No way he leaves in January. Winning the CL is the only thing left for Simeone and this Atletico team. He's hinted that this is their ultimate goal, too. I'm sure they'll go all out for it one last time this season, with Costa and Griezmann. He most likely wants to be part of it, too.

But if we were to trigger his release clause, there is nothing Simeone could do. Its all up to Griezmann if he wants to leave then. Plus it might be better if we get him in Jan because he could use those 5 months to get acclamated to the premier league and he can hit the ground running next season.

There is something he could do. He could talk to him, pump him up, one last go at it. I'm sure there wouldn't be much need though. If you're Griezmann you want to stay until the summer, no doubt. He's been part of this project from the start and he'd want to finish it or at least give it all trying. Leaving in the middle of the season would be so anticlimatic. And for what purpose, if he could just come in the summer, have it done clean and proper? You're not selling that "come get acclimated" to me, not over a CL run.

I dunno, I might be way off the mark here but that's what it looks to me like from where I'm standing.

They arent going to win the UCL or La Liga with or without him.

We don't need him right now. Summer is coming and we will sell a lot of folks to make room.

If he comes in January, we will win the league with him. However, if he was coming, Jose wouldn't have bothered giving Zlatan a new contract. No way he could have planned to fit Zlatan and Griezmann along with the personnel we already have in the team.

Its' summer, and hopefully we wrap the deal up smoothly this time.

Sign him now, let him join in June. Win-win situation for both teams.

Not caring if it happens now is proof of being easily led when you don't really know why. Just buying into the hype.

But this guy looks more than hype. He's real quality.

Past caring? jeez, this guy will be the best player we will have if we do finally get him, and at 100 million Euros, it'll be seen as a bargain the way the market has gone this summer.

Jose is a pragmatic kind of guy, and rather than spit his dummy out and sign someone else this summer after he decided to stay he has waited for him. Hopefully everything goes smoothly this time, reckon it'll be next summer though.

Come January, imagine if you could have the following forwards to choose from:

Zlatan
Griezman
Lukaku
Rashford
Martial

Considering many of them are able to play across the front line, you'd be crazy to say no to that!

Not only is he a fantastic player but think of the marketing possibilities. Woody is probably getting a semi just thinking about all the extra revenue from Griezmann shirt sales. The guy is a proven performer and is highly marketable so no brainer signing for me.

Don't really care about him. We have more important needs that need addressing.

I still want this to happen. He should be our no1 target, the best player we can realistically get next summer

Have a feeling it'll happen. He was basically at our doorstep before the transfer ban.

He obviously also has an appreciation for the club given his love for Beckham, his constant talk about us in the press and his brother's obsession with the club

I'm already rubbing myself to the thought of it
Griezmann seems very excited that Costa is 'coming home' so I don't see him leaving.
Could be excited because he gets to come to United knowing that Atleti will have a replacement in Costa.

As long as we force him to change hair color...
Yeah our marketing team must put that into his contract the day he signs here. Absolutely ridiculous state of him.

Griezmann and Costa will be allowed to play together until the end of season at least IMO, no chance of a January move. They will have a very good shot at Champions League together.

Don't see Jose going back for him - not a man who responds well to being snubbed, I imagine. Not sure the club would want to get involved again either. Ship has sailed on this one.

Griezmann is obviously a brilliant little player and has friendships with Pogba, Lukaku and Martial.
But I think bottom line, he just doesn't want to leave the Spanish sunshine and lifestyle.

I don't buy into this staying with Atletico out of loyalty garb, that's just a good PR spin in my opinion.
If Griezmann wanted to leave and join United, he would have done so during the Summer.

I saw that he has tweeted "Is coming hooome, is coming hoooome" to news of Diego Costa's return to Atletico, which suggests that Griezmann is eager to play alongside him.
If Griezmann does leave I can only see it being for either of Real or Barcelona.

The problem is realistically there's only Barcelona for him to join if he wants to stay in Spain and even without Neymar they have Messi, Suarez and Dembele heading the attack. I just cant see them spending the best part of £100m on him they have far bigger issues in my opinion. I think its United, Chelsea or Bayern personally.

He had no problem signing Lukaku after he asked to leave Chelsea. Or working with Mata who did exactly the same.
