End of june? Ffs!
Just get it done, then enjoy your vacation with more pocket money.

I find muppet season very frustrating!
Just waiting and waiting..... and waiting....
Read some random tweets, wait some more... see new tweets that makes us think it won't happen.
Some more waiting... then some ITK confirms the deal will go through, before Ballbag tells us he's wrong, and wants to stay in Madrid.
So we wait some more, then his brother says it's on, and buys a United shirt with Griezmann on the back.

Meanwhile Acquire me's legend status on here gets even bigger, cause apparantly he knew all the time, and told us several times. But we weren't convinced, cause of some tweet from a random Lithuanian expert, who noone ever heard of, said Griez was going to PSG.
Then we sign him, 9 days before season kicks off, and he's had too little time with the team to start the season well, so Mourinho give him the Micky/Martial threatment.

Bleh! Just get it done already!

 Uncanny.

So he's in America for a two week holiday then? I give it at least 7 more days until he starts posting pre-season basketball training videos, then another 7 until we're all desperately finding out which flights from LAX are heading to Manchester via Madrid.

Erm, he's playing Paraguay in Rennes next Friday and Sweden in Stockholm the following Friday.

Oh, I think I've cracked the coded 'Take me Holm' message. They were actually referring to Griezmann coming home, to Manchester, directly from Stockholm after the match on 9 June. Mark the date lads

Edit: Just realised they play England in Paris on 13 June. Scratch my revolutionary find above :(

If we're signing him then are we still signing a number 9?

And what about a winger too?

Surely we're not gonna buy three attackers this summer?

This better be sorted before my wedding and Honeymoon. No way can I relax in the Maldives knowing this deal isn't done!
Nah it will be fine. When you're staring into your wife's eyes whilst saying your vows, just pretend you're looking at Antoine instead.

'I do'.

I refuse to acknowledge this as an official transfer saga until we hear the line "Only God knows where I'll be playing next year."

It's obvious. He will play ahead of Pogba and left of the main striker.

>>>>>>>MF Herrera Pogba

>>>RWF..............................Grizz

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>#9>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

When in defensive shape he will drop wide (often does when playing for Atletico) and when we break he will come more centrally (and Pogba will go left). Maybe that's where a more consistent, attacking left back would be useful and make that side about the scariest in Europe.

IMO, of course.

Yeah, definitely need a world class left back to make that work. Griezmann just isn't a winger, and we need to let him play centrally and roam. We'll need a LB with a great engine who is also good going forward to make that formation work.

Its all about presentation 'when' we sign him. The Stormzy Pogba one was good, but it can be topped this year.

Have Drake do a music video, which sings about making a change in life, then drop in a hotline bling lyric which reveals Griezmann, who does the dance and is presented his new #7 shirt by David Beckham.

You jest, but I can 100% see this.

I'd actually be disappointed if it's not something on these lines.

I'm a muppet but I'm not up for this one. Isn't he just a number 10 with an eye for goals that will get lost in our team? I've never really watched him but if he is a goal scorer we need someone to give him the ball or is a Bale type player where he can get the ball and run and score as I miss runners.

Someone send me some YouTube videos where he looks amazing and then my inner muppet can come out

Hard to see us lining up other than a 4-2-3-1 or an equivalent formation (4-4-2, 4-4-1-1)to that next season if Grirezman comes here. I believe it is the best way to get the best out of him. Play him behind a power forward like Lukaku or Belotti or Zlatan and we have a very potent attack. However, Mourinho is probably not a fan of such attacking football, so I would not be surprised if he plays him out wide with a midfield three or a back three. I will be surprised if he plays as the lone striker here.

He's in the top 5 footballers on the planet, youtube videos don't do him justice.

Think of one of the most clinical strikers around at the moment, then combine with silky link up play and a blistering turn if pace! He'll set the prem on fire if and when he comes

He's a final third player. Excellent movement and very efficient in front of goal. In theory, that's what we need given Zlatan's wastefulness in front of goal but he's not going to be played up top and we could maybe have a situation where in we have lots of good goalscorers but not enough creators in the side.

We created loads at times this season so I wouldn't be too worried about not creating. Plus Griezmann has excellent link up play himself.

We didnt create enough over the entire season.

Below is the number of chances created over all 38 games

Spurs 504
Liverpool 496
Man City 482
Man United 447
Chelsea 446
Arsenal 431
Everton 392

We need to be much closer to the 500 mark and adding a more creative player in the final 3rd would help

Kinda pity Atletico. Over the past decade, their top forward players had left for PL....and potentially ongoing...

