Nearly all the replies after the game said he played decent to good?

IMO he had a very decent cameo and hopefully he’s going to show it soon over the course of 90 minutes/week in, week out.
I’m not talking about specifically redcafe, more just the fanbase in general.

He has to compete with Ronaldo/Cavani/Greenwood/Rashford/Sancho/Pogba for front-3 places, not easy but i hope he will prove his wroth.

Our attack can be something, I really hope we fix the midfield sooon, bloody helll we are looking for a decent midfield for more than a decade.

Definitely not easy but if he achieves it he’s keeping out some fantastic players so if he earns the spot it means he’s putting in performances worthy of a starting role and that’s all people can ask of him.

As for the midfield here’s to praying for some deadline day magic.

I actually feel sorry for him now, he came on for France last night and managed to do more bad than good. I have no idea what happened to him, he is probably still not 100% fit and sharp, but he is a shadow of a player he is supposed to be by now. Not good enough, we should be looking to cash in as soon as possible.

Thought he was excellent when he came on vs Wolves. Held on to the ball, drew players in and helped us get a bit of control on the tempo of the game.

I think it's more than excellent. Even better than when Ole scored in CL Final.

What has happened to Martials dribbling? Last night he was all over the place, and then trips himself up and twists over his ankle. It almost seems like a mental thing not a physical thing now.

Confidence has to be a massive part of an athletes performance. There's no other explanation.
He finished the 2019/20 season on top of the world.

What I don't understand is why that doesnt carry through, is it really because we brought in a back up striker?

Such a shame. Only a few years back he was toying with PL fullbacks. His dribbling has declined at such a young age.

He needs a big change of scenery I reckon. Go back down a few steps and work your way back up like Memphis did. The talent is fundamentally there, it’s just the mental confidence isn’t following.

Don't get me wrong I know this well, my daughter is a regional level swimmer, and when she is confident and on top of her game everything flows and looks easy, but Martial doesn't seem to have had that in a year, bursts here and there, but after that season i assumed he would continue, maybe he is one of those players who will perenially struggle with confidence and not peak, that season looks more like an outlier of his confidence right now.6

I noticed this during the Southampton game. He didn’t even look dangerous on the ball, which he always did in the past, even when things weren’t coming off. He was a little better when he came on against Wolves, but the issue remains.

It’s definitely a confidence thing. He’s bereft of it and playing well within himself. I’m not sure how he fixes that given that we’ve just added Sancho and Ronaldo to the squad.

I also think he is playing like a striker when playing at LW. Looking bulky and still playing with his back to goal.

It's like he has forgotten how to play as an inverted forward.

He ruins games for me now. All i can see are the negatives from him. I'm sad to say that I don't see him competing for a spot and hope we move him on in January. I'm so tired of watching him give half effort in defense, so tired of watching him be lost trying to find space, unable to connect a 10 foot pass. Unable to read defenses.

In the line up for the France team against Ukraine today, it sure will help him because he needs the game time.

Yes I was surprised to see him. Hopefully he can deliver a good performance?

In June 2020, he was looking like a top CF.

In Sept 2021, he looks finished as a United player.

I wonder what happened.

He has been absolutely terrible in this half and even missed alone with the GK when he was finally given a chance, miracle if he plays more minutes in this game. Wish he had a third of the hunger of Haaland and the likes, he just jogs around like he doesn’t care, presses like I did back in the day... pathetic. How can you not care more about being a great footballer? Difficult to understand.

I would honestly sell him and get some money back when we can. He is looking poor than Lacazette and that is sad as his biggest asset once was finishing but now he just seems to miss most one on one.

Not even a shadow of the player who scored that goal against Liverpool six seasons ago.

The schadenfreude at the expense of one of our own players is a bit pathetic.
