I'm not sure he's the player we need, a little like Berbatov. Not in the way he plays as such, but in that he's a little of a luxury player in my eyes. When the rest of the team is firing he'll score and look silky smooth, but he's not the sort to make the difference on his own like Hazard or Sanchez might.

Having said that, if he turns out to be Mata but without being handicapped by having no pace then he'd be a useful replacement for him.

Also, so damn handsome I want him to sign for us. Not sure why I want us to have the most handsome team in the league, but I sort of just do....
We have players in Rashford, Pogba and Martial who can magic up a moment of brilliance out of nothing.

Right now we need the players who will make us a team. Mourinho loves a functional side so you can bet your left nut there is a specific role for him in this side and we will have the players needed around him to ensure he shines.

♬♬Griez me, Griez me, Griez me baby,
With your ball control.
Griez me with your goals until I lose control,
Take all my muppeting soul.♬♬

Most of us in here won't have a left nut by end of week if the news continues like this.

I disagree here. He is not a trickstar but is a player that keeps it nice and simple, is very direct to the point. He can be relied on to score that 1 off big chance in a big game. Or to pull out a goal from outside the box, score a freekick. Some of his goals in big games have been 1 off chances that he has taken successfully.

He brings pace, goals, crucially, match winning goals and not to forget, is accustomed to good counter attacking football that Mourinho's best teams have been reknown for.

Hope we sign him...

Does anyone else feel caught up in the glamour of this deal rather than by the excitement of the player himself?

As in im not too fussed about Griezeman coming but because its high profile transfer, im keeping up with the news.

I'm caught up with the fact that he scores goals and creates goals.

I hope he gets his hair cut before his unveiling.

His hair is perfect, what's not to like about this?

Let's hope he wants to leave to us and not PSG/Bayern :nervous:
PSG are getting aubemeyang, hopefully bayern get sanchez. Even if they don't i don't think they will sign Griezmann without selling either muller or lewandowski, since we haven't heard of either being up for sale, they clearly aren't interested.

So Atletico will know on Thursday about the CAS decision according to Marca(though I think they already know the decision but won't make it public till Thursday)

Think Griezmann also knows the ban was overturned

I can't believe there's people that doubt Griezmann's qualities and whether he'll improve us. He's absolutely a World class player in his prime and would be great in the English league. Works his bollocks off, plays with heart, is a great finisher and provider and is versatile and intelligent. He's also got an excellent injury record.

If we do sign him (which is looking more than likely) I'd suspect if he plays 50 games (all comps) we are getting a 25-30 goal a season player for at least the next 3 seasons.

I've done the liberty of estimating where Antoine might be between now and July 8th to get an idea of when he might sign.
This is all dependent on if he plays any/all of the 3 games this June.

Potential Griezmann timeline:
May 30th - May 31st/ June 1st: in spain, travelling back to Rennes, France.
June 1st - June 2nd: in the training camp with France for the international game vs Paraguay, in Rennes. Game on at 8pm GMT.
June 3rd - 6th: ?
June 6-7th: Flying to stockholm with French squad
June 8-9th: training camp with France for WC qualifier game vs Sweden, in Friends Arena, Sweden.
June 9-12: ?
June 12-13th: training camp with France, near Paris presumably
June 13th: in squad for game vs England, in Stade De France.
June 14th -30th? Honeymoon with his new wife???
July 1st - 8th?

If we sign him, it'll probably become more concrete after the 14th, but before the 30th June.

I'll add to this when I get more info....

Just putting this out there right away so I can tell you "I told you so" or you can all ridicule me later on depending on who will be right.

I think Griezemann is not as good as he's made to be. He doesn't influence the game enough and is not worth the 100 mil €+ that you'll end up paying for him.

From commercial perspective it's a dream signing because it pushes you above all EPL contenders in the "galactico/superstar squad" segment, and puts you right below Real and Barca in that sense, but on the pitch I think he's just not worth it.

Time will tell..

Agreed. He is clinical so will score goals but he will not do much to improve team fluidity and he will struggle with the physicality of the EPL.