Torres - Liverpool
Aguero - City
Costa - Chelsea
Griezmann - :devil::devil: :confused::confused:

Like I said though Griezmann is both creative and a finisher.

Also our form massively tailed off the last few months of the season so without that we probably wouldn't have been far off.

Yet Chelsea won the league with less created chances than us

Griezmann has not been more creative than your average SS. The other top teams have players that are more creative than a goal scoring threat e.g. Hazard, Silva, De Bruyne, Eriksen etc We have more of goal scorers than creators with Mata being the most creative. Unfortunately, he will likely be dropped if Griezmann arrives.

I am not a fan of the Griezmann transfer and feel we are better suited getting a very good #9 and a creative AM like James, Bernardo Silva, or Ozil. We could potentially get both of those for the same price we are likely to pay for Griezmann and integrating Griezmann will take some tweaking so that we dont end up like France, trying to play 4-2-3-1 but ending up witha 4-4-2 as Griezmann was too far up the field.

Their ability to replace forwards is incredible.

When you are clinical like chelsea and can also score from set pieces, you dont need to create as much in open play. Currently we are nothing like that.

Yes Griezman will likely score a lot of his chances, but having easier and more chances to score benefits the team overall more than relying on a lone player being clinical. We would simply be swapping Griezmann for Ibra in carrying the team.

Just can't get excited about this one....I just don't see where we are going to play him.

One of the most bizarre reasons not to get excited about signing a world class player.

Bizarre? It's not Harlem Globetrotters and you don't have to shoehorn players into teams cause they are world class? Like I said, can't see where he'd play and that aside I think he's way overpriced even in today's market. Honestly there are better, younger and more traditional strikers that the money would be better spent on trying to get.

Better, younger strikers? Like who?

There's still a decent chance he could be the lone man up front next season; I know most people believe Mourinho wants a big man up front, but we haven't actually relied on that kind of attacking approach that often this season. Griezmann at 10 is still most likely though, its such a shame Zlatan will be injured, I feel they would have combined really well together.

Also it's just my opinion, but Lukaku for me would not combine well with Griezmann at all (or really any strike partner frankly).

Ibra/Rashford and Griezmann. The prospect is just tantalizing

Hopefully he will be the one that would help connect all the dots in the current United team.

Haven't looked through the thread properly but Pogba posted something last night about next season being on fire and he did the Griezmann celebration and animation in his text which Griezmann liked. Sorry if it's been mentioned already.

Is that a sign he's on his way?

Griezmann is not #9. But he is kinda versatile. AM, SS, WF.

Like Mkhi, tactical Mou could use his versatility to max, which is a bonus.

In short, Griezmann's strengths are:
1. Goal
2. Assist
3. Link up play
4. Pace
5. Skillful
6. Could at least take free kick, header

Overall, quite a balance attacker

We been missing all these throughout the season. Ever since Zlatan injured, mathematically we score either zero or one goal per game, which is shocking. And our link up play has been non-existent, not helped by Mkhi & Lingard consistently wasting ball.

I just feel like Griezmann is the missing puzzle here. He cant solve all the problems, but he is the key to solve it.

However, he is not proven in PL. His strength could be an issue and that might hinder his ability to execute his exquisite skills effectively, I fear.

Given my view that Jose will, most of the time, alternate btw 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, Griezmann will likely play as right WF, which is what we are lacking. Mkhi is not proper right WF, nor mata is effective there. Both Mkhi and Mata would likely play as #10 @ 4-2-3-1. Left WF position we have Martial, Mkhi (not his best position), or even Rashford.

Occassionally, Mou would use 3-5-2, and Griezmann would fit in there perfectly.

Would be surprised if Mou plays Griezmann as #9, though wouldnt be surprised Griezmann would play there during injury crisis. Rashford likely starter @ EFL/FA, super sub @ PL/CL, Rooney very likely gone, even if Zlatan stays, which I believe he will, he not gonna start every game @ PL/CL, so we gonna need another #9.

I think Griezmann best position is the current one at Atletico, playing 4-4-2 with another striker. As much as I miss Fergie 4-4-2, don think Mou wil play it nxt season. Just not his style. He has never ever played Fergie's 4-4-2 (not Chelsea diamond 4-1-2-1-2) @ Porto/Inter/RM/Chelsea. And we just don't have traditional wide winger like Giggs/Kanchelski to do it
