I think if Griezmann's comments had been made during the season they might have been a bit more questionable.

As it is, the optimist in me reckons it's a done deal. Either way, once the new season starts he's either left or he's stayed so it shouldn't make any difference now.
 
He said his priority is to win trophies and it's easier to win Europa than CL. That makes sense

This is hilarious. All he has to do is talk about how he heard Cheshire is a wonderful place to live and we have the set.
 
least the good thing about what he has said is that we wont need to wait all summer to find out if he will be coming to us, clearly the deal is all set up if he is that confident it will be done inside 2 weeks, massive upgrade on Mata, Rooney and the rest, not sure where he will actually play but for me a top player.

The bold part, every time I've seen him play, he's played central coming deep and running with the ball, but has someone who is running beyond him, Pogba does the same job for us.

Did he actually say that CL is important in him moving on, or is that what the journos/fans decided themselves?

All I heard him say was he wants to win titles, I presumed that to mean league titles first.
 
Is Griezmann going to take #7 or #10. I'd rather he takes #10 and Bernardo gets #7.

It's an educated guess, he came 3rd in the Balon d'Or so he probably wants to be in the best club competition to showcase his talents and grow his brand.
 
Its funny how people will believe anything they read as being a direct quote to suit their narrative... Unless I see a video of him saying anything I will not believe a word in the printed gutter press who can't be trusted on most things let alone football hearsay.

We have a video of him saying that he has a chance of joining United "6 out of 10 " chance etc. that is the only thing I believe in terms of quotes from him. We get allot of garbage twitter whores trying to ride off the back of unfounded sources and rumours.

What I do find satisfying is that Griezmann has stolen the thunder of these rats that are stealing a living by basically announcing he is on his way. This would have crushed the gutter press as it means they can't draw this out over the whole summer while gaining clicks and revenue.

Griesmann announces he's looking at coming here so you get the usual twitter twats trying to salvage something out of the situation by putting crap out there like "Griezmann will only come if United win EL and get CL" its the next logical step for them to take.

I just wish he could put that one to bed as well by saying CL was not a perquisite. One day I hope that all transfers can be announced early and the narrative controlled by the clubs to shut down this fecking BS industry.

His advisor Eric ollhats said something about them waiting to see if United will be in the CL

It's an assumption, there's no point in making assumptions.
I could equally say that he has no aspiration to win a Balon d'Or currently because he only wants to win titles, and neither of us would ever know the truth
Personally I think he purposely didn't mention CL because he's open to moving to us with or without CL.

He hasn't said anything in the last few days, so the situation could have changed, and even then an advisor is just that. Doesn't mean he dictates where Griezzy will move or not.

He's been angling for the #7.

I say let him have it considering his attitude to moving here, his attitude to winning and being a super talent. He'd be a great fit for it.

I Agree. You don't pass on your dream home, if it doesn't have a pool. You just build it yourself.

Imo, He wants a commitment from the club that they will sign top players and continue to compete for trophies. Whether we qualify for champions league today or not he's pretty much decided already.

Same thing happened with Ronaldo and Real, they went and got Alonso, Kaka, Benzema in same window and than continued to add top players every summer after. If we sign Griezmann, I expect a 2009 real madrid type offseason. A lot of new faces and a lot of people shown the door.

Change Martial to Myki, then get a good DM in that midfield. Then we'd be a serious league contenders.
If we can get another good winger in place of Rashford, now the title should be ours.

Nothing wrong with it. Most United fans appreciate it. Of course if he don't move to us, he'll get a ton of abuse so it's much of nothing. You see people when they get excited. They even thank the people breaking the stories like they had anything to do with the deal. People don't care. They just get excited.
 
Obviously Griezmann won't have any say in who we sign, but I'm pretty sure transfer plans and profile of players have been discussed with him. After all, he's probably the most wanted player in the World currently and he's making a decision that will take up his prime years. Given that Woody has turned us more into a hotbed for Galatico's and now we have an intelligent manager who actually knows what he's doing in the transfer market dare I say if Griezmann signs it's because our short and mid-term transfer and trophy targets are very attractive to him. Oh, and the bunse on offer is insanely good too.

I wasn't a fan of Perez' 6+5 policy, but I'd be happy with a 3 (Griez, Pogba, other star) + 3 (Rashford, other youth products) +5 (Bailly, Micky type signings).

He's definitely looking for a move. I am not sure if it's United or he's trying to get more attention from some other club. Otherwise, Atletico fans won't be too pleased with him after those comments.

We should be very wary of a Di Maria situation. Griezmann's talked down a transfer to the PL before on the (tired old) grounds of lifestyle and weather and would naturally be tempted by a leading European side too. Any hint that he's waiting around to see if he can get a sniff from Bayern or PSG before settling for us should rule out the transfer.

Big money and a big name are no guarantee of success - commitment and drive are crucial too. Look at Herrera, frozen out for no real reason for two seasons but he stuck at it and now he's our player of the season.
