Telling them now might give them some preparation to sort out a replacement if they want. Telling them early is the right thing to do anyway
I think there are tax issues with release clauses - also (more likely) selling clubs want to demonise the outgoing player and be able to say "he asked to leave".

The physicality argument for the EPL is long dead and buried, there's been plenty of slight players she who have been a success here now and when you consider how physical the rest of our side is, having one or two in there like Griezmann and Mata is no problem.

Griezmann dreamed of Real knew the complications, plead with Barca to sign him by crying to Valverde. Is reluctantly signing for United because Pep didn't want to pay what United are willing to pay. Griezmann is using United will try and force for move to Real next season and Pep will continue to purchase bargains as he goes on this unbelievably difficult task of building City from English minnow to Europe's elite.
