He's one of the best players in the world.
Why isn't another club giving us a run for our money for him?
This just seems far too easy.
Exactly what I was thinking.Griezmanns mind was probably made up the day he saw Lingard doing his flute playing, irish dance celebration. He must have thought "now there's a club I can showcase my celebrations at".
He's on holiday at the moment so we're probably looking at still more than a week till anything official.Let's announce this asap to stop the bitching and moaning on here.
No translation needed really but:
Why would we do that? We're paying his release clause which means that we aren't really dealing with Atletico at all.Think this has been all sorted but we are giving Alt Madrid time to buy their own replacements first before announcing Antoine. Juventus did the same thing when they signed Higuain first before selling Pogba and everyone knew where they were getting that money from

Yes, they're very good friends.Aren't Pogba and Griezmann good friends? It's on.
In these cases it's sensible to try and negotiate with the club first, to reach an agreement around the clause value without needing to force it through. Going through the rigmarole of giving the money to Griezmann who then buys himself out of his contract is a nuclear option that could sour relations between clubs/between AG and Atleti fans.
Did we pay the release clause for Herrera in the end? That was one hell of a transfer all parties had to go through
Been away.
Pls can someone tell me what happened?

Remember thinking at the time how cringeworthy that celebration was. Would be worth it if it played even a small part in Griezmann's decision-making process.Griezmanns mind was probably made up the day he saw Lingard doing his flute playing, irish dance celebration. We're rich but we're not Google, 85 million plus other likely fees involved in one lump sum would likely make us sweat financially. Why would we do that? We're paying his release clause which means that we aren't really dealing with Atletico at all.
Pogba pretty much confirmed this transfer.
I strongly doubt that Atletico is willing to sell for less than 85m. I have no idea if they're willing to sell for 85m and I'm pretty sure there aren't any economic differences in paying the release clause vs paying Atletico. We're rich but we're not Google, 85 million plus other likely fees involved in one lump sum would likely make us sweat financially.

I don't think we're paying less than the release clause, but the big question is how we're paying. We'd likely want several installments over the next couple of years. The actual size of the fee is only half the story, how we're paying the fee is just as important.I strongly doubt that Atletico is willing to sell for less than 85m. Definitely. Marketing, shirt sales and the fact that he's having an impact on the reputation of the club which again decides which players we can attract. Would we have a chance on Griezmann if we didn't sign Pogba last summer? I'm not so sure. Add to all this the fact that he has been one of our best players this season and he'll get even better, no doubt. How silly do all these people look now? The people that said Pogba was not worth £90 million. Pogba is worth £90 million in marketing alone and then some.
I think there are, unless something has changed in Spain recently. Something to do with paying more in tax if the clause is triggered. Bilbao used that to feck over anyone trying to buy their players, including us with the Herrera transfer.I strongly doubt that Atletico is willing to sell for less than 85m. Yeah true. My best guess is that Atletico decline every offer and we'll be forced to pay the release clause.I don't think we're paying less than the release clause, but the big question is how we're paying. Seems like there aren't;I think there are, unless something has changed in Spain recently. Something to do with paying more in tax if the clause is triggered. Bilbao used that to feck over anyone trying to buy their players, including us with the Herrera transfer.
Yeah, we did. As far as I know, we tried to negotiate with them but they had no intention of selling. It was a bit different back then in that the fee was massively increased by the tax situation. As Sport Witness have pointed out, that tax has now been removed, so the only amount you have to pay is the clause and nothing more.
Cheers.Seems like there aren't;
Yeah after the final but only released today. Is this quote from last Wednesday?
It's not nothing, it's something substantial but we can well afford it.85m is nothing for us.
This. Its on like donkey kong playing Ping Pong and singing a song.
It's always on.Is it still on?
