For the love of god, could we please give him a new contract and time him up for 5 more years please? His current contract is up next year(i know we have a option to extend a year on top) and we don't need other clubs feeding him advice to run it down.

I'm sure that's already been happening, I just don't think he's interested in leaving unless it's for one of the big two in Spain, even then it'll be hard to prise him away because he is now a starter, has the trust of the coach and the team, and he seems to be happy right now, along with having a good chemistry with the other guys.

I think Barca wouldn't be sniffing around for him after spending big on Dembele and Coutinho. Madrid maybe, but right now, like you said, he seems happy and I also feel Pogba being here is really good for him. Mourinho referenced earlier this year that Martial seemed to enjoy having the little French speaking contingent we have with Pogba, Lukaku and Fellaini.

Yes, Madrid is the one I'm afraid of. Barca are quite stacked in the attacking dept and they're chasing griz. Madrid haven't spent a lot past two years and I could see them dismantling BBC and rebuild. Hope contract talks are going on as we speak.

He's been very, very good. Awesome to see him come through this year and prove the doubters wrong.

He is not established enough for Madrid right now. Hazard and Kane fit their profile better from EPL.

with sanchez coming to united I would like to see martial take lukaku's place up front, I think his potential is greater than lukaku and during the summer I was more interested in the club buying a goal scoring winger rather than a new striker as I believe both martial and rashford have a lot to give up front if shown the patience to develop and with an added goal scoring winger like a sanchez will take the goal scoring burden off either of them when they would have gone through a difficult patch, hindsight is a beautiful thing but i wish we just signed sanchez during the summer seeing as he wanted out of arsenal then over signing lukaku

Never going to happen while Mourinho is around. Lukaku up front with Martial as a SS or LW is better than not having Lukaku and getting Martial up front. Sanchez being on the left with Martial up front leaves you with Lingard/Mata/Mikhi (assuming Sanchez was gotten instead of Lukaku) on the right, which isn't what you want if you're trying to beat the likes of city. However, a Martial-Lukaku-Sanchez front three is definitely interesting. A guy like Lukaku can bring a lot to a team that won't show up in the stats, and I don't think Martial can carry the weight offensively as the lone striker throughout a season, he benefits from having a guy like Lukaku to combine with.

Also, Rashford hasn't shown much to consider him somebody you could trust up front or on the left wing without Lukaku. He's been nothing short of atrocious these last couple of months.

Agreed. We need to get him to sign this summer. Any later and we're seriously asking for trouble. For players of his profile, we should begin negotiations earlier than 2 years to expiration with the aim of getting his signature two summers before.

The number of clubs asking for him should have gotten alarm bells ringing.
Pretty sure we are already in discussions. Think I'll tweet that Boufhasi Gus after work. Hope he answers. Hes close to Martials people.

the issue would be will mourinho go with that front 3? maybe i'm completely wrong but with sanchez having his choice between both us and city, he had a lot of bargaining power and could have asked for assurances that he will play in his strongest position on the left and mourinho seems to be quite fond of lingard in the attacking midfielder role.

Was surprised to learn his contract is up in 2019. Thankfully he's consistently playing and performing well. I hope we are in talks with him to sign a new deal. Has there been any reporting on that? Does the contract he's now on include any extension clauses?

All the contracts we offer to younger players are 4+1 and Martial is no exception. We have an option to extend him till 2020. So there's no rush or worry.

Martial is the future of this club. We must build the team around him because I believe he has the potential to win the Ballon Dor. My favourite player at United.

I still don't see what others are seeing when they want him to play up front instead of Lukaku.

He's best coming in from the left receiving the ball and carrying it forward rather than receiving it with his back to goal or timing a run forward to pick up a through ball.

His partnership with Lukaku is really flourishing at the moment and a real understanding is forming between them. They should be studying Ronaldo and Benzema's partnership as they both have the tools to emulate it.

God knows why you would want to take out the Lukaku-Martial partnership from this team. They have a very good connection with each other.

It's like he wins a FK once a game when he cuts inside early. In dangerous areas too, if only we had someone who could bang them in.

