Never understood people that take things so serious. It was a little joke. Deary me. If he celebrates, as @Sammyjunn said, it means he's scored. If he scores, then I'm happy. That is assuming he joins United, of course.

Yeah, jokes don't always translate on a written forum. What I do know is that I've read many people complaining about players' celebration, or I remember when people were complaining that Thierry Henry didn't smile enough, it's ridiculous. Maybe you meant it as a joke, but I can promise you there are others who are serious about it for whatever reason.

So he does want to leave. That's what I'm getting from this

"My agents have spoken with Atletico"

Yesterday we are told he told the club he wants to leave. He's all but confirming it!

I don't have the motivation to panic or interpret anything from those quotes so I'm just going to ignore the thread for now.

He confirms agents spoke to the club

A respected Atletico Journo breaks a story saying griezmann asked to leave.

2+2 = 6/10

That's confirming he's asked to leave hasn't it? Also explaining to the main Atletico personalities why he's leaving?

Or his agent has spoken with them with a view to negotiating a new, bigger, contract at Atletico

We're having a problem this Summer with random bloggers getting Twitter verified and then getting their made up crap posted on here

"My agent spoke to the club" = confirms COPE story

"My future is in the hands of the president" = Please get the deal done

"I've spoken with my coach and friends" = I told my coach and team mates.

This could either mean he's told the President he wants to leave, or he wants Atletico to increase his current salary.

If he was 100% committed to staying, he would simply say so.

Why would his future be in the hands of the club president. Doesn't sound as good to me tbh:nervous:

Apparently, he is in the middle of contract negotiations and he allegedly demanded something. So the supposition is that the club's answer will determine whether he signs or leaves.

because the deal has to be done through the club? IMO this is griezmann asking the club to get the transfer done.

Wasn't the general consensus here that we would have to activate the release clause as they are unlikely to accept a bid given their own transfer ban?

He wouldnt get a payrise if he says he wants to stay 100%. This way he threatens to leave and gets more money offered to stay.

There's nothing in the hand so the club if he has a buyout clause, so it doesn't make sense.

This.

If the agents have spoken to the club it means he's intending to leave. Fact that he spoke to the coach and friends only means he told em he's off. It's great news. It's on like donkey of kong

Unless its posing from his side for the Athletico fans that he engaged with all in the club before deciding he had no option but to leave. That's also possible...

It's still in the presidents hands to get it done. He wants it done. This is his statement that isn't a statement.

Why does he have to speak to his coach and team mates about getting a pay rise?

I think the buyout clause has to be paid in one lump sum to be activated. We have lots of money but we're not Google, paying 85m in one go (means higher taxes) would make the accountants worry big time.

He can speak to his colleagues about anything. It's an uncertain future, he'd speak to them whichever way hes swaying.

I don't get how the president of Atletico has to get anything done. Man utd haven't even made a bit yet, which is why again, his comment doesn't make sense.

Is it a lump sum issue or tax issue? I forgot which Atletico can oblige is for, if any.

Really all the signs point towards him leaving. He could've used the press conference to easily deny that he hasn't asked to leave the club, but to my knowledge he hasn't which is a bit odd.
