Antonio Valencia... | Will wear #25 shirt from this point onwards by request

Thought Young was better in the 1st half personally. That said, the entire team went to shit for majority of the 2nd half so that played a big part.

Another shocking performance.

Mid table player. Still cannot believe people think he's better than Nani.

Can't believe that myself too. It's not like he destroyed basically every left-back he faced last season or something. Comparing him to Nani, who epitomises form stability and constant quality is laughable imo.

I hate to say it, but he looked like a mid-table player once again yesterday. Hopefully Nani will come back in some sort of form and gives Valencia the rest he might need to recover from whatever is effecting him.

Every left-back? hmmm, come on. He did very well from December onwards, an excellent 5 months. Up until then Nani had been our main winger and they both finished the season with similar stats.

Had our nose put out of joint with Valencia's shit form this season have we :p

Nani just has so much more in his locker. Valencia provides great balance and width but it's pretty obvious who the better player is.

Nani is better offensively for he can play all across the front formation to a reasonable extent and, as you said, has more in his locker. Two feet, can finish and cut in.

Valencia is twice the player defensively and can make the whole right wing his bitch even if playing at right-back, something many on here forgot or will to forget due to his shite form this season. When on song, he is one of the most consistent players I've seen and he didn't know what misplacing pass means till this season.

It's about whom you prefer, I just want them both on the pitch and in-form, something which hasn't happened very often since we bought Valencia.

EDIT And I'm wondering if you still have anything to put out of joint if we're going this route everytime Nani has had shite streak - this is Valencia's first since he's been here.

@Tomus - Tony V has had out of form streaks, just not long as this one. Not sure what it is but, hope he snaps out of it soon. When both him and Nani are on form - I pity any opposition.

The one thing though I've found is when both are playing and one of starts the game better, we completely stick to that side, we hardly try to work both sides. Often that's ended up in the form player getting doubled upon and then we keep forcing it to him instead of going the other way.

Main worry is he can't seem to cross a ball to save his life at the moment.

I didn't bring that other winger into this Tomus ;-)

And if you think this is Valencia's first bad patch you're quite obviously very mistaken!

No, I'm not. He was somewhat subdued at the beginning of the 10/11 season but that was what, 3 games?

I'll stick my neck and say he was our most consistent player since he came here to the end of last season.

I agree. Valencia was very consistent, probably only Vidic and VDS could have been compared with him in that aspect since he came here. He could have been pretty average at some games (like against Barca) but in overall he gave good to great performances in almost every game.

Ha ha, so a maximum of just 3 games off form until this season.

Bloody nonsense.

It's obvious that he is saying 3 consecutive games off form.

Very interesting observation.

Bloody nonsense.

Does 1 subdued , or off game if you like, mean bad patch these days?

Till this season there were very few games in which he was subdued, not as bad as he's been at times this season.

He never played poorly for 2 or 3 months in a row. Nor was he wanted out by some after constantly frustrating the hell out of the crowd. (cough cough:smirk:)

Till this season.

As for the Nani/Valencia debate, I believe it's Nani lovers that spur it. The frustration started when Valencia was being preferred on the right and in the big games. As I've said many times, I'd fecking love it if Nani could come back and hit the ground running and I was bloody hopeful we wouldn't sell him although I knew we wouldn't.

The majority of posts coming from the opposite camp is often disrespectful. Don't know why, but some just can't enjoy having them both without downplaying Valencia's presence.

The only reason I used Nani in my earlier posts was to show how much of hypocrits some are, especially you, I'm always right. There's huge difference between that and comparing them only to show how much better Nani is etc.

Posts like this remind me you can take anything you want from one's quote, mainly by ignoring what's stated earlier.

It's just bizarre that you start smirking and making cheeky remarks regarding Nani in the same post where you blame "Nani lovers" for spurring the Nani/Valencia debate.

This should be interesting. In what way am I a "hypocrite".

FWIW, this was my post after the Liverpool game regarding Valencia:

Poster A: What did he do wrong today FFS.

Me: This, he did just fine today. Not great, not poor.

No. A bad patch is at least a month.

Valencia has had a good few months, even before this season.

I suggest you check the posts from pages 31-40+ to acknowledge what was the general consensus on him after 2010/2011 season. I won't blame you for not catching that as I can see you weren't the most prolific poster of the thread at that time, surprisingly enough. Then came the next season in which he was even better.

You'll then realize you're being plain ignorant. Or that football fans are fickle which is sort of my point.

I've been sincerely done with the Nani vs Valencia bollocks for some time, really. I just can't ignore the fact that most of his current critics and the most verbal at that happen to be Nani lovers. It would be like Shawcross fanbois (if he had those) lambasting Nemanja Vidic for his thuggery.

This is pointless anyway.

Quality player carried us last season for a spell. Just needs to regain confidence. When he gets back to top form a few folk are going to look stupid on this forum.

Please reply to my post above, cheers. As I said, it'll be interesting to know why I'm a hypocrite and why you aren't.

I know it's a forum but you do like to get in an argument about anything let it go for feck sake.

Granted I would have expected you to come up with something much more pejorative but how does it prove you aren't hypocrite?

As for my answer to 'why am I a hypocrite', check my last post (which you actually quoted already).

Yes it is Lawman.

I honestly just want to know why I'm a hypocrite. You'll see a few times in the last few weeks I've stuck up for Tony V, as I did after the Liverpool game. So anyway, I just don't know what I'm a hypocrite about? because Valencia is off form, yes he is, he's having a poor season. Am I somehow saying that Nani never has poor form? am I hell, of course he does.

Tomus has a bee in his bonnet about me and it'd be nice to know exactly what that is. Don't just call someone a hypocrite if you can't back it up.

Well pm him and sort it out.

You have some wrong ideas about me Tomus.

My guess now is that you're calling me a hypocrite because I'm saying that Tony V is off form and having a poor season? is he not? You obviously then think that I don't say Nani is off-form?

hmm... you couldn't be more wrong if that's the case. Check the Nani thread at the end of October where I mention that both he and Valencia have been crap.

Far from that. You only get on my tits when you're playing the smartest guy and bollock other opinions but you've been reasonable in our little conversation today and it's nothing personal. Ah, and I have backed it up. Obviously you'll dismiss it and you're perfectly entitled to. That will take us back to the starting point again. That's why it's pointless.

Agree to disagree is the phrase being looked up for I believe?

We'll agree that I'm not a hypocrite then, as I understand all our players go through poor spells.

As for the rest of you post that I deleted, no arguments there, I have a shitty style of posting on occasions, guilty as charged.