Needs to be doing it throughout the game. This is why his motor is often criticized. A single goal or assist per 90 minutes is now looking beneath his talent level. As ridiculous as it sounds to say

So what happens to Lukaku then?

Nah. I think you might be underrating Romelu as a number nine and Martial as a wide forward. Lukaku brings so much more than scoring to the team. I have been impressed with his positioning, pace, hold up play and passes. He has also not been fed enough with the ball otherwise he would have banged in more goals by now. I was cringing when Martial and Rashford decided to be selfish rather than pass to Romelu in that Burnley game. It's true he has missed some sitters but I don't know of a single striker in world football who has not this season. If my numbers are correct, he has played 33 games for us and scored 17. I don't have his stat numbers but I know he has contributed a few and created a decent number of chances. Martial on the other hand, is turning out to be a genius as a wide forward licensed to drift to the middle. I think that's his best positioning. In many ways, he's like Sanchez - a player who is deadly attacking from wide but can also play from the middle when called upon.

Yep, good thing about Martial is, he seems happy to stay if he gets his recognition here. But what he went through was required though, I felt he had become a bit too cocky after his first season, as though he had made it. Jose brought him down to earth a bit with his tough love.

I don't think he was acting cocky at all or that Jose needed to give him tough love to bring his ego down, more like he was a bit overwhelmed with his off-the-field issues which affected his Euro 2016 and a big chunk of last season. I don't know where he is now on that front, but it seems to be behind him.

We know he has the skills, I just hope he can keep his consistency. With the addition of Sánchez, I would say we have a decent chance in the CL if Martial keeps playing with confidence.

Yep his issues off the pitch seemed to be a big issue for him, he said as much himself didn't he? Now that they're obviously behind him he's been class. He seems to be improving on several aspects of his game too, mainly movement and finishing which is great to see.

He’s one player I’ve consistently been in love with. Good to see him smiling a lot more these days. With Pogba, Lukaku and Sanchez operating close to him, he can finally start realizing all that potential.

This is very true.

Have any other player hit goals in 3 consecutive games and the hype would be on overdrive. Heck I've seen sky omitting him from their supposed United starting 11 now with Sanchez here yet they have him as the most in form player in the league.

0.65 goals+assists/ game is Rooney/Sanchez level of productivity. This is when he came of the bench in the earlier part of the season. The media and the "pundits" still haven't gotten over his form last season.

Exactly. His stats and productivity this season are very high, elite especially for a winger. And his goals to minutes played ratio is some of the highest. I think mostly only strikers have a better goals than him in the league and he's played some of the fewest minutes compared to those other with 8 or more goals in the league. And he plays as a winger.

Like I said have someone else there, especially some of the media darlings and they'd be showing us graphs and stats showing their productivity and all that. Very odd how quiet they've been on Martial despite him being the most in form player in the league currently.

I don't actually mind it, let the media under rate him all they want. Makes it that little bit sweeter when he rips teams apart.

Leon Osman was on a show yesterday and he was asked who his front 6 where for United and he said Matic, Pogba, Lingard, Sanchez, Lukaku and he knows Martial is in form but Rashford instead.
It was funny because as if all the media are just angry he is keeping their beloved English boy on the bench and no matter how he does, it doesn't matter and the narrative that United wasted the money on him must be driven home.

The thing is the moment he hit a bit of a rough patch they all gonna jump on him like a pack of fly over turd as if he's done absolutely nothing this season.

They'll continue to keep quiet until he show even the slightest of struggles than they'll be all over anylizing his performances and why Mou is supposedly looking to replace him.

Heck even after he performed against Stoke and was already hitting his form, the post analysis by pundits(Jamie and Gary) on sky were about how Mourinho had lost patience with him hence the purchase of Sanchez. You couldn't make it up. It has become plain pathetic. I genuinely loathe the English media, bench of bias and jaleous irredeemable posers.

Hated adored never ignored.

Get used to it mate it's been this way for ages and long may it continue. I'll worry when it isn't like that anymore.
