Real Madrid aren't a club who need money. They won't sell Ronaldo even if he wanted to leave.
But I want him...
Oh, in that case!

Would be extremely weird going into a season without a number 7 or a number 9.
Or 10.
Isnt as simple as that. They need to get him to sign a contract.
He has two years left, and through shirt sales and results he is worth more in that time than anything United could bid for him.
You get out of here with those poisonous remarks! Not really. They have to think long term am afraid. If he makes it clear that he wont sign a contract, they'd surely have to consider selling him for a huge price. Part of that fee would then be added to the bale deal to secure his signature. You cant allow a player worth 70mil odd to run his contract down, not even Real Madrid.
I dont think he's going to come back here though. My point is besides that.
Weird choice given that he asked for it. I also expected Danny to take the #9 this season.
Without defaulting to Raul, name them then. Name another club where the No.7 is as heralded as at United.
As The Neviller said, Fergie himself talked up the No.7 shirt when he gave it to Ronaldo and has done so since so the No.7 shirt is a special shirt for United.
Liverpool? Callaghan, Keegan, Dalglish...
Goal scorers usually wear the #9

Means feck all this.
Kinda feel for Valencia though, his confidence must be shot to not feel worthy of a specific squad number. Valencia strikes me as a very serious man who'd take things to heart.
So it does mean something then?
Means feck all, then says it means that his confidence must be shot as he doesn't feel worthy.
We knew his confidence was rock bottom, so we've learned nothing new.
Just fecking with ya.
This is serious business, Summit. Sake...
Best, Robson, Beckham, Cantona, Ronaldo.....
Are we on a merry-go-round, because it feels like we are going around in circles here?
So, what you are saying is that in the 70-odd years that players have worn numbers on their shirts, we have had five great players in the number 7 shirt. What about the dozens of players who could have been rated anywhere between poor to good that wore it? What about all the other clubs with great players who just happened to wear the same number on their shirt? For every Ronaldo, there's been a Clayton Blackmore, a Ralph Milne or a Michael Owen. This 'cult of the seven' thing is modern nonsense.
Add Coppell and Morgan to that list and that's one hell of a collection of brilliant players.Best, Robson, Beckham, Cantona, Ronaldo.....
If this genuinely is nothing to do with muppety transfer conspiracies, I'd find it incredibly worrying that a Manchester United player considers himself not mentally up to the pressure of wearing a certain number.

If Ronaldo returns then we'll finally have someone who actually deserve that special number. Valencia is a good player but he's nowhere near his two predecessors
Ronaldo and...Owen?
