Who is Tom Coast? Not many clubs can afford him and he seems to distance himself already from the club so I would imagine we have good chance of getting him. Anything can happen though, it's football.

hmmmm. in that period they won the title twice, finished 2nd every other time and made CL semis 3 times. we are at the stage where we can barely finish in a champions league place through our own domestic league. i.e. we typically finish 5th or lower. Our average position is 5th actually. We are nowhere near a team that is competitive in the CL and are literally scraping through Europe's lower tier competition. That isn't all down to finishing. On the point of finishing, if all good teams took all their chances, they would all have 100+ points. Its part of the game. Clearly its more than finishing. Spurs have created more opportunities than us and Chelsea so perhaps they would be league champions if their finishing was better as they already many points ahead? same for City who from my recollection were woeful finishing at home. So many poor home results. I think most of the top teams are let down by their finishing to be honest, it isn't solely a United issue to fix.

From the summer of 2008 not the previous year. Their only title was when Jose was there.

You don't know how competitive we would be in the CL because we are not there. Did you think Monaco would be challenging in the CL last summer before this season began? Doubtful. On the chance missing thing, Its what I think we can improve on. Tottenham are probably at their highest level this year and I don't see them getting that much better next year. To emphasize how well they did - Not a single one of Fergy's title winning teams had ever got a GD as high as Tottenham's this year. Chelsea just claimed the record for most wins in a single season, again how much better can they really get?

If you had to pick a team with room for growth in terms of performance, its either us or City at this stage.

I ask myself this every summer....

If he is not welcome then surely he is coming whatever the outcome tomorrow and with their transfer ban.

Must be a kick in the team for the Athleti fans and club as a whole for him to speak so openly about it. For him to say about the lack of trophies surely would miff a few people off considering the job Simeone has done with them in the past few seasons. Losing such an instrumental figure shouldn't be too much of a negative providing they overturn the ban and buy well, just look at how well Juve have done this season without Pogba.

I think it's refreshing for a player to talk openly and honestly about a transfer. It's more respectful to be honest than to bullshit the fans with shit like "God only knows"

Yeah, nothing wrong with what he said as he's being honest and there's really no way to say that in a 'nicely' manner. No matter how you put it you're going to get backlash for it so he must be really determined to sign for a club that offers more opportunities to win something... which also makes you wonder if United currently is the best side for him short term.

If United doesn't win for Ajax he surely is going somewhere else and quite frankly I think he's a super good player and would love if Real Madrid sign him up, it's not only that I rate him highly but it would drive mad all of Atlético fans.

He said there's 0 chance he'll join Real Madrid. Think he'll join us regardless of the result tbf, doesn't seem like there's a future for him at Atleti anymore.

£230k a week, can Atleti compete?
No. It will kill their wage structure. Honestly it's a good deal for them (assuming they get the ban overturned) because with the 85m they could potentially get say, Lacazette (looks like a done deal) and Alexis, for example. Griezmann has carried the burden as the only consistent goalscorer post-Costa which is amazing as they have nearly won CL and league last year and been very competitive in the other years.

He probably has our contract with the offer in front of him all ready to be signed.
This. There's no way this hasn't already been seriously discussed until now. I'm pretty sure the wage was agreed or understood months back, jersey number, signing on fee etc; probably just some minor details being ironed out and probably as minor as - how he's unveiled, things of that nature.

This is what I think. Sort of makes it strange though that he's been so candid in the media, sort of left himself without options.

Pretty much. Anyone affiliated with Sport Witness isn't worth posting here. We will make some new transfer tweet guidelines shortly.

Is what they're doing that bad though? From what I've gathered all they really do is research and explain what's going on? Haven't really seen them post their own stuff.

The more we post credible journalists, of which Di Marzio is at the top of the heap, the better. These muppet show punters like Coast are at the bottom of the list.

I'm super happy he is coming but it's a bit sad to come out and say stuff like this when you're contracted to a club.

If this were a United player I'd be pissed. Like if De Gea says this, I'll personally be disappointed even though I know he probably will move

Pretty much that's all I've seen them do. I like them.

I just realized....He has never actually won anything. Rashford in his 18 month career has more medals than him! No wonder he wants to leave.

