I struggle to see the full hype with him. He's a good player but that's it Imo. Not worth a €100m. I can't see him being a goal or assist per game sort of player, which you would need to be to justify such a price tag, not to mention the fact that he doesn't seem to have the strength or pace to succeed in such a physical league.

Its all about presentation 'when' we sign him. The Stormzy Pogba one was good, but it can be topped this year.

Have Drake do a music video, which sings about making a change in life, then drop in a hotline bling lyric which reveals Griezmann, who does the dance and is presented his new #7 shirt by David Beckham.
I don't know about the rest of it, but I have found myself hoping that during the official unveiling we have Beckham come in to hand him the #7. And Griezmann doesn't know about it until he walks in with it.

Just can't get excited about this one....I just don't see where we are going to play him.

Same here. I just don't think he's worth spending half of our 200m transfer kitty on.
RWF. He's a lefty and can score goals from all distances and angles. Also has great movement. We need a goal scoring wide player. He has scored 20+ 4 seasons in a row without being the main striker so is exactly what we have been crying out for. Bale, Robben, Hazard are not the only goal scoring attacking midfielders out there.

If we go 4-3-3 then he'll be a wide forward. Or a number 10 in a 4-2-3-1.

He's a fantastic player and if he comes you'll be eating your words!

Just had a thought; does anyone know if he speaks much English? I've got to admit I'm going to be a little disappointed if we have to listen to translations of his interviews once he arrives.

Apparently he's been taking English lessons from September 2016.
Although he probably already has some basic.

That's untrue.

Why do people think physical attributes are needed to excel in this league? Kane doesn't have any stand out physical attributes and he's been excellent in the Prem.

And Griezmann is no slouch either. He's probably as quick as Aguero is now.

Wow. Didn't know he was so prolific. Damn fine stats those.

I think playing Griezmann as a wide forward is a waste, but it wouldn't surprise me if Jose did that.

Rather play him behind a striker or even as a lone striker(although I doubt Jose would use him there).

Your far too patient

I agree with you, but Kane isn't a great example I don't think.

He's 6ft 2, strong in the air and with his back to goal, but can still shift, he's by no means slow. This misconception is common and I don't really know why, FIFA maybe. Maybe not standout physical attributes but he's a classic no.9 shape/physicality.

Agree about Griezmann though.

Indeed. I thought people would be over the notion that all players would struggle in the physical EPL. Tell that too Silva Modric Fabregas Mata etc...

Its actually 20, 25, 32, 26. thats 100 goals from a non number 9

recently wide forwards score more in the premier league. I feel it would be easier to find space between the lines of FB than the crowded central positions nowadays. I In his first real goals coring season at Zaragoza, I believe he was playing wide, and played there at the WC in 2014 for France. He will probably be given Hazard like freedom. he'll be fine

That's understandable... Whilst city spend big and improve their attack, we should keep hold of our money for fear of wasting it on world class players who will improve us.

This transfer budget thing is bs. Ed Woodward and other managers confirmed many times that we are not limited by a budget.

Even if we get him for 100m, this won't take up half of our budget. Accounting wise, this will only take up about 20-25m of our transfer kitty for this summer, as for accounting purposes, the fee is spread over the duration of his contract (e.g. 25m for 4 years, 20m for 5, etc.). Don't understand how people don't want this guy when he's one of the most clinical finishers in world football for the past few years. I'd rather spend this much than buy a mediocre forward for 30-40m.

Even without taking that into account it's like people don't realise the market has moved on. Morata is being quoted at €75m, Belotti at €60m and Lukaku at €100m yet people think they'd be better value than a player that finished 3rd in the Ballon D'or at €100m.

I think some people enjoy going against the grain and making controversial opinions for the hell of it. How can any sane person look at the state of our attack and come to the conclusion Greizmann isn't what we need? Makes zero sense.

Got a feeling that £200m is a conservative estimate by some of the media outlets. I expect everyone in the PL to go big this year, us and City will spend over £200m I reckon.
City already look like they're going to spend well over £200m, could be the biggest spending season ever.

People act like its their money and are afraid to part with it  United will always get shite for paying whatever fee it is we pay, people are jealous of us. No one gives a fack that Otamendi, Mangala, Stones were all around 40 mil. But if we had bought that donkey Mangala other fans would call us embarrassing etc. Don't tell a rich man how to spend his own money is what I say to them :)

Griezmann is a world class talent, if people like Vardy are worth 30 million or whatever at the age of 29/30 then the 3rd placed player for the Ballon D'or is worth a hell of a lot more based on todays market!

Viva La Griezmann, see you soon my lovely little French man

Easily. Jose even admitted that Pogba deal record will be broken this summer in a heartbeat.

Absolutely agree with both of you. To the first point, these triple digit figures are only going to become more common as these TV deals become even more lucrative in the future (as well as market inflation where mid-tier players are going for 30m+).

To the latter point, I think this issue has really grown over the past couple of years on the Caf. People love to be contrarians, and make controversial against the grain statements just to appear more intelligent than most (sensible) posters. Completely agree. I think this has especially been intensified since the retirement of Fergie and our fade into a top 6 side.

quite. People complain that we don't have players who can get into top teams around Europe. Barcelona spent their budget on Neymar, then Suarez when available. Real did the same with Bale and Ronaldo when available. Real would also spend 100mill + on Hazard. Griezmann was recently 3rd best player in the world through merit and has actually performed on bigger stages than Hazard yet fans are nervous about buying him. How else will we challenge them? hope and pray that Rashford and Martial become the next Henry and Anelka? Griezmann has only just turned 26 and is the same age as Hazard, thus prime age for a big move.

Look how his 'G' looks like in 'England' and 'Europa League'

Looks like AF to me sadly.. Antoine Finally

Zlatan seems to be the only player who scored this season

And ppl "are not sure" about a player who can lead the line or play on the wings or behind the striker... But most importantly, he scores like a maniac! To me, exactly what we need. Hes the type of player SAF would sign also.

Woody... Do your magic
