What do think of the (supposedly) imminent signing of Anthony Martial?

The only way €80m is happening is if it includes some of the most ridiculous add ons in the history of contract agreements. Hat trick in a champions league final? €10m more. 40 goals in the PL? Another €10m

if we have paid £58million for this lad, I want Van Gaal and Woodward sacked ASAP.

Chill. Best case scenario - he ends up being a revelation and justifying his price tag. Worst case scenario - he flops and makes LVG and Woodward look bad leading to both being possibly dismissed, and hence you getting what you want.

Win-Win :)

Could somebody do a FAQ about this guy? Just basic info like strengths and weaknesses, prefered position and so. I don't have time to go through all the pages of another "how much he's worth" discussion.
Does he play on the right or just a striker?

The career he'll need to have here to justify that fee...And think about someone like Ronaldo where it took 3 years before we saw him turn into the player he did, Martial will need to deliver straight away. It's crazy.

Seriously what does it matter, would you rather see the money we have disappear out of the club in dividends.

Also sure we've scouted him properly and know what we're getting

I wonder if this makes Mata finally move into the #10 position.

Rooney
Memphis Mata Martial
Basti Morgan

Sure:

What's his ideal position?
In the 15 minutes or so I watched of the CL game between Monaco and Arsenal, I'd like to say a no.9 or a wide left forward.

Strengths
He's the next Thierry Henry

Weaknesses
He only cost Monaco 5 million Euros a few years ago, Spurs were also interested in him.

FAQ

Strengths: mental fortitude, positional adjustments, deftness of touch, speed out of blocks

Weaknesses: cruyff turn, holding a high line, pressure.

Right footed left striker.

The absolute state of this post.

Always assumed people had better things to do than lament over transfer fees paid by a club that makes as much money as we do.

People need to understand this is the direction the games being dragged in. It don't mean you over pay for every single player but for what we need right now? He could be a catalyst. Whatever the price is, his value will be shown with his performances on the pitch and what he provides the team. Maybe a lot is to do with the fact we've not seen much of him but if you don't pay the money, you don't get the player.

The absolute state of the whole bloody forum today would be more apt.!

us paying these sorts of fees is exactly why Football is getting worse and worse and more about mercenaries and corruption than football. End of the day we should not be paying 80million Euro's for a 19 year old French youngster. Especially when players who are certainly more proven quality (griezmann etc) exist for way less and who are only 24.

Watched a highlight reel of his game against PSG. Looked bang average. Reminds me a lot of Welbeck in that video. 80 million would be a joke. To think who we could have got for that money

He looks like the French Welbeck on all his compilation videos, not that there anything to go by on solely judging a player, Am i missing a trick here ?

Monaco categorically didn't want to sell him but we've made a bid so large they couldn't refuse, that tells you right there we're paying (a lot) more than he's actually worth.

Fingers crossed the club know what they're doing, the previous player we paid this sort of money for didn't work out too well.

Sorry mate, thats not allowed.

You're not actually able to point out that the ridiculous fee we are paying, is in fact.....ridiculous.

You have to be a proper fan and say things like 'Its not my money' or 'Who cares how much we spend'.

You're entitled but no ones actually sure how much we paid.

I'm surprised nobody's talking about how suspicious this deal is considering just how far above market value the fee actually is. We're not talking about 50% or even 100% above market value, but maybe something like 200-500% if the reported figure is correct. If this were in any other industry alarm bells would be ringing.

We have a history of dodgy/suspicious dealings in the transfer market (Bebe) and we're talking about a club owned by a dodgy Russian billionaire which is located in a microstate notorious for money laundering.

The whole thing stinks.

How many times this should be repeated: The fee isn't 80 million euros, it's 36 million pounds.

Na he's not falling down while shooting and actually scores a few goals in the compilations
