That's because that's the only news they have heard so far. I won't rule out anything till the transfer window shuts or he has moved to Barca. Everyone I England was assuming Lukaku to Chelsea and Sanchez to City. Most people were also assuming Fabinho to Atletico too. Our transfer dealings, especially the major ones, have been pretty off the radar lately till things have been almost confirmed. Even the Dalot deal was rumoured and then completed very quickly and suddenly.
Edit: even if Deschamps did know something about the slight chance Griezmann was in talks to join us, what could he have said? That Antoine was leaving Spain? That would only fuel more rumours.

If that was the case, he wouldn't joke about Griezmann staying in Spain. The joke is intended to be an answer that however is not really one, but states the obvious. Kinda like someone seeing the US elections and asking "Who is this Donald Trump fella?" and someone replying "Well, he's American". Technically an answer and a correct one, but obviously the question required an answer like Donald Trump's eligibility to be a President, etc. Similarly, it is a fact that Griezmann has offers only in Spain and so that is stating the obvious while evading whether he stays or signs for Barca.

Nah don't worry about me. I may sound desperate but I am really more having fun in the ride that is the Muppet Coaster. Lived through so many transfer windows and have never been hurt by them like some people have. If Griezmann comes,then great for us. If he does not, life goes on. I support the club, not the specific players or players-to-be.
However, I still stand by what I said that it ain't over till he joins Barca or till this transfer window shuts. Stranger things have happened in football.

To be honest, I have no idea about how they sold the interview but the last times he has been questioned about it, it didn't felt like someone willing to talk much about it. And at the same time you are right, I imagine that he could ban that topic on Téléfoot even though we are talking about TF1, they love this type of drama and will push really hard for these questions, remember that last year, his interview with Yann Barthes was on TMC.
