It is hard to understand why anyone would say he's shit. If your brain is not damaged and you got average memory ability, you would remember that he is a very good footballer when on form. Critisize him for his current poor form, but he's obviously not a shit footballer.

Same goes for other players like Nani or Welbeck

The main thing I love with Val is his defensive commitment, is he the best tackler? No, in fact I would guess only Scholes would be below him (As that kid cannot tackle for toffees) but its all about effort for Tony V, he never stops, why some games even when he plays badly, I would rather an out of form tonio to out of form Young due to his hard work and commitment.

 3 different nicknames in one post. Never seen that before.

But I agree.

All players go through bad periods. That's a given. They'll try things, and it just wont come off. Yes, its frustrating, but as long as they're trying, its acceptable. And understandable. Eventually it'll come off, and you'll play your way back into form.

What isn't acceptable, imo, is just completely going into your shell, when things aren't going well. And right now, that's what Valencia has done.

I like the lad, I think on form he a quality winger. But right now, he's not even attempting to do anything a winger should. He's literally doing nothing.

Right now he should be concerned for his place. Nani is back and I'm sure will have a point to prove, Young is playing better, Welbeck impressed on Sunday and there is always Kagawa to consider.

This is a game Valencia should be eating up, instead he is little more than a passenger. Rafael is basically doing everything on the right of the pitch.

He doesn't look up when he crosses. Just puts his foot through it and hopes for the best. What's happened to him

Hopefully he'll play himself back into the kind of form where he was eating defenses week in week out. If we want to win against Real we'll need players like him to be at their best, because he'd give us a real threat.

I'm convinced it's an injury, everything about his game seems to have changed.

Well if he's altering his technique in order to reduce the strain it could do. There was a site that mentioned he had one leg shorter than the other(not sure if there's any truth to that), which could partly explain his one footedness and perhaps it gives him some problems.

It seemed last year like he'd just brush a fullback aside if he was stood up. This picture is a great indication of how things have changed, made by someone on Twitter at the height of his form last year;

Some bizarre excuses coming out in here. Besides he's been fine again today for me, a few crosses haven't come off but only one bad one from what I remember.

He's been fine today. Certainly in the second half

That one cross he made was truly awful. Havent seen such a poor cross for quite some time

Apart from that he was average, which is an improvement.

He was much much better in the second half. He at least tried three crosses, and managed to beat his man.

His form does seriously worry me though.

I thought he was more than decent. fecked up all but one cross.

Sam is having a bit of a mare imo.

I guess it was an improvement over the what we've been used to, but he was still distinctly average. Barely tried to beat his man and took the safe option far too often. That's two games in which he's been kept quiet by an eighteen year old full back.

Thought he and Nani were both pretty good in their approach play and poor with their end product. Getting there.

The only one having a mare is Antonio Valencia, this season.

Yes, he is. What did he do wrong today though? One terrible cross and didn't make a run when Rooney could have played him in in the first half - that's about it.

Well, in the first half he attempted absolutely nothing. Which is just piss poor.

In the second half, as I've already stated, he did at least try a few things. And did beat a man.

A mare performance by him. Again.

He should be dropped for some time, or at-least he should not start. Even an off form Chicharito could do a better job in wings than what he is doing.

With Nani back and Giggs in wonderful form on the other wing and with Young as a decent backup, I would be fairly happy if Valencia didn't start another game for us this season. Even the crowd has started to groan now when he gets the ball and brings our attack down to a standstill.

He was a bit better today, at least he actually ran at his defender a few times. Crossing wasn't great but an overall improvement on his recent performances.

Though him taking on his man a couple of times was a bit off an encouragement but he's still the way too slow. Totally ruins our attacks with his indecisiveness.

I'm Always Right - if you were as kind as to clear some PM space I would send one. I'm done with all this bullshit after yesterday.

Giggs ran 70 yards then passed to Valencia, who thought he would go backwards after it. Giggs didn't look pleased.

Rafael is a better winger and can cross the ball.

Why don't we swap...play Rafael on the right wing and Valencia at RB?

We have Nani back and Giggs in wonderful form so we don't need to play Valencia at all right now.
