I think Dybala or Griezmann would shine the most as a deep striker behind a leading striker. Which would mean though that we would have to drop Rooney which doesn't seem to be an option atm.
We all know football manager mirrors real life and I can tell you that my man utd line up of the below is devastating:

Dybala
Martial - Griezmann - Rashford

My god the Hyperbowl,You need to drop Rashford one of the goals he scored had a deflection. Don't you dare point out the fact that he had to skin their defence in order to score 2 of the 3 goals and we all know a penalty is not a real goal unless a united player misses it of course.

He's not got the physicality of a Mourinho type player. I think his signing will depend on how we fill out the rest of the front 3. If Rashford or Mikhitaryan can prove to be physically dominant presences, there'll be room enough for a waif like Griezmann.

Griezmann's a quality player, but our current manager clearly values his system more than individuals. Fergie was a rare manager in the opposing sense (as are most others, to be fair).

I would say that he is similar to Hazard in the sense of his style of play (are not 100% defensively minded) and physical stature which Mourinho has worked with before and contributed to both their benefit.

I'm finding it hard to remember any missed pen being called a real goal to be honest..

What do you mean by that?

To those saying Griezmann maybe isn't physical enough for a Mourinho side: he isn't physical enough for Mourinho, yet manages to play for Simeone? Simeone, who is basically Mourinho on steroids? He'll do fine if we sign him. Big if though. Will instantly be up there with Aguero and Hazard as the best player in the league. I mean he makes it work with Torres and Giroud, imagine what he could do playing off Zlatan or Rashford

they have history with French and African players

They do, but by the same token, it must be pointed out that Manchester United fans are quite pious in their belief in a French God:

I mean that they are not defensive wingers and not renowned for defensive work rate which is why I think JM would not be put off by (in terms of AG) since having worked with Hazard before. Make sense or am I talking crap?

Griezmann has a pretty big defensive work rate, he has nothing to do with Hazard.

Yeah maybe in few years. Maybe...time will tell.

I'll take your word for it. Also thanks for the enlightening info (in bold)

But seriously I am not saying that Griezmann does not do any defensive work, my point is that JM would not have a problem with working with him being so attack minded and not a physical beast.

Griezmann is an attacker, he isn't a midfielder and he does more defensive work than most midfielders. That's why I said that he has nothing to do with Hazard, Simeone turned him into a workhorse, for example very often you can see him cover Saul and Koke.

its Bayern who should be feared in a race for Griezmann. His love of Simeone and Atlerico probably means he'd never play for Real Madrid. PSG have the cash but their league is weak. Same as Juve in Italy. But Bayern have money and room. Ribery and Robben are soon retiring and Bayern are one hell of an attraction. I feel in England us, Chelsea and City have equal chances of convincing him
But Bayern could blow us all out of the water.....

Aside from the fact that we don't tend to pay transfer fees of that magnitude, how are we supposed to fit him in? Griezmann is way too similar to Müller in what he does and where he plays. I see 0% chance of us going for Griezmann. He's just not what we need next season, namely someone to replace Alonso and a true winger.
I think Chelsea and maybe City would be your only competition, should Griezmann want to have a change in scenery.

I would love to see Griezmann at United but if Mourinho doesn't feel he will fit the system then it might well not happen. I think Bale would be more of a fit for a Mourinho team and I don't think we want to end up with a square peg in a round hole

get back into the champions league, following a go at the title, and we can really be an attractive proposition for any player.

Depends on Rooney. If he goes next season as we all hope then Griezmann is the only viable WC front three or #10 target out there.

If Rooney goes then I truly think we will trigger his release clause, it all depends on the players wishes really. Perhaps if Atletico falls behind the big two in Spain and doesn't convince in the CL this season Griezmann will realize he needs to move on? Also the 2x wages and marketabillity he will get with us never hurts.

The main problem with Griezmann is that he loves the spanish life.

He said himself that he sees himself going to the premier league one day. Maybe next summer, or maybe the summer after when Simeone leaves, but he wont stay at atleti forever and there's only like 4 realistic options for him. PSG, United, City or Chelsea. United would definitely be favourites from that.

Actually he didn't said that, he was asked about the premier league by Telefoot and he answered:"Why not? If I'm out of contract with Atletico, I'll ask myself the question."

With a transfer ban..does that mean we wont be able to buy him until atheltico find a replacement which they cant?

Isn't these release clauses in Spain difficult for foreign teams to activate?

Bilbao always made it very difficult to do, Atletico have been willing to accept, but in this situation they probably wouldn't.

Think we will go in for him the season after next to play behind Rashford.

Think both Rooney and Zlatan will leave in the summer of 2018.

IF we manage to win the title this year highly doubt zlatan would leave. maybe if he has a shit season which i highly doubt too.

would be his last chance for a run for the CL title

Agree, he'll do two years here then leave.

Mourinho already said he's staying 2 seasons at least, so my guess would be 2018 or 19.

IMO it's also possible that Zlatan will do 3 or even 4 seasons for us with the last couple as an impact player from the bench, if he likes it here. It really depends on how much he fancies having a go at MLS.

Oh I don't think we will have a problem being an attractive prospect to Griezmann (if he's looking to move), we've a strong French contingent, can offer better wages than most and hopefully now have a manager that will get us back competing.

My only concern is if Mourinho sees him as the fans do. Can he use Griezmann in his system?

I'm sure I have seen interviews with him pulling a face at staying another year after this.. But we can only hope if he keeps it up ofc

Edit:

I'd like to see next season, remember Mourinho likes his 10 as an attacking midfielder not normally a striker like Griezzy, Rooney is an exception to the rule because Rooney.

Griezmann
Martial - Mkhitaryan - Rashford
That's if Ibra doesn't stay for next season, if he does then we're in pickle and I'll be re editing what I said previously ^

He will definitely stay next year, he has a contract we can extend for a further year and he will want to play in Champions League if we make it there.

3 maybe, 4 no. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if he loses his place in the second half of next season.

Age matters after all. On Ibra's case less than for most players, but eventually it will catch with him. No way he will be playing for us when is 38 (almost 39) which will be the case if he would stay here 4 years. Players of that age who play for top clubs are almost exclusively club legends and one club players (Totti, Giggs, Scholes).

As Rooney is the current shirt holder in that position, and doesn't offer many of the strengths that he used to, it's unlikely we'd lose much, if anything switching to Griezmann.
The days of Rooney's ferocious work rate and power are long gone.

Him and Veratti are probably my dream purchases for next year, followed by Saul. Out of the 3, it seems Griezmann is by far the most attainable. While I do think he loves Atletico (mainly Simone) and living in Spain, and if all was equal he would stay there long term, I do think the wages he will make if he moves on to either us or PSG could change his mind. I do think he would be an amazing fit with the team long term, as he could opperate as a 10 for us in the current 4-2-3-1, or move out right in a 4-3-3. I've always been intrigued by having a very fluid front 3 in attack (see us in 2008 or Barca's current set up), and I do think a combo of Rashford, Martial and Griezmann has that type of versatility.

I'm not an ITK or anything, but I talked to someone pretty high up at the club for a few minutes, and I asked who our main transfer target will be next year. I was told that probably Griezmann, and that the club knows he's a big United fan.

I knew these kind of posts are frowned up, but maybe it will make some fellow muppet giddy.

Him, Bale, a DM and a CB pleaaase. In Jan will do but I guess I could wait until next summer.

He's second choice.

C'mon, you know how this works. Unless you state who it was and how you met him everybody is going to think your making it up. Convince the caftards.
