Antonio Rüdiger

Levi Colwill might find a timely opening in preseason now. Blessing in disguise and all that.
We’re going to be a bit short of CBs next season: Colwill, Chalobah, Thiago and (maybe) James. Hopefully Sarr leaves. We’re going to have to buy a couple more.

We have to sign a CB regardless, but Colwill is already better than fecking Sarr and look at how much he's played this season. Could sign Kounde and promote Colwill. I'd be ecstatic with that.

Silva
Kounde
Chalobah
Colwill
Azpi
James

Isn’t Matt Law’s tweet incorrect? As far as I understand it, Chelsea can’t negotiate with any of the squad, so this report would appear to be fallacious.

Will Dave be staying? I know we activated his renewal clause, but reports say that the club won’t stand in his way if he wants to leave, which it appears he does, as he wants to finish his career back in Spain.

Not sure. I'm assuming he'll stay but if he leaves that's another gap that needs filling.

The tweet says the offer was made before sanctions.

To end up in a defensive crisis after losing Rudiger, Christensen, Tomori, Guehi in 12 months for less than it will cost to replace just 1 of them is one of the most spectacularly bad pieces of squad management I've seen.

Kounde alone would cost more than the amount those 4 combined left for

Dave? That's Azpilicueta isn't it? I thought he was going to go to Barca on a free?

Thiago Silva likely to leave at the end of next season as well?

Real madrid about to get rudiger and mbappe as free agents, them two alone is great summer window for any club.

See what happens when big clubs don't allow standards to drop, they get rich pickings of the best free agents.

You lot signed Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho and got worse.

They may be free agents but they are anything but free. Especially Mbappe.

Good luck to him. He’s been a good player for us, so we shouldn’t bear him any ill-will for his decision.

Yep, big blow for sure.

Not sure why he couldn't have waited a month to see what the new owners could've offered, I kinda suspect he fancied a move regardless of money.

Glad he finally got to score a screamer from a mile out, will miss his attempts.

You guys can get Maguire from us.

As fan of a club sooo expert in free agents :wenger: , I would say that the signing fee to the player + the fee to his agents, family and representatives + the inflated salary + the usual fringe benefits … all make “free agency” just a polite term for daylight extortion.

Farewell dude. It's his mentality and emotional leadership we'll miss more than anything. Ability wise, we can find comparable talents, or develop them, but the guy was like a lightening rod in the dressing room and it's hard to find those players. But then Rudiger wasn't that guy for the majority of his time here. He developed and matured into that role.

Hey chelsea you can have Maguire for 50 mil as his replacement.

We have our own expensive flops to try and offload mate. You can dispose of your own rubbish, thanks.

However if you give us 97m for Lukaku, I'm sure we can have a conversation :D

Newcastle have entered the chat

or at least, we can both hope. :D

Madrid bound.

If only we could lure away Reece James from them as well, defense would be set. Carvajal is aging and just not that good anymore.

This gives a needed boost to the squad, I’d like it if we moved Alaba to LB and have Militao-Rudger as a CB duo. Mendy isn’t good enough, fine as a back-up.

Honestly as much as we all love him Lampard has to take a lot of the blame with the first 3. Initially played Tomori quite a lot then he was bizarrely frozen out, loaned and sold. Rudiger and Chris fell down the pecking order rapidly, whether that was sporting reasons or personal issues with Frank, who knows. The board & Marina isn't exactly going to enter into contract negotiations with players that aren't getting a sniff. They both had 18 months left on their deals when Tuchel took over, and by the summer when we wanted to tie them down it was already too late.

Apparently agreed to a deal worth 400k a week.
Thats insane, perez has been pretty competent at running the club in his second stint but it seems his bad habits are returning, this may actually strain them, he isn't even that proven in a 4 at the back formation.
