Anthony Martial

What do think of the (supposedly) imminent signing of Anthony Martial?

I don't think it was the first plan but I think it was always a back up. LVG says we won't sign anyone we've not been scouting and I believe him. He won't have made any knee jerk decisions to yesterday's defeat.

Holy shit, superboom from the French national team site?

We are transfer ninjas.

Good talent, not the best talent. It would be incredibly stupid to pay that kinda money for him because he simply isn't worth it, even in terms of potential. He is improving little by little (starter since January and recently called up for France) but the jump would be too fecking huge. I sincerely hope this is all a joke because Man Utd would be seen as an even bigger laughing stock than it is now.

And wow, this is going to be an expensive signing.

Looks like he'll become our 3rd most expensive signing ever. A teeneager with 13 goals in 64 games. I'm all for signing young talent, but we also need someone (or a few someones) capable of making a more immediate impact.

He left France team base at 12:00 for Manchester. Somebody find the flight we have to track!

Potentially very exciting deal. If we wrap this up along with Memphis we have two of the most exciting up and coming European forwards, both of whom can play across the front three positions.

He is a youngster who will need 2-3 yrs of time to adapt and grow up. It would be a bad move considering the price, a panic buy as usual.

As excited as I am about this... I don't think it's enough if we let Januzaj and Hernandez go surely?! Still think it leaves us a bit light overall.

It's actually hilarious, how the caf reacts to this. Most posters usually don't care what a player costs, but now it suddenly does matter again. What happened to this?

Don't give a feck how much he costs, it's not my money. If the manager wants him then we should do whatever we can to get him.

We just have to lose a game and everyone's patience is gone. Do you lot seriously think, we haven't scouted him, if we are going to pay huge money for him? Yeah right, panic mode. There were reports that we would sign a striker a few days ago. @jb8521 is saying, we've scouted him since he was 14 or something like that. I mean there's several good reasons why we are acting to way we do, like some club is forcing our hand or we are convinced that he's going to be a great player and want to get him early on. I said before the summer that we should be looking to bring him or Embolo from Basle in. One of them could share their game time with Rooney, while Memphis and Fellaini are the other backups.

He's a very talented player and whilst I agree that the fee is crazy, I just don't care, if we pay it or become a laughing stock for some silly rival fans. A lot of you a more concerned with that than the actual improvements we have made through our signing and outgoing players. Was Müller likely to come this summer, or Benzema, or Lewandowski? Why should Bayern or Madrid just give up on these players, if they are important to them? It's not like those clubs have money as we do and the players get paid well. Furthermore they currently have better teams than us and why should those players go to a club, which might not be as successful anytime soon? Woodward apparently is supposed to bring them in and I'd argue that another CEO would have the same chance as him getting one of them.

Martial is a typical United signing, but we've lost our soul, haven't we? Yes, he's not going to solve the issues we have, but we were never able to deal with all of them in one transfer window. I have patience to see our players develop into better players and Martial is the sort of player I would love watching become a great player for United and country.

It's on! Let me try one of those terrible name thingies adding on.

MartiON!

I hope he outclasses Rooney, which shouldn't be too hard and then fecks him off to the bench.

Yeah .Any deals this late by us as to be a panic buy .But it may well work out.

Oh bloody hell this is really happening?! I hope the kid works out for us, I really do. Praying he's not another expensive mess..

Lots of potential and definitely adds some pace and skill which we desperate for, with players who have left and Hernandez and januzaj going though we still look short in the final third.

Get the feck in. I've gone past the point caring what we're paying for players now. Knowing us, whatever we pay for him will probably be the biggest rip off this side of the century but we desperately need quality and this kid is it. He's by no means the finished article, a lot of it is still potential, but he'll at least inject some much needed pace and creativity into the team.

It's always hard to understand why deals aren't sorted out sooner, but if this goes thu....who's place will he take?

Hopefully people realise he won't be coming in and displacing Rooney all of a sudden.

Have to say UK media have been appalling with United transfer news this window
