good enough.

Too isolated on the flank, players pass him and rush into the box, expecting him too beat the fullback and his support and then deliver an inch-perfect cross in an already crammed box. Fullbacks should provide more overlaps.

Wasted almost 10 crosses, and every other time he's passed backwards. Pathetic really. If we plan on using him to create our chances then it's the worst idea ever today.

It's true, at one point it got embarrassing where the left back just kept showing him onto his left and managed to force him all the way from the Villa box to the half-way line. fecking insane and all because he has zero confidence in putting a ball into the box with his left, and because the full-back knows that full well.

Comparisons to Kanchelskis way off the mark.

Rafael has overlapped at every opportunity.

When teams pack the box and defend with 10 men, Valencia sometimes just becomes very one dimensional and predictable.

Some really poor crosses from him and he doesn't seem to want to take on a fullback who nobody has even heard of.

Unbelievably shit so far. Our wingplay us fecking wank. Still Scholes plays about every fecking ball out wide to him

Isn't this how we always play when Scholes and Carrick are a pair? He's wasted everything but lets blame the fullback.

ya, the time where he was up by the corner flag, and ended up returning with the ball to the halfway line.

Yep, that's the one I meant which got embarrassing. He had a couple of opportunities to put a cross in with his left but has zero faith in his standing leg. Even fecking Giggsy and Beckham would stick balls in with their standing legs if that's what the full backs show them.

Yeh, let's just blame the wingers, even though they're clearly outnumbered and helpless on the flank just keep on feeding them hoping they will sort it out themselves eventually. You are quick to jump to critisism whilst not thinking over the tactical aspect of things.

Like Rafael was doing the entire first half?

The wingers have been shit even in one-on-one situations.

Valencia has been woeful and continually looks to drill his cross in, no finesse. For a professional footballer to be that one footed isn't very impressive.

fecking hell you are talking shit

Well you do it with Nani at every opportunity so why shouldn't we?

Got better the second half but his crosses were very poor all game and he hardly attempted to beat his man.

There was one run after we took the lead which showed what he's capable of. Disappointing he didn't play more like that.
