Thought this deserved it's own thread.

ANTONIO VALENCIA is facing five months out following foot surgery.

Manchester United’s Ecuadorian ace was told the extent of the damage after the op.

Valencia, 30, damaged a bone above his left foot during last month’s 0-0 derby draw with rivals City.

The winger did not realise how serious the problem was and may have made it worse by playing on through the pain.

Real shame, he was doing well and our fullback options are getting thinner.

It's a huge shame, he was in form and playing with confidence. Hopefully Darmian rediscovers his form soon.

I'd say this calls for a new full back in January. A loan, perhaps.

Young isn't a serious alternative at right back.

A bone above his left foot? What bone is that? It's the same leg that he broke his ankle and damaged his joints and ligaments.

This means more of Jones and Young at RB. At least Jones is a defender.

Feck. Is Varela still with us/any use?

Holy fecking shit. This comes as a massive shock.

He has a left foot?

Varela is a vastly inferior version of Rafael. Nowhere near good enough, imo.

At least Valencia will be back in time to play in the CL final.

We are going to miss him. Was a really good option to have at right back. Different to Darmian. Guess Young wil be playing RB a lot more, unless we promote somone from the youth set up or get someone in Jan.

Jesus, that's bad. Hope he's back quicker. We need cover.

Do either Tuanzebe or Borthwick - Jackson play RB at all? I know it's not the preferred position for either.

Not sure when McNair will be back; as far as I know he's been allowed to go home to his family in NI to recuperate

Telling you we couldn't go wrong with Cresswell or Bertrand in January. Get well soon Antonio.

That wouldn't solve anything? Rojo and Blind play at left back, as can Darmian.

At right back we've got Darmian and, err... Darmian.

Not registered so can't play unless we register him in Jan anyway.

The next option in line is...eh...El-Fitouri.

Darmian, Young and McNair can see us through for this season.

But it's probably the beginning of the end for Valencia if true and we should start looking for an actual RB to compete with Darmian.

Register Varela in January, survive until then.

EDIT: Wait, it's his left foot? Why is this an issue? Keep playing him.

I've been highly critical of him at times, but he's always been a good soldier. I wish him good health.

Squad starting to look a little stretched

Thankfully we've good cover in Darmian/Young

It makes a lot of sense to bring back Adnan if Young is playing regularly enough at right back

Shame, he'd actually been not too bad at right-back for us recently. Likable as well, so hopefully he makes a quick recovery.

Bad news for us and Tony.

Hopefully we've not seen the last of him in a United shirt, the lad's a grafter

It was blatantly obvious he had a genuine injury in the game and it's just pure negligence that we let him play on. I don't think it's the cause of the long-term nature of the injury but it's seriously stupid all the same.

So we sold our rash, injury prone Brazilian RB only for our Italian replacement to turn out equally as rash (waits for someone to point out that they are tactical fouls) and our backup to get injured, sterling work.

It's bad news, but I'd rather we have our youth players be backups to Darmian and Young. (Instead of loading or buying a new RB, I mean.)

Damn - another long term injury, before we approach the busy Christmas period. The thin squad is starting to look even thinner.

Pretty sure I know the point when the injury occurred. He cut inside with the ball just outside of city's penalty area then looked down at his foot as if he had caught it in the ground.

He carried on playing for a while and looked quite normal. Only he would have known something was up.

This is really bad considering Darmian's recent drop in form.