They don't give out trophies for coming third in La Liga? Even fourth gets trophy in the EPL. :)

While United are winning cups I wonder if Bayern is an option for Griezmann. He gets his league titles and domestic cups and has a strong shout again for the CL. Maybe Bayern will spend big one day.

I quite like SW, think they do a useful job. Feels a bit harsh

They used to do a decent job of sorting out the wheat from the chaff. I mean, at least they're making a concerted effort to not be bullshitters.

Honestly I think I would prefer this kind of open honesty. Think back to Ronaldo and "God only knows". I hate those kind of vague messages. If you're trying to leave then man up and say it. Fans understand this is how football works, players move between clubs. The vague messages saying you don't know where your future lies are just as annoying to me.

They just translate and gather news from other sources. No one including themselves ever claimed otherwise.

I agree. Especially when it's most likely done or very close to, which seems to be the case with Griezmann.

The funny thing for me is that he hasn't just turned the Atletico fans against him but all the neutrals too, loads of people on /r/soccer now dislike him after rimming him since forever. Same thing happened to Pogba, was widely beloved but when he joined us people were ready to burn him at the stake. I guess that's what happens when you leave the hipster darlings for the evil empire that we're perceived to be.

That's to be expected, isn't it? A lot of teams must envy our pull in the market. Albeit, he's been saying a lot of strange things recently tbh, would be quite insulted as an Atletico fan when he says he's excited by the prospect of China/MLS. He also publicly questions the ambition of Atletico whilst flirting with us, a team that's weaker than them.

At this stage, I think it would be pretty awkward if he doesn't leave Atletico.

I think he is obviously leaving, regardless of the transfer ban or the results of the Europa final. Negotiations must be pretty advanced, and the announcement of Simeone staying and Lacazette coming is to placate the AM fans a little. This banter from Griezmann is just to generate publicity and media noise before the move actually takes place. The move makes sense for all parties involved - we get a world-class attacker, AM will get one of the highest fees in football transfers ever, and Griezmann gets to increase his profile as one of the world's best players through our massive commercial prowess, help us to fight for titles (as mentioned by someone, he has won nothing at AM, while we at least have a FA cup and hopefully Europa title soon) and also be on the same team as French mates Pogba and to a lesser extent, Martial.

Would be nice to see a Frenchman take up the no. 7 again. Last one we had was pretty good, if I recall correctly.

I think people are reading way too much into certain parts of his comments. He also says he'd go to the USA and China to win titles. Essentially saying he'd go anywhere to win.

Griezmann is basically setting up the reasons why he's transferring away. In the end, it's all about justify the move.

Pogba comments about MUFC move:

The thing with me is I only think about the pitch. I want to do great, I want to be one of the best, I want to win titles, I want to achieve things and that’s all; that’s why I came here, just to do this, to become one of the best and to win titles because I know this club has to win titles.

I think we all know how Juve are going. Yet pogba moved to another team.

Griezmann is leaving Atletico. We are easily the front runners

That's always going to be the case rival fans dreamed of Pogba and loved him and thought they'd make him the best in the World soon as he signs he wasn't that good, he's a money grabber, look at the fee etc; it is what it is and I'm fine with it.

Like I said previously there's really not a nice way to say you want to leave in order to gain more trophies with a different club. You're basically giving your club and fans the middle finger and saying you're too good for them, so no wonder they don't want them there anymore despite being carrying them. So I wouldn't blame any player to remain silent and restrain expressing his thoughts and what I only think is pretty much bs and inexcusable is if a player says they're gonna play forever for their club or when they say they'll never play in a certain club.

Seems unlikely he'd go back to Atletico after saying all that. CL or not, he's United bound

This is a very wild guess but some people are speculating he might be doing all of this because Atlético didn't let him go to Real Madrid and that's why he's taking the piss at them now. I don't really believe this but to me it is strange he behaves like this now, he has always being a good guy.

De Gea

Valencia
Baily
Rojo
Blind

Herrera
Pogba
Mikitarian

Griezmann
Martial
Rashford

would he rate Real Madrid a 0/10 if that was his real choice? I mean if he's moving no matter what, and dislikes atletico for not letting him move, i'd imagine he would've said something like

MUFC 6/10
Atletico 7/10
Real 5/10
