He would play in the no.10 position or on the right in a 4-2-3-1. Why do you feel he wouldn't fit into a 4-2-3-1 and what position does he easily fit into in a 4-3-3 that he can't in a 4-2-3-1?

Playing just off of a centre forward (no.10, second striker, centre attacking midfielder - however you choose to describe it) is his best position and where he has established himself as a top class player. He has played from the right for France and used to get moved to that position at Atletico whenever they would switch to a three man midfield. Playing from there, he is less effective as it removes some of his freedom to roam around and find space but he is still a top player. He has played in these two positions consistently for years so I think it's quite clear where he would play for us in a 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3.
The concern is who fits in with him in a 4-2-3-1, this formation only really allows Pogba to play as one of the 2, which I think is a waste, if Herrera is the other 2 then we need a more defense minded 3 in front of them, this again may restrict Griezman assuming he is one of the 3, on reflection maybe a 4-4-1-1 would be the way to go ? I guess the debate is do you choose a system and get players in that work, or choose a system that suits the players we have and wish to keep.

I don't think he's going to be coming here, at least not this summer anyway. It's a bad time for Atletico to sell what with the transfer ban and also I'm not sure if he's the type of striker Mourinho is looking for.

I don't really understand why this would take all summer. If this buy out clause is real I assume you'd just pay it. And if Griezmann actually wants to come you should be able to reach an agreements when it comes to wages.

Maybe I'm wrong, but if this takes all summer it would only be because he doesn't have United as a first choice option imo.
Who says it would take all summer?

I don't think he's fussed about coming. I reckon he'll stay for another season and then stay in Spain. Hope im wrong though.

I think we should spend the kind of money he'll cost on other players.

Hes decent but im not bothered either way if he comes or doesnt.

My top 5, in no particular order, is:

Atletico
Juventus
Bayern
Real Madrid
Barcelona

No team in that group has been put out of the Champions League in the past 3 seasons by any team outside of that group.
Pretty much impossible to disagree with this.

The least desirable signing ever if it happens. I rather spunk his release clause on Harry Kane and i don't even really see Kane as an exciting signing but he can do the job which is scoring goals

Kane is pretty much unsignable though. The difference with Griezmann is he's a world class player we apparently do have a shot at, and there's nothing his club can do about it.

I'm very confident we'll get him as long as win on Wednesday, and I think we will beat Ajax.

He'll be an amazing Premier League player.

This is the key signing that will help propel us back to the top of the world.

If he's ambitious, he will come here. It's this year or never.
Why is he more ambitious joining a club who finished 6th and may or may not be playing in Europe next year rather than staying at a club that regularly reaches the CL semis?

Reaching but winning nothing. United has history of winning big things unlike A.Madrid.

This feels like the Pogba deal. Having said that, while I am not convinced he is the best for us, I think he is coming.

I guess even if many aspects have been discussed with Griezmann, winning the Europa League will still be a condition that will "simplify" the process. Otherwise, we would need to compensate somehow for that, whether financially or whatnot. Maybe the obligation to buy big to maximise the chances to win the league, who knows.

I'd think the other play who would be so good to have would be Alexis Sanchez... but that's a dream just :).

The only thing stopping Griezmann from coming here is CL qualification. His 'home' club is sociedad, we are a bigger club and Simeone plays even more negative than Mourinho. We can obviously offer more money. The only question to be answered is if United can give him football at the highest level.

You forgot Spain and his will to leave it.

Nah can't remember having doubts about Pogba coming. Griezmann happening feels far more uncertain.

A LOT of people were oddly skeptical at the time.

Same shite:

"Juve are way better than us. Why would he leave?"

"Italy has nice weather."

Etc. etc.

Miserable, negative twats that always think the grass is greener than their own lawn.

All I am looking for is something concrete that says we are definitely interested. If I see any evidence of that, I would be completely shocked if we didn't get him.

exactly, if we want him and have cl, I can't see his reason why nt to and if he doesn't want to come, we could just add a bit more cash and spunk the money on mbappe as a f*** you sign to him

His idols David fekin Beckham, his favourite clubs Manchester United. He will come if we are willing to pay

And the state of People. Actually thinking Kanes better when he's done jack all in Europe,nt, and is surrounded by a better attack/attacking focused team.

Greizzmanns scoring record is very good and Kane's a much worse creative player

I think the pogba transfer saga drained all our muppet powers and we wont be able to pull this one off. Sorry guys, aint happening :(

He's basically a must buy for us. He would give our impotent attack much need goals and creativity.
Whilst we need his goals I don't think he has all the attributes we need in a player to justify spending 90m on him mainly because after signing him we will still need an upgrade on one of our flanks and possibly a striker. I would rather we spend 120m on Aubameyang and B.Silva because both would add the creativity, goals and pace we are lacking than spend 90m on Griezmann and find ourselves still needing a striker and a winger a few months down the line.

think we might see that (Auba and Bernardo) but I wouldn't rule out Griezmann either, sounds insane but I wouldn't be surprised if we got all 3
